Abstract

On December 2, 2018, Immanuel Church of GPM Amahusu Klasis in Moluccas, Indonesia, hosted a cross-religious ritual involving the Muslim and Christian communities. The "worship orang basudara" (worship of brothers) ritual took place during the first advent week, with participation from Tial Village and Laha Village (Muslim community) and Amahusu Village and Hatalai Village (Christian community). The ritual incorporated religious symbols such as the call to prayer, recitation of the Rawi Barzani, lighting one of four candles, and singing hymns. This article examines how the social interaction process manages the frontstage and backstage impressions displayed by the Muslim community after participating in the ritual. Data were collected from fifteen individuals through participant observation and interviews, using a qualitative approach based on a subjective interpretive paradigm from a dramaturgical perspective. The findings reveal that the Muslim community involved in the ritual manages impressions through self-repentance, supplication to Allah SWT, and mutual acceptance with the Christian community in social contexts. After the ritual, the Muslim community engages in frontstage social interactions with fellow involved Muslims, non-involved families (negation families), non-involved communities (exclusion communities), religious organisations, and government institutions. Backstage actions include self-introspection (self-evaluation of engagement), repentance (admission of guilt), and prayer (asking for help). This article contributes to understanding the subjective experiences of Muslim communities following ritual involvement, particularly in managing backstage impressions. It suggests that Muslim-Christian communities can overcome disharmony through mutual acceptance of religious differences, promoting peace through contemporary human values.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Sago is a staple food especially for Papuans. To process sago, the pith crushing and extraction process is very time-consuming and labor-intensive. The purpose of this research is to develop a threaded stirrer type sago starch extraction machine equipped with a grater unit. This research consists of three stages, namely (1) machine development, (2) machine testing and (3) economic feasibility analysis. The research method used was an experimental method using a completely randomized design consisting of three treatments of the type of grater cylinder, namely (1) 4 mm iron axle 20 mm high (P1), circular saw cutting edge (P2) and chain saw serrations (P3). The performance of each treatment was evaluated by measuring variables (1) processing capacity, (2) starch yield, (3) starch production, (4) loss of starch left in the pulp and (5) gasoline fuel consumption. Based on the results of the research, it shows that the threaded stirrer type sago starch extraction machine equipped with a grating unit from the development works well in field conditions. The results of the performance test in field conditions showed that the treatment of the type of grater serrations gave no significant effect on processing capacity, starch yield, starch production, starch loss in dregs and gasoline fuel consumption. Abstract

Purpose: The activities about sustainable sago cultivation techniques aim to increase knowledge and understanding of the Women's Fellowship and PKK farmer groups in the field of sago cultivation. This is because sago is the staple food of the local community in Baingkete and its surroundings. By increasing sago production, it is hoped that it can improve community welfare and reduce dependence on imported food ingredients. Research methodology: The methods applied in this activity include counseling (providing knowledge and understanding about sago cultivation), demonstration and training (direct practice of planting sago on land owned by farmer groups), discussion and consultation, and program evaluation (giving statements to participants before and after training). Result: The results of the activity showed that the participants were quite enthusiastic about asking questions regarding sago cultivation. They are also very active during the practice of planting sago on the land. The level of community knowledge about sago planting techniques has increased about 25%. Training, practice, and field assistance related to sago cultivation also increased from 40% to 85%. Limitation : The practice of sago cultivation techniques is carried out on 1 ha of agricultural land. And knowing how to increase sago production cannot be done immediately considering the length of time the sago plant grows until it can be harvested. Contribution: This activity is beneficial for the community, which learns about sustainable and environmentally friendly sago cultivation practices. This includes sustainable soil management techniques, the use of organic fertilizer, and the maintenance of a healthy ecosystem.
