Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the n-hexane fraction of Moringa leaf ethanol extract (Moringa oleifera L.) on low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels in Sprague Dawley male rat strains fed a high-fat diet. This study used a pre-test and post-test control design on male rats of the Sprague Dawley strain. Thirty-six male white rats of the Sprague Dawley strain were given high-fat diet and then divided into six groups: group I was normal group, group II negative control was given CMC Na, Group III positive control was given Simvastatin 10 mg, Group IV, V, VI was given n-hexane fraction of ethanol extract of Moringa leaves (Dose 3,722 mg/kgBW; 7.444 mg/kgBW; 14,888 mg/kgBW). The results of measuring low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels in animals were measured after 14 days of research as a post-test. Based on statistical analysis, there was no significant difference between the positive control group and the three treatment groups (p=1,000). The results of this study can conclude that the dose of the n-hexane fraction of Moringa leaves has a significant effect on decreasing LDL levels in male Sprague Dawley rats with the best % reduction at a dose of 14.89 mg/kg BW (61.17%), with a linear regression equation y=-0.0408x + 1.079; (R2=0.986). The results of this study indicate that the n-hexane part of Moringa leaves may reduce low-density lipoprotein levels in male white Wistar rats induced by high-fat.

Abstract

Background: The mahogany plant (Swietenia mahagoni) is a plant used in medicine. Mahogany seeds are also efficacious as antiseptics, antioxidants, and antimicrobials. This plant contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, essential oils, alkaloids, and anthraquinones. The higher the phenolic content in a plant, the higher the antioxidant activity. According to previous studies, it was stated that the methanol extract of mahogany seeds has good antioxidant properties, and the phenolic compounds contained in mahogany seeds can be the main contributors to antioxidant activity.Objectives: This study aims to analyze the total phenolic content, measure the inhibition concentration 50% (IC50) and determine the antioxidant activity of mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni) seed infusion.Methods: This type of research is experimental which begins with extraction using the infusion method at a temperature of 900C for 15 minutes followed by measuring the total phenolic content by reacting the infusion preparation and the Gallic acid respectively with the Follin-ciocalteu reagent. The antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH (,-diphenyl--picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging method. Each absorbance was measured using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. The phenolic test was measured by making a linear regression between concentration and absorbance, followed by calculating the total phenolic content. Meanwhile, the absorbance obtained for the antioxidant test was calculated by calculating the percent inhibition. The IC50 is determined by calculating the linear regression of the relationship between concentration and percent inhibition.Result: The results of the phenolic content were 2.531 ± 0.029 mg GAE/g, the IC50 value for gallic acid was 5.54 ppm, and for mahogany seed extract, the IC50 value was 47.04 ppm, which is a very strong antioxidant.Conclusion: This study concluded that the phenolic content of mahogany seed infusion extract contained phenolic compounds equivalent to 2.531 ± 0,029 mg GAE/g of gallic acid and that mahogany seed extract had very strong antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Abstrak-Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan menggambarkan implementasi kelas virtual TV Sekolah pada pembelajaran berbasis budaya lokal di Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) AL-FAIZIN. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif untuk memahami secara mendalam bagaimana kelas virtual TV Sekolah dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam lingkungan pembelajaran PAUD. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti melakukan observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumentasi untuk mengumpulkan data. Partisipan penelitian melibatkan guru, siswa, dan orang tua di PAUD AL-FAIZIN yang terlibat langsung dalam implementasi kelas virtual TV Sekolah. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan fokus pada temuan yang menggambarkan dampak dan manfaat dari integrasi kelas virtual TV Sekolah dalam pembelajaran berbasis budaya lokal di PAUD. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi kelas virtual TV Sekolah di PAUD AL-FAIZIN memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap pembelajaran berbasis budaya lokal. Ditemukan peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa, kreativitas, dan keterlibatan orang tua dalam proses pendidikan anak-anak mereka. Selain itu, kelas virtual TV Sekolah efektif dalam mengembangkan keterampilan sosial, kognitif, dan motorik anak-anak PAUD. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan yang berharga tentang potensi penggunaan kelas virtual TV Sekolah sebagai metode inovatif dalam konteks PAUD. Implikasi dari temuan ini dapat memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan strategi pembelajaran berbasis proyek di tingkat PAUD, dengan memperhitungkan aspek teknologi dan inspirasi visual melalui kelas virtual TV Sekolah.Kata Kunci : Kelas Virtual, TV Sekolah, PAUD, Pembelajaran Berbasis Budaya LokalAbstract - This research aims to explore and describe the implementation of School TV virtual classes in local culture-based learning in AL-FA'IZIN Early Childhood Education (PAUD). The research method used is qualitative descriptive research to understand in depth how School TV virtual classes can be integrated into the PAUD learning environment. In this research, researchers carried out observations, interviews and documentation analysis to collect data. The research participants involved teachers, students and parents at PAUD AL-FA'IZIN who were directly involved in the implementation of the School TV virtual class. The collected data was analyzed using a qualitative approach, with a focus on findings that illustrate the impact and benefits of integrating School TV virtual classes in local culture-based learning in PAUD. The research results show that the implementation of virtual School TV classes at PAUD AL-FA'IZIN makes a positive contribution to local culture-based learning. It was found that there was an increase in student learning motivation, creativity, and parental involvement in their children's educational process. In addition, TV Sekolah virtual classes are effective in developing the social, cognitive and motor skills of PAUD children. This research provides valuable insight into the potential use of School TV virtual classrooms as an innovative method in the PAUD context. The implications of these findings can contribute to the development of project-based learning strategies at the PAUD level, taking into account technological aspects and visual inspiration through School TV virtual classes.Keywords: Virtual Class, School TV, PAUD, Local Culture Based Learning

Abstract

Lamtoro leaves (Leucaena leucocephala) have long been a traditionally used plant because they are rich in nutrients and have several health benefits. Antioxidants are compounds that can protect organisms from oxidation and free radicals, which are factors that cause cell damage. This study aims to determine the IC50 value and antioxidant activity of 70% ethanol extract and acetone extract from lamtoro leaves. The extraction of lamtoro leaves was carried out using the soaking method with 70% ethanol solvent and acetone solvent, respectively. The antioxidant activity test was carried out by determining the free radical inhibitory activity of DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl). Absorbance measurements were carried out using a UV-Vis Spectrofotometer at a wavelength of 517 nm. 70% ethanol extract and acetone extract of lamtoro leaves have very strong antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 41.18 ppm and 3,87 ppm, respectively. This result is the same as the comparison, namely vitamin C, which also has very strong antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 1.42 ppm. The conclusion of this research is that the acetone extract of lamtoro leaves have very strong antioxidant activity because they are still in the range of less than 50 ppm.

Abstract

Bioactive substances found in kenikir leaves may be used as sunscreens. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the kenikir leaf ethanol extract (EEDK) and hexane extract (EHDK) as potential sunscreens. The maceration method is used for extraction, and 70% ethanol and n-hexane are used as each solvent. employing the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 290–400 nm and concentration series of 200, 400, 600, and 800 ppm to measure the SPF value of EEDK and EHDK. With SPF values of 1.3896 ± 0.0343, 1.7936 ± 0.0144, 2.2282 ± 0.0580, and 3.2575 ± 0.2257 obtained at concentrations of 200 ppm, 400 ppm, 600 ppm, and 800 ppm, respectively, the results demonstrate the potential of EEDK as a sunscreen. 1.1454 ± 0.0204; 1.3193 ± 0.0048; 1.4993 ± 0.0169 are the EHDK SPF values.

Abstract

Lobak putih (Raphanus sativus L.) merupakan tanaman yang mengandung flavonoid, fenolik, dan saponin yang berperan sebagai antioksidan. Flavonoid merupakan senyawa fenolik alami yang sangat umum ditemukan pada berbagai jenis tanaman. Senyawa ini mengandung satu atau lebih gugus hidroksil (-OH) yang terikat pada cincin aromatik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan jenis pelarut terhadap kadar total flavonoid dan fenolik dalam ekstrak umbi lobak putih. Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium. Tahapan penelitian meliputi pengambilan sampel, pembuatan simplisia, ekstraksi maserasi umbi lobak putih dengan menggunakan variasi pelarut yaitu etanol 70%, Etil Asetat, dan N-heksana. Pengukuran kadar flavonoid dan fenolik total dilakukan menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis.Hasil skrining fitokimia pada masing-masing ekstrak mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder yaitu alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin dan fenolik. Diperoleh kadar total flavonoid ekstrak umbi lobak putih pada pelarut etanol 70%, Etil Asetat, dan N-heksana berturut-turut 3,433 ± 0,298 mgQE/g; 0,146 ± 0,012 mgQE/g; 0,516 ± 0,026 mgQE/g. Sementara kadar total fenolik berturut-turut yaitu 24,53 ± 0,502 mgGAE/g; 4,4 ± 2,367 mgGAE/g; 6,65 ± 4,038 mgGAE/g. Berdasarkan hasil  analisis One Way ANOVA membuktikan bahwa variasi jenis pelarut memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap kadar flavonoid dan fenolik total ekstrak umbi lobak putih dengan nilai signifikansi masing-masing 0,000* dan 0,001* (P<0,05).

Abstract

This research was motivated by the need for culturally relevant learning resources at PAUD AL-FA’IZIN to strengthen children's understanding of local values. Observations indicated that early childhood learners still face difficulties in understanding and internalizing the philosophical values of Minangkabau culture, particularly Adat Basandi Syara’, Syara’ Basandi Kitabullah (ABS-SBK), with a special focus on Alam Takambang Jadi Guru. Existing learning materials have not fully integrated these values into daily teaching and learning activities. Therefore, this study aimed to develop an ABS-SBK-based storybook as a contextual and engaging learning medium for children. The research used a Research and Development (RnD) approach, employing the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data were collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires involving teachers, parents, and experts in education and culture. The storybook was developed using narratives that incorporate ABS-SBK values and illustrations appropriate to early childhood developmental stages. Validation results showed that the storybook is feasible and has a high level of readability. Teachers and parents responded positively, and children demonstrated improved understanding and application of these values. The study concludes that the storybook is an effective learning medium for strengthening cultural identity from an early age.

Abstract

Introduction: Families play a crucial role in caring for members with schizophrenia, but the stress and depression resulting from caregiving often overshadow the coping mechanisms used. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress, depression, and coping mechanisms in families caring for individuals with schizophrenia. Methods: A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was used. The sample included 59 families with members suffering from schizophrenia who were receiving treatment at the Outpatient Clinic of dr. Samsi Jacobalis Mental Hospital in Bangka Belitung Islands Province in 2024. Stress and depression were measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-42), with Cronbach's alpha values of 0.8806 for stress and 0.9053 for depression. Coping mechanisms were measured using the Brief COPE, with a reliability coefficient of 0.952. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test with SPSS software. Results: The study found that 31 individuals (52.5%) experienced severe stress, and 38 individuals (64.4%) experienced moderate depression. Additionally, 39 individuals (66.1%) exhibited maladaptive coping mechanisms. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between stress and coping mechanisms (p = 0.000), and between depression and coping mechanisms (p = 0.000). Conclusions: The study concludes that there is a relationship between stress and depression with family coping mechanisms in schizophrenia patients. It is recommended that families be provided with clear information about schizophrenia, its impact, and how to care for affected members. Additionally, offering training on adaptive coping strategies, such as relaxation, mindfulness, and acceptance, may help families better manage stress and depression.

Abstract

Caffeine is a natural alkaloid compound found in plants in the leaves, seeds and fruit. The decision of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency regarding provisions for supervision of supplements in Chapter VIII Article 18 paragraph two states that caffeine levels must not exceed 150 mg/day. The aim of this research was to find out caffeine level in energy beverages. This research method applied the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method and the TLC method. The maximum wavelength obtained in this study was 272.55 nm and the linear results and correlation coefficient obtained were obtained. The linearity value obtained at y= 0.0381x + 0.3285 with the correlation equation R2= 0.9389. Caffeine levels obtained from “brand A” energy drink powder samples for first replicate at 49.59 mg/g, second replicate was 48.78 mg/g, third replicate was 47.15 mg/g, and “brand B” sample for first replicate was 31.5625 mg/g, second replicate at 32.375 mg/g. The caffeine levels obtained in the “brand C” sample from first replicate at 59.43 mg/g, second replicate was 60.28 mg/g, and third replicate was 60.09 mg/g. The results of the standard Rf value for caffeine standard were 0.7, the “brand A” energy drink powder sample was 0.75, the “brand B” sample was 0.75 and the “brand C” was 0.75. The conclusion from this research was that the maximum wavelength was 272.55 nm, which was slightly different from the theoretical maximum wavelength of pure caffeine, namely 273 nm. The caffeine levels obtained for samples of energy drink powder from brands A and B met the requirements because it was <50 mg/package and brand C did not meet the requirements because it was >50mg/package. The Rf value results are satisfactory because they were at range 0.2-0.8.

Abstract

Moringa leaves are a major source of antioxidant compounds due to their high content in carotenoids, ascorbic acid, glucosinolates and other bioactives. Lime contains elements of useful chemical compounds, such as alkaloids, polysaccharides, flavonoids, and essential oils. This study aims to obtain a gel formula that is physically stable and stable during storage using the Freeze-Thaw Cycling method from Moringa leaf extract and lime leaf extract. This research is a laboratory experimental research. Gel preparation was carried out with varying concentrations of Moringa leaf extract and lime leaf extract F1 (75%:25%), F2 (50%:50%), and F3 (25%:75%). Testing the physical properties of the gel includes organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion and syneresis. The stability test carried out was a stability test using the Freeze-Thaw Cycling method for 3 cycles by observing the stability to be carried out where each cycle observed physical changes in the gel including organoleptic, homogeneity and pH. The results of gel preparations of the combination of ethanol extract of moringa leaves and lime leaves of formulations 1, 2, and 3 with differences in the concentration of the active substance were declared stable, because there was no significant change from organoleptic observations, homogeneity, pH, adhesion and spreadability. However, statistical tests stated that the 4℃ temperature adhesion test obtained a p value (<0.05) and a 40℃ temperature p value (>0.05), while the 4℃ and 40℃ temperature spreadability test obtained a p value (<0. 05).
