Abstract

Teaching social science in elementary schools is not only conveying theories but also real forms of implementation and problems that often arise in the daily environment. This is be able to develop students' critical thinking in reconstructing events and the values contained therein. However, the media and learning methods used today have not been able to improve students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to analyse the improvement students' critical thinking skills through the application of collaboration between PBL and IBL models using video. The research subjects were elementary school students who were in grade 5, consisting of 30 students. The instrument used for data collection in this study was a descriptive description test. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive statistical technique. This research design uses classroom action research which consists of three cycles. The results showed that critical thinking skills increased in each cycle. In the first cycle, 50.33% of critical thinking skills in the second cycle increased to 69.83% and in the third cycle increased to 78.38%. So the conclusion from the results of this study is that the implementation of PBL and IBL models through video media is proven to be able to improve students' critical thinking skills, thus, it is proven that the integration between innovative learning models and learning media contributes positively to the improvement of students' abilities and competencies.

Abstract

Technology in education encourages more effective learning facilitation processes. The lack of variation and innovation in the use of technology used in the form of learning media as a means of supporting learning activities raises many new problems for educational institutions. This research aims to identify the need to create innovations in the implementation of science learning, whose research focus is to analyze the needs for developing smartphone-based innovative augmented reality (AR) learning media. This research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Teachers and students of junior high schools in Surakarta became the subject of this research. The results showed that students were less focused and unmotivated when participating in the learning process. In addition, the use of learning media is still conventional and not interactive, even though currently all students have smartphones. Based on field facts, the media used by teachers still tends to be conventional, and the majority of students have technological devices such as smartphones, there is great potential for developing innovative technology-based learning media. Smartphone ownership and the lack of interactive learning media are important foundations in innovating the development of smartphone-based augmented reality.

Abstract

Nowadays it is very important for educators to know a theme regarding approaches to learning. Therefore, this study aims to analyze various learning approaches such as pedagogic, andragogic, and heutagogic as learning approaches that are commonly used in education delivery. The research method used is a literature review. The data collection technique for this research was to study articles related to pedagogic, andragogic, and heutagogic followed by analysis of qualitative descriptive data with a sample number after going through the screening and feasibility stages of 14 papers, total of 459 papers found from three databases during the identification process. The results of this study indicate that each approach has different characteristics and can be applied according to the characteristics of the students and the material, the pedagogic approach can be applied at the early education level, andragogic is very suitable for adult learning, and the heutagogic approach. This approach is relevant to higher education. Through this research can be used as a reference for teachers to choose an approach that suits the characteristics of their students.

Abstract

In the current educational landscape, the development of critical thinking abilities is becoming increasingly important, especially considering the prevalence of hybrid learning methods. This investigation aimed to evaluate the proficiency of critical thinking skills in students who are immersed in hybrid learning. A descriptive quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing observation, documentation, and critical thinking assessments to collect data from a sample of 60 students from vocational high schools. The findings highlight two main results: firstly, the majority of students demonstrate a low level of critical thinking skills within the hybrid learning context, indicating the need for improvement; secondly, various factors that influence these skills were identified. These outcomes emphasize the challenges associated with acquiring 21st-century skills and emphasize the necessity for collaborative efforts. Both educators and students must enhance their commitment to effective learning preparation, with a particular emphasis on motivation to foster improved critical thinking abilities. This research provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers who are striving to enhance the hybrid learning environment in order to better cultivate critical thinking skills in students.

Abstract

Various competencies that students need to master in an effort to strengthen competitiveness, especially in the field of human resources in the 21st century. Learning media integrated with technology is one of the important learning resources to support the learning process. The lack of innovation in the use of learning media that is integrated with technology makes it less optimal for the achievement of learning objectives and mastery of competencies by students. This study aims to identify the need for opportunities for developing instructional media that are integrated with flipbook-based technology in the hope that it can increase students' opportunities in improving scientific literacy skills. This research is a qualitative research with a survey method. Data collection techniques using observations and needs analysis questionnaires. The quantitative data from the questionnaire were then analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques using percentages that were displayed in a table. The research subjects took senior high school students in grades one and two, with a total of 70 students. The results of this study indicate that 35.7% of students stated that teachers still use Microsoft Powerpoint media and 27.1% of printed teaching materials. The results also showed that students had positive perceptions of the opportunities for developing and utilizing flipbooks as a medium for digital learning. Through the results of this research, it can become the basis for educators in developing and implementing flipbook-based digital learning media to facilitate the learning process.

Abstract

The low performance of teachers is a problem currently faced by educational institutions. In the midst of increasingly complex demands for mastery of competencies, the role of teachers as learning facilitators is important in facilitating students to achieve the competencies needed in the global era like today. Through research that aims to determine the influence of factors that contribute to teacher performance, namely the managerial skills of principals and work motivation, it is hoped that they will be able to become the basis for making policy innovations that can increase teacher productivity and performance. This research is a quantitative research. The research sample consisted of 128 teachers. The questionnaire is the data collection instrument used in research activities. The collected data is then analyzed using a regression formula in accordance with the variables to be tested. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of principal managerial skills on teacher performance by 77.1%, other factors are motivation, the effect of work motivation on teacher performance is 74.6%, and for the two variables principal managerial skills and work motivation are variable. jointly affect teacher performance by 87.7%. From the findings in this study, it can be concluded that fluctuations in teacher performance fluctuations are strongly influenced by the managerial dynamics of school principals and teacher work motivation. Apart from several other factors that also contribute to improving teacher performance

Abstract

Vocational education is one of the educational institutions that has a high concern for producing graduates with superior competence and competitiveness. The variety of competencies needed in the business and industrial world (DUDI) makes institutions such as vocational and vocational schools have to always innovate in order to be able to provide competences that are truly aligned with DUDI needs. One of them is through the application of innovative learning models which are expected to bring effects and changes to the learning climate. This research is to analyze supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of Project Based Learning in Vocational Education, and to identify the understanding of some Educators of PjBL both conceptually and practically. This research is included in the type of qualitative research, and will take a sample of 6 (six) teaching staff in vocational schools, with data collection techniques namely interviews, observation, questionnaires and documentation. Research finding data will be analyzed interactively and described to provide an overview of actual field events. Research results prove that project-based learning can run optimally due to the support of all school members, and commitment from teachers in learning activities. Students are also seen to be very active and skilled in completing a given project. Through the application of project-based learning, it is hoped that students can learn actual competencies or skills. It is hoped that through the results of this research, educators and vocational schools can use the project-based learning model (PjBL) as a learning model that is still relevant to the current curriculum implementation.
