Abstract

Success in the learning process in elementary schools can be seen from the active participation of students in conveying their ideas and feelings through good speaking skills. The low speaking ability of students in elementary schools hurts the quality of learning. Therefore, learning media is needed to improve students' speaking skills, using interactive picture and picture learning media based on storyline articulation. This study aims to create learning media that can improve the speaking skills of elementary school students. This research is a research and development (RnD) with the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were teachers and students of grade 3 elementary school. Data collection techniques were carried out using documentation, interviews, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative analysis technique and quantitative analysis. The results of the study obtained valid, practical. Effective learning media with an excellent validity level, namely 92% and 90.90% for materials and media, the practicality level of students and teachers was 82.5%; 85% and 82.5%; 90% with a convenient category and has an effect that can be seen from the Z count of -3.411 with Asymp. Sig 0.001 of 12 and 15 students from the limited group and the broad group who took the test and had a pretest average of 68.4 and got a post-test average of 83.4. Thus, this media can improve the speaking skills of elementary school children.

Abstract

Basic science process skills are important for elementary school students. Basic science process skills can optimize students' critical thinking skills and scientific thinking skills. In addition, they can also train students to solve the problems they experience in everyday life. However, many students have not mastered these skills. Therefore, learning media is needed to optimize these basic science process skills. Therefore, it is necessary to create learning media to optimize these basic science process skills. One of the learning media that can be used to optimize the basic science process skills in elementary school students is Fruit Audio Aroma learning media. This study aimed to analyze whether there was an effect of the use of Fruit Audio Aroma learning media on the basic science process skills in elementary school students. This research was a quantitative experimental one-shot case study conducted by providing treatment to students. Data were collected through performance tests. Data analysis techniques were carried out through the non-parametric test through the Wilcoxon test. The results of the Wilcoxon test show that the use of Fruit Audio Aroma learning media affected elementary school students' basic science process skills. The results of this study are expected to contribute to educators' optimization of students’ basic science process skills.

Abstract

Developing teaching materials containing Papuan cultural wisdom is an important step in improving writing skills and overcoming the challenge of low literacy levels of students in Papua. This research aims to develop teaching materials containing Papuan cultural wisdom to improve students' writing skills. This R&D research focuses on developing teaching materials using the 4D model, namely Define, Design, Development and Dissemination.  The subjects in this research were fifth grade elementary school students with a sample of 70 students in the control class and experimental class. Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using interactive analysis techniques, validation and product testing. Apart from that, the data was also analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis. The results of the study showed an increase in the average pretest score in the control class to 67.3, while the experimental class reached 69.5. After the treatment was carried out and ended with the post-test, there was an increase in the average score in the control class to 75.73, and the experimental class 90.28. The higher average increase in post-test scores in the experimental class indicates the potential for increasing students' understanding by using Papuan cultural wisdom teaching materials. Innovation in teaching materials with Papuan cultural wisdom theoretically has implications for complementing and strengthening previous theories regarding teaching materials and story writing skills. Practically, the results of this research can contribute to Papuan cultural wisdom and effectively improve elementary school students' short story writing skills.

Abstract

Covid-19 has brought comprehensive changes in the field of education such as conducting learning with a distance learning system. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the teacher's view of learning needs and explore the factors that become obstacles in online thematic learning in elementary schools. This type of research is a mixed methods research, namely qualitative and quantitative research designs. The subject of this research is to take a sample of teachers in 20 elementary schools with a population of 200 teachers with a sample of 20 teachers. The sampling method used simple random sampling. Quantitative data in the form of samples based on questionnaire scores from 5th grade teachers with a sample of 20 teachers from 20 elementary schools. Data analysis is used to draw final conclusions on the results of the data, both from interviews, observations, and documents using interactive analysis techniques, namely data collection, data condensation, data display (data display) and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the thematic learning system had not been maximally implemented in schools; it is necessary to get used to implementing an android-based system which includes zoom for face-to-face online meetings, learning materials and evaluation of learning, so that teachers can explore the learning system used during the Covid-19 pandemic. In conclusion, the learning system in thematic learning during the Covid-19 pandemic still needs to be developed and explored because there are obstacles in the implementation of the learning process.
