Abstract

Interprofessional Education (IPE) is a pedagogical approach to prepare clinical students to provide health services to patients in a collaborative and integrated manner in order to improve the quality of health services through the implementation of Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC). The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions of medical students of FK UNAND towards IPE. This research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. Cross sectional design is used for the research. This study used the Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale (IEPS) questionnaire which was distributed via Google form with a total sample of 258 medical students in the period October 2022 – January 2023. The research sample was determined using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. A total of 231 students (89,5%%) had a good perception of IPE with the component of perceived need for cooperation having the highest percentage (95,7%) and component of understanding others’ value having the lowest percentage (62,4%%). Clinical students of 2020 have the highest perception percentage of all the other years (90,6%), followed by the clinical students of 2021 (89,1%), and lastly the clinical students of 2022 with the lowest percentage of perception (88,8%). The perception of medical students of FK UNAND towards IPE is mostly in the good category, however, component of understanding others’ value is still lacking and therefore needs to be improved. The abstract is presented in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Abstract

Background: High-risk Human Papillomavirus (hrHPV) infection causes 99.7% of cervical carcinoma cases. Among the thirteen types of hrHPV, types 16 and 18 have a strong correlation with- cervical carcinoma. HPV 16 infection makes the immune system in the cervix hyporesponsive compared to HPV 18 infection. Objective: This study aims to compare the risk factors and clinical manifestations of HPV 16 with HPV 18 in cervical carcinoma patients. Method: This is an analytic study with a retrospective cohort approach using secondary data from the research of Dr. dr. Andani Eka Putra, M.Sc and dr. Syandrez Prima Putra which has been collected into a research master table. The sampling technique was non-probability sampling with convenience sampling on 38 respondents whose specimens were stored at the Central Laboratory of Diagnostics and Research on Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University. Data analysis was carried out using Fisher's Exact test. Results: The results of statistical tests on the comparison of marriageable age between patients with HPV 16 and HPV 18 types showed a value of p = 0.038 (p <0.05). In this study, women who are > 45 years old, married early (<20 years), have a low level of education, work as housewives, and have a multiparity history are at high risk of cervical carcinoma. Patients with HPV 16 and 18 had risk factors and clinical manifestations were not much different (p>0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant comparison of the risk factors and clinical manifestations of HPV 16 with HPV 18 in patients with cervical carcinoma.

Abstract

Background : Tear film is a fluid-filled layer that protects the eyes from the external environment. This layer consists of three layers, namely lipid, aqueous and mucin. Tear film stability is seen as one of the main characteristics of eye health. failure to maintain balance Tear film can cause dry eyes. One of the causes of dry eyes is an imbalance of steroid sex hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and androgens. These hormones have mRNA receptors on the surface tissues of the eye that are susceptible to hormonal contraceptives. Objective : This literature study aims to explore various original research literature on the relationship between the use of hormonal contraceptives and the stability of Tear film.  Methods : Narrative reviews of literature searched through the Pubmed and Google Scholar databases, then selected based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results : There are 6 literatures with 444 women of childbearing age with an age range of 20-45 years who use the TBUT and Schirmer examinations. Conclusion : There is no relationship between the use of hormonal contraceptives and the stability of tear film
