Abstract

Diarrhea is a condition of having three or more loose stools a day, which is the main cause of death in infants and adults in Indonesia. Poor sanitation conditions, such as improper waste and sewage management and contaminated water sources, are the main risk factors for the transmission of this disease in coastal areas. This study aims to analyze the relationship between environmental sanitation, which includes the provision of clean water, ownership of healthy latrines, and wastewater management, with the incidence of diarrhea on Balang Lompo Island, Pangkep Regency. This study used a quantitative, cross-sectional design. The study population comprised all 915 heads of families (KK) on Balang Lompo Island, selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were obtained using a questionnaire. The analysis methods used were univariate and bivariate, with the chi-square test. The results of the study showed that there was no relationship between environmental sanitation of clean water supply and the incidence of diarrhea (p-value = 0.690> 0.05%), there was a significant relationship between environmental sanitation of healthy toilet ownership and the incidence of diarrhea (p-value = 0.001<0.05%) and there was a relationship between environmental sanitation of liquid waste management and the incidence of diarrhea (p-value = 0.001<0.05%) The suggestion in this study is that the people of Balang Lompo Island, Pangkep Regency, are expected to pay attention to and maintain environmental sanitation appropriately and meet the requirements in accordance with applicable health standards.

Abstract

Adolescents with disabilities are a vulnerable group experiencing various mental health problems due to physical, intellectual, and social limitations that can affect their ability to adapt and interact with the environment. Mental health disorders in adolescents with disabilities can include emotional problems, anxiety, hyperactivity, and obstacles in social relationships, with some cases reaching clinical significance. This study aims to describe the characteristics of mental health in adolescents with disabilities at SLBN Jeneponto. This study used a quantitative descriptive design implemented at SLBN 1 Jeneponto and SLBN 2 Jeneponto. The study population was all 97 students with disabilities enrolled in both schools. The study sample was determined using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed univariately using SPSS. The results showed that the majority of adolescents with disabilities had undisturbed mental health (61 respondents (62.9%)), while 36 respondents (37.1%) experienced mental health disorders, some of which were clinically significant. Based on mental health characteristics, the majority of respondents experienced emotional instability (58.8%), anxiety (59.8%), did not experience hyperactivity (55.7%), had unrelated peers (53.6%), and received a democratic parenting style from their parents (53.6%). This study concluded that although the majority of adolescents with disabilities had stable mental health, a significant proportion still experienced emotional problems and anxiety, warranting targeted support. Therefore, support from families, schools, and the social environment is needed to maintain and improve the mental health of adolescents with disabilities.

Job stress is one of the occupational health problems frequently experienced by healthcare workers, particularly nurses, and can impact performance, service quality, and patient safety. Hospitals should actively manage these factors to foster a supportive environment. Various factors related to work conditions are known to influence nurses' work stress levels. This study aims to determine the factors associated with work stress in nurses in the inpatient ward of Ibnu Sina Hospital (YW-UMI), Makassar. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design. The study population was all nurses working in the inpatient ward of Ibnu Sina Hospital (YW-UMI), Makassar. The study sample consisted of 86 people selected using a total sampling technique. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that workload (p = 0.002), work fatigue (p = 0.000), physical work environment (p = 0.000), and interpersonal communication (p = 0.000) were significantly associated with work stress among nurses in the inpatient ward of Ibnu Sina Hospital (YW-UMI), Makassar. This study concluded that workload, work fatigue, physical work environment, and interpersonal communication are factors associated with work stress among nurses. Abstract

Adolescent girls' interest in physical appearance is driving increased skincare purchases. Competition from local brands is increasingly fierce, driven by social media advertising and efforts to strengthen brand image. For Muslim teenagers, halal labels and BPOM permits are important considerations. However, the presence of dangerous products that continue to circulate despite having BPOM permits shows that distribution permits alone do not guarantee product safety. Adolescents' limited awareness of active ingredients underscores the importance of research into the factors influencing skincare purchasing decisions. This study aims to determine the relationships among halal labels, BPOM labels, ingredient safety, and skincare side effects on purchasing decisions among adolescent girls at SMAN 1 Bantaeng. This study used a quantitative, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 40 female students in grades X, XI, and XII. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and data analysis used the chi-square test. The results showed no relationship between halal labels (p = 0.736), BPOM labels, ingredient safety (p = 0.850), and purchasing decisions. However, there was a significant relationship between side effects of use (p = 0.005) and purchasing decisions. The results showed that side effects influence purchasing decisions. It is recommended to research other factors that affect skin health.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the diseases that is considered the main cause of death and disability. The incidence rate of hypertension increases rapidly every year. This study aims to determine the influence of long-term suffering from hypertension, family support and medication adherence to the quality of life of patients through smoking behavior at the Mandai Health Center, Maros Regency. The type of research used is quantitative research with a cross sectional study design, which is a research design that studies the relationship between independent and dependent variables. The population in this study is all hypertension patients in the working area of the Mandai Health Center as many as 100 people. The sample in this study was 100 people using the sampling technique, namely total sampling. Statistical analysis used univariate and bivariate, with the chi square test followed by the path analyst.  The results of the study using pathway analysis showed that family support (p=0.004, β=0.279), medication adherence (p=0.011, β=-0.0274) had a significant effect on the quality of life of hypertensive patients while suffering for a long time (p=0.0.357, β=0.098), and smoking behavior (p=0.960, β=-0.005) did not have a significant effect on the quality of life of hypertensive patients at the Mandai Health Center, Maros Regency.  The suggestion in this study is that it is expected that the patient's family will always support the treatment of hypertension patients so that the level of adherence to taking medication is better.

Abstract

Posyandu (Integrated Health Post) is a community-based health service that plays a crucial role in monitoring child growth and improving maternal and child health outcomes. Despite the implementation of Primary Health Care Transformation in Indonesia, low attendance at Posyandu and persistent child growth issues remain challenges in some areas. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between Posyandu service performance and toddler growth in Toddotoa Village, Pallangga District, Gowa Regency. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 94 mothers of children under five years old from October to November 2025. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that assessed four dimensions of Posyandu service performance: effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, and responsiveness. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that 70.2% of toddlers experienced abnormal growth, while 70.2% of respondents assessed Posyandu services as effective. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between service effectiveness and toddler growth (p = 0.016). However, no significant association was found between service efficiency (p = 0.917), adequacy (p = 0.478), or responsiveness (p = 1.000) and toddler growth. This finding suggests that Posyandu service effectiveness is an important factor associated with toddler growth, while efficiency, adequacy, and responsiveness are not significantly related. Strengthening Posyandu service effectiveness through improved growth monitoring, nutritional counseling, and capacity building of cadres may contribute to better child growth outcomes.
