Abstract

This research aims to analyze the instillation of religious moderation values through the learning of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in Sidomakmur State Elementary School students, Way Panji District, South Lampung Regency. Religious moderation is an important issue in the context of Indonesia's diversity, especially in forming attitudes of tolerance, balance and respect for differences among students. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews with PAI teachers, students and school stakeholders, as well as analysis of documents related to the curriculum and learning materials. The research results show that PAI teachers play a crucial role in instilling the values of religious moderation through inclusive, dialogical and contextual learning approaches. Values such as tolerance, justice, balance, and respect for differences are integrated in teaching materials, religious activities, and daily interactions at school. Obstacles faced include limited time, students' lack of understanding of the concept of moderation, as well as challenges in aligning moderation values with students' social environment. The main contribution of the findings of this research lies in the concrete mapping of PAI teachers' effective learning strategies in instilling the values of religious moderation at the elementary school level. These findings provide a new perspective that religious moderation can be taught systematically from an early age, not just at secondary or higher education levels. This research also strengthens the urgency of PAI teacher training in developing materials and methods that support the formation of students' moderate character.

Abstract

This study explores the role of prayer habits in shaping the religious character of students at the SMART Tutoring Institute in Bandar Sribhawono, East Lampung. Within the context of non-formal education, prayer serves as a key medium for cultivating religious values and character. Using a qualitative approach, this research employs observation, interviews, and documentation methods. The findings indicate that the practice of praying before and after study sessions positively contributes to the development of students' religious character, particularly in terms of patience, piety, gratitude, empathy, discipline, and responsibility. Beyond spiritual development, this habit also enhances social interactions among students and between students and teachers. Despite challenges—such as varying levels of focus during prayer and the diversity of students' religious backgrounds—the SMART Tutoring Institute has effectively integrated prayer into its activities in an adaptive manner. The implementation of this habit fosters a more conducive learning environment, promotes religious behavior, and contributes to improved academic performance. The study recommends that prayer be systematically incorporated into learning activities at non-formal educational institutions to help nurture a generation grounded in strong character and faith.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah Treatise in reinforcing the values of Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) within the tradition of Lailatul Ijtima, as practiced by the Sukabumi Branch Representative Council of Nahdlatul Ulama in Bandar Lampung City. Lailatul Ijtima is a routine tradition held by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) that serves to strengthen fellowship among members, deepen religious knowledge, and reaffirm a commitment to moderate Islamic teachings rooted in the Aswaja perspective. As the primary reference in this tradition, the Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah Treatise plays a vital role in guiding participants toward sound Islamic creed (aqidah), sharia aligned with the Sunnah, and virtuous character (akhlaq). This study employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation to examine the implementation of Lailatul Ijtima at the Sukabumi NU Branch. Data were collected through interviews with religious leaders, administrators, and participants to assess the impact of the Treatise on enhancing understanding and practice of Aswaja values among NU members. The findings reveal that the Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah Treatise significantly contributes to deepening the understanding and application of Aswaja teachings, particularly within the Lailatul Ijtima tradition. The text emphasizes the principles of moderate belief, sharia consistent with the Qur'an and Hadith, and the importance of moral integrity and interfaith tolerance. Additionally, the Treatise serves as a unifying reference that fosters collective awareness, preserves religious traditions, and guards against deviant ideologies. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on contextual Aswaja practice at the grassroots level, particularly within regional NU communities. It offers practical insights into how classical Islamic texts are utilized in religious traditions to strengthen a moderate Islamic identity. The findings may also inform educational institutions and religious organizations in developing contextual and tradition-based Islamic learning strategies that remain relevant in contemporary society

Abstract

This study aims to examine how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instructors support the development of religious moderation awareness among 10th-grade students at Al-Qur'an Tri Bhakti At-Taqwa Senior High School. The study is motivated by increasing issues of intolerance and exclusive religious views among students, which highlight the strategic role of educators in internalizing the values of moderation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation involving PAI teachers, the school principal, and several 10th-grade students. The findings indicate that PAI instructors play a significant role in cultivating moderate attitudes by serving as mentors, educators, and role models. Through instruction emphasizing tolerance, justice, openness, and real-life examples in social interactions, teachers help enhance students’ awareness of diversity and respect within religious communities. According to the principal, M. Fathurrahman, M.Pd., the school is committed to educating a generation with noble character and a moderate understanding of religion. Nevertheless, several challenges were identified, including diverse student backgrounds, limited instructional time for PAI, and the influence of family and community environments that often promote exclusive perspectives. Teachers addressed these challenges through personalized guidance, reflective discussions, and the integration of moderate values into religious activities and cross-disciplinary learning. Interviews with students revealed positive changes in their attitudes and behaviors toward religious differences.
