Abstract

This conceptual study evaluates the implementation, challenges, and possible solutions to teacher distribution in Indonesia in 2021. The researcher analyzed the issue based on archival records and previous research findings by using document analysis. The researcher found several main factors contributing to the challenges of teacher distribution in Indonesia, including the problem of education management, geography, and teachers’ personal constraints. The findings indicate that Indonesia still encounter challenges in terms of implementing an ideal and comprehensive distribution of teachers. The distribution of authority related to school policies to the provincial level seems to still need improvement and good synchronization between the central government and local governments, including the issue of increasing human resource capacity. This study recommends that the Government of Indonesia manages the distribution of teachers by firstly analyzing the factors that influence it, so that the rights of students to get proper education, and teachers’ needs as a human, especially in remote areas, can be fulfilled

Abstract

Despite growing recognition of early childhood education’s (ECE) importance, rural communities in post-conflict settings often lack access to quality ECE services. This study examines how Islamic educational philosophy inspired and sustained a community-driven ECE initiative in rural North Aceh, Indonesia, following decades of conflict and natural disaster. This research investigated the sources of inspiration that motivated a rural Muslim community to establish and operate a community-based early childhood education centre, with particular focus on how religious values catalysed collective action for educational development. An ethnographic case study approach was employed in Gampong Blang, North Aceh, involving observations, interviews, and document analysis with 27 participants including community members, village stakeholders, and educators. Data were analysed through Al-Attas’ concepts of ta’dib (ethical education) and adab (proper conduct reflecting social consciousness). The Islamic principle “seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave” served as a powerful catalyst for community mobilisation, inspiring villagers to transform their traditional meunasah (Islamic community centre) into a modern ECE facility. Al-Attas’ educational philosophy, emphasising the balance between ilmu (knowledge) and adab (moral character), resonated with local aspirations for holistic child development. The community successfully integrated religious values with contemporary educational practices, creating culturally responsive pedagogy that honoured both Islamic teachings and local traditions. This study demonstrates how religious educational philosophy can effectively motivate grassroots educational initiatives in Muslim communities. The findings suggest that ECE development in Islamic contexts benefits from approaches that integrate spiritual and academic learning, challenging purely secular early childhood education models. The research offers insights for developing culturally responsive ECE programs that respect local values while meeting contemporary educational standards.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the role of religion as a trigger to the conflict while acting as a social integration to seek a viable, inclusive solution. The research method employed in this study is qualitative, with phenomenology of religion as the approach. The data is collected through observation, interviews, and online media to be classified and analyzed as the discussion and findings. The research found that religious identity creates a discriminatory basis, while religious sentiment worsens the situation, especially when some religious extremists are involved in the conflict. The critical factors in the crisis are the geopolitics of religion, identity formation, communal solidarity, and the global view of the crisis. The Acehnese people saw the refugee crisis as a problem of security and regional stability, human rights, Muslim solidarity, and a geopolitical concern. The involvement of international actors and mass media also contributed to the acceptance issue. This research contributes to understanding the conflict dynamics, Acehnese’s acceptance of the refugees, and its relevance to Southeast Asia politics. The study can also be a reference for more inclusive policy-making in Aceh and Indonesia concerning similar cases.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the digital literacy position of students using social media in Aceh and see its relation to the issue of OGBV as victims and bystanders. This research also investigates the relationship between digital literacy, OGBV, and the role of Sharia Law in Aceh, which may provide a new perspective for preventing OGBV in Indonesia, considering the paucity of previous studies correlating those three aspects. This research utilized the concept of Digital Literacy created by Paul Gilster and used the Four-Component Digital Literacy Model developed by Alexander V. Sharikov. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach. Researchers conducted in-depth interviews with nine students and analyzed them using Thematic Analysis. The results revealed that most participants do not have a knowledge base about OGBV, which has implications for their digital literacy capital, especially in identifying various OGBV variants and how to protect personal data on social media. In addition, Islamic law influences participants' digital literacy in dealing with OGBV. However, participants' knowledge of Sharia law values regarding safe and responsible digital interaction patterns has yet to develop comprehensively.

Abstract

As one of the most versatile plants, Jatropha curcas is spread in various regions around the world because of the great benefits it provides. However, Jatropha curcas is easily attacked by viruses which then cause damage to the plant, such as yellowing leaves and secreting sap, making it necessary to identify Jatropha curcas disease to deal with the problem as early as possible so that the losses incurred are not too large. An expert system was built to be able to identify Jatropha curcas disease by adopting expert knowledge. The use of the Random Forest algorithm as one of the classification algorithms was applied in this study. By using a random forest, several disease prediction classes are generated by each decision tree that has been formed. The disease class with the most votes was used as the final result. In this study, the data used were 166 data with 9 diseases and 30 symptoms. The results showed that Random Forest outperformed other algorithms such as Fuzzy Neural Network and Extreme Learning Machine with an accuracy of 98.002% using the composition of training data and test data of 70:30.

Abstract

The global movement towards inclusive education has gained momentum in recent years, aiming to provide equitable education for all students, regardless of their abilities. Indonesia, in response to this transformative movement, has ratified an inclusive education policy, aiming to provide educational opportunities to students with disabilities within regular classroom settings. However, translating policy into practice poses significant challenges, with deeply entrenched medical model perspectives influencing public perceptions of individuals with disabilities. This article delves into the necessity of fostering a comprehensive understanding of and valuing diversity to support the establishment of an inclusive school environment in Indonesia. It explores the essential shift from the medical to the social model in understanding students with disabilities and highlights the significant role of beliefs and attitudes in shaping the implementation of inclusive education. Furthermore, it examines the alignment of Islamic values, particularly the "Fikih Difabel", with the principles of inclusive education. The article emphasizes the pivotal role of creating an inclusive culture within schools, guided by the Index for Inclusion, to develop sustainable inclusive practices. Strategies to overcome challenges in promoting acceptance and inclusivity among stakeholders, including educators, parents, and students, are proposed, such as education and awareness, engaging religious scholars, collaboration and partnership, cultivating an inclusive school culture, parent and community involvement, monitoring and evaluation, and advocacy for policy reform.By aligning inclusive education principles with Islamic values, specifically through the "Fikih Difabel," Muhammadiyah can lead by example in fostering inclusive school environments within its institutions. These efforts can positively impact the lives of students with disabilities and promote a sense of unity and empathy among all students, contributing to a truly inclusive society in Indonesia.

Abstract

Anti-washout concrete (AWC) is a specialized cement-based material designed to be applied directly in underwater environments, maintain mix integrity, and prevent material washout. AWC can. This research aims to evaluate the performance of anti-washout concrete in seawater environments containing chemical compounds aggressive to concrete, by examining the ability of concrete to withstand loads, resistance to washout, and structural stability when exposed to seawater environments. The test methods used included aggregate characteristics, slump flow, compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural strength at 7, 14, 28, and 56 days of concrete age. The results showed that concrete with fresh water (AB) had higher compressive, split tensile, and flexural strengths than concrete using artificial seawater (AL), with a decrease in compressive strength in AL against AB of 7.29% at 14 days, 11.20% at 28 days, and 12.69% at 56 days. AWC met the minimum compressive strength requirement of 70% of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) standard, indicating that AWC with artificial seawater remains viable for underwater construction applications. This study's results are expected to guide the use of anti-washout concrete for various underwater applications, particularly to improve durability and reduce long-term maintenance costs for underwater infrastructure.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the link between revenge porn incidents in Indonesia and users’ digital privacy management, integrating Communication Privacy Management (CPM) and intersectionality theories. Through semi-structured interviews with six Acehnese university students who had witnessed such cases (through first-hand observation of distributed content, and close relationships with victims), the research finds that participants had limited understanding of revenge porn and were unaware that insufficient personal data management—exacerbated by intersecting structural disadvantages—often underlies victimisation. Thematic analysis revealed failures in all five CPM principles: private information ownership, control, rules, co-ownership and guardianship, and boundary turbulence. When combined with intersecting factors such as gender, religion, technological access, and cultural conservatism, these failures increase vulnerability to online gender-based violence. Participants mainly attributed incidents to external causes (religious violations, poor parental control, inadequate sexuality education). However, they had challenges to recognize how these structural factors constrain personal agency rather than simply representing external influences. The study advances CPM theory by demonstrating that privacy management principles operate within matrices of intersecting power systems and extends intersectionality applications by specifying concrete mechanisms through which multiple oppressions shape digital privacy vulnerability. The study concludes that prevention requires comprehensive interventions: digital ownership education, culturally responsive privacy control training, explicit privacy rule negotiation in intimate relationships, responsible co-ownership management, and early boundary turbulence mitigation. The findings advance theoretical understanding of digital privacy violations as intersectional phenomena and offer practical frameworks for targeted prevention programmes that empower users while acknowledging structural constraints.    Keywords: communication privacy management; data privacy; digital literacy; intersectionality; revenge porn
