Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the main group elemental chemistry textbooks based on problem based learning in improving student learning outcomes. The design of this study was a quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The participants in this study were sixth year chemistry education students at Universitas Sriwijaya for the 2021/2022 academic year. Test instruments was implied in this research and analyzed using statistics with N-gain data. Abstract

Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) di Kabupaten Banyuasin sudah mulai menerapkan kurikulum Merdeka Belajar. Salah satu pembelajaran yang sesuai untuk digunakan oleh sekolah yang menerapkan kurikulum merdeka belajar adalah pembelajaran berbasis STEM. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penyuluhan pada guru kimia SMA/SMK/MA di Kabupaten Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan untuk mengimplementasikan Pembelajaran STEM pada Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar. Pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan dan diskusi. Beberapa hasil kerja peserta pengabdian yaitu 1) pembuatan pupuk organik cair menggunakan hasil fermentasi dari sisa/limbah kulit buah dan sayur yang dicampur dengan gula merah dan air dengan perbandingan 1:3:10. 2) pembuatan minyak kelapa murni tanpa pemanasan, yang dilakukan dengan membuat santan dari kelapa dan didiamkan di suhu 30oC selama 24 jam sampai minyak muncul. 3) Pemanfaatan kulit buah naga sebagai bahan tambahan pembuatan sabun padat. 4) pembuatan lilin aromaterapi dengan menambahkan pewarna dan aroma pada lilin cair. 5) Freeze dried buah buahan dan sayuran lokal untuk penyimpanan lebih lama dan menaikkan nilai ekonomis. 6) Pemanfaatan air kelapa menjadi Nata de Coco. 7) Pembuatan agar-agar materi koloid. 8) pembuatan telur asin dengan metode osmosis. Dan 9) Pembuatan Virgin Coconut Oil dengan metode fermentasi.

Abstract

The urgency of this research stems from a follow-up to previous research that mapped the level of inventive thinking among chemistry education students at Sriwijaya University, which was found to be at a moderate level. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further analysis of the factors that influence inventive thinking. This study aims to determine the relationships among Attitude toward Learning, Interest in Learning, and Digital Literacy and Inventive Thinking among Chemistry Education Students at Sriwijaya University. This research is a quantitative, cross-sectional study. Data were collected through a survey. The instrument used was a 59-item Likert-type questionnaire with 4 points on the scale. The questionnaire included 23 items on inventive thinking, 18 on attitude toward learning, 8 on interest in learning, and 10 on digital literacy. The sample for this study consisted of students in the Chemistry Education study program at Sriwijaya University. The research data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of the measurement model test indicated 26 indicators that were valid and reliable. The results of the structural model evaluation showed no multicollinearity problems, and the model explained 61.1% of the variance in the inventive thinking variable, which was classified as high. The results of the path coefficient significance test showed that only Hypothesis 3 had a t-statistic greater than 1.96 and a p-value less than 0.05, indicating that only digital literacy had a positive and significant effect on inventive thinking. Then the results of this research will have implications for the development of learning designs/learning environments that can support the inventive thinking of chemistry education students by integrating learning with digital literacy.

Abstract

Team-based learning is learning that is imposed on students to improve students' critical thinking, problem solving, solution finding, and communication skills. This learning is also useful for lecturers as teaching staff to improve higher abilities and skills. Researchers will combine practicum instructions with a team-based learning model. Team-based project practicum instructions will be able to make students together do practicum utilizing the surrounding environment to produce practicum products. This research is a research development with ADDIE development model and Tessmer formative evaluation. The research stages consist of self evaluation, expert reviews, one to one, small group. The innovation and originality of this research is the valid and practical team-based project practicum instructions used in Biochemistry practicum lectures. The results of the research were tested and used in Biochemistry team-based project practicum lectures. The results of laboratory development validation show the Aiken coefficient of 0.86 for material experts and 0.90 for design experts. The results of the implementation show the practicality of 96.45%. It can be concluded that the biochemistry lab instructions on team based project developed in the Biochemistry practicum is valid and practical.

Abstract

This development research aims to develop LKM green chemistry physics chemistry practical worksheet based on case method as supplementary teaching materials for students of the Chemical Education study program at Sriwijaya University using the 4STMD (Four Step Teaching Materials Development) method. The steps of the 4STMD method, namely the first stage is the selection stage, carried out by analyzing needs, curriculum and analyzing the material by looking for references in various sources. The second stage, namely the structuring stage, is carried out by adding or subtracting material and compiling the material. The third stage is the characterization stage, carried out by developing the results of material analysis. The fourth stage is the didactic reduction stage, but the researcher did not carry out the didactic reduction stage. Data collection techniques used in the form of interviews, pre-research questionnaires and validation questionnaires. In the material validation test, the validity of teaching materials was obtained based on the Aiken coefficient of 0.75 which was categorized as high. Based on these results, it shows that the development of LKM Green Chemistry Physics Chemistry Practical Worksheet Based on Case Method has met the valid criteria.

Abstract

Based on the situation analysis, the formulation of the problem is how to equip the ability, knowledge, and skills of Compiling One Page RPP for chemistry teachers in Sekayu City, South Sumatra and Chemical Education students, FKIP Sriwijaya University. Service activities are carried out by providing counseling for chemistry teachers and village lectures for students, preparing a Chemistry Learning Implementation Plan. The purpose of this service is to prepare an example of an integrated high school and vocational high school chemistry learning program plan with PBL, Project, or STEM models. This service activity is beneficial for teachers and students to the community through chemistry. 14 Sekayu City chemistry teachers and 8 chemistry students are the target audience for this community service activity. The target of dedication was achieved, from the results of the evaluation of the activities of each target audience, they compiled an example of a One-Page Learning Implementation Plan. The Learning Implementation Plan has the nuances of chemistry teachers and students close to the daily activities of the community. Suggestions from this community service activity are that the target audience can socialize and implement this One Page Learning Implementation Plan in their respective schools.

Abstract

Bahan kimia berpotensi membahayakan kesehatan manusia dan lingkungan apabila digunakan secara tidak bijak, ceroboh, tidak terkendali, tidak tepat, dan tidak aman. Maka diperlukan dan mendesak adanya penyiapan manusia (dalam hal ini peserta didik di sekolah) yang memahami lingkungannya, yang sadar akan konsep kimia hijau. Pergeseran paradigma ini tidak hanya bertujuan untuk mengurangi dampak lingkungan dari praktik kimia tetapi juga mempromosikan keberlanjutan. Kebutuhan mitra yaitu pendampingan mengenai prinsip kimia hijau yang dapat diterapkan di sekolah, baik dalam pembelajaran maupun kesadaran siswa dalam kehidupan sehari-hari untuk lebih peduli lingkungan. Hasil observasi juga menunjukkan bahwa potensi bahan alam yang dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti bahan kimia berbahaya, seperti bunga yang memiliki warna cerah yang dapat dijadikan indikator asam basa, bahan makanan yang mudah dicari karena posisi sekolah didekat pasar, misal membutuhkan lemon untuk praktikum redoks.  Solusi atas permasalahan yaitu dilakukan pendampingan guna meningkatkan student’s awareness terhadap kimia hijau. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terdiri dari 6 kegiatan yaitu 1) Penyampaian Materi (Sosialisasi 12 prinsip kimia hijau), 2) Demonstrasi Praktikum, 3) Penguatan Materi dan Kuis, 4) Diskusi Kelompok, 5) Pembuatan Produk dan 6) Presentasi Produk. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa di SMA Srijaya Negara telah memiliki tingkat kesadaran/awareness yang baik terhadap kimia hijau, yang tercermin dari dominasi kategori baik dan sangat baik dalam hasil penilaian. Selain hal tersebut, siswa SMA Srijaya Negara juga sudah menunjukkan kemampuan yang baik dalam mengolah serta menuangkan pengetahuan mereka mengenai konsep kimia hijau ke dalam bentuk infografis yang informatif dan menarik.

Abstract

Module instrument validation plays an important role in ensuring the quality of the module. For this reason, the purpose of this study was to develop a valid instrument for the development of STEM-Integrated Chemistry Learning Module and chemically characterized Entrepreneurship Course for the millennial generation at Sriwijaya University’s Chemistry Education Study Program. The instrument includes content, pedagogy, and design or practicality validation, which is valid, practical, and effective for limited trials. The respondents of this study were semester-6 students and lecturers of Chemistry Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University. The results of instrument validation by experts showed that the average Aiken coefficient value on material was 0.92, pedagogy 0.73, and practicality 0.74, which are in very high and high categories. The results indicated that the module development instrument has met the validity and practicality criteria

Abstract

Design thinking is an innovation methodology that combines skills, processes and mindset. Design thinking is becoming increasingly popular in education as a way to encourage students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Teachers and students can solve wicked problems creatively using design thinking. This research aims to determine the validity and practicality of an ethnoscience-based design thinking e-book. This research was conducted using walkthroughs and questionnaires. Validation data was analyzed using Cohen's Kappa while practicality data was analyzed using percentages. The results show that the ethnoscience-based design thinking textbook that was developed was said to be valid in aspects of design, systematics, substance and writing style. The textbooks being developed are also said to be very practical in terms of design, language, material and interest aspects.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of producing a guided-inquiry–based E-LKPD suitable for the topic of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions for Grade XII high school students, and which meets the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective in supporting learning activities. The development of the E-LKPD followed the ADDIE model, but was limited only to the development stage. In addition, the development process was integrated with Tessmer’s formative evaluation stages, which include self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, small-group evaluation, and field testing. The validation results from the expert review stage showed that the pedagogical aspect obtained a score of 0.83 (high category), the material aspect 0.83 (high category), and the design aspect 0.88 (high category). The average validation score across the three aspects was 0.84, which falls into the high category. The practicality of the product was rated very practical, with an average percentage of 98.41% in the one-to-one evaluation stage and 98.94% in the small-group evaluation stage. Meanwhile, regarding effectiveness in the field test stage, the N-Gain calculation showed a value of 0.84, which is categorized as high.
