Abstract

modern culture and the pleasant change in South Korea, with lanterns (yudeung) becoming the cultural icon for the festival. A visual analysis of this iconic lantern later produced a brilliant idea for fabric manipulation in the form of sashiko. The purpose of the research is to describe the process of stilation resulting from the visual analysis which was inspired by Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival, a well-established tradition of the local community. This is process-based research focusing on the application of the stilation technique to fabric materials. The research found that the process of stilation resulting from the visual analysis of the lanterns using natural colors resulted in color palettes. The color was added to the thread used in the experiments. The visual analysis also resulted in stilation in the form of a geometric shape applied to fabric materials using a textile manipulation called the technique of sashiko. Sashiko is a technique of hand sewing adopted to embellish a fashion product. The garment manufactured using the technique of sashiko inspired by Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival can be developed into ready-made products in the form of citywears.

Abstract

Currently, humans are increasingly moving towards individualism. This is due to the influence of technological developments and trust issues in society. Therefore, relationships between humans need to be built and maintained in social life for the sustainability of interdependent and bound life. Furthermore, the idea of this research was inspired by the film "Dream", which is about the relationship of togetherness that is established between humans through a Homeless World Cup event. The aim is to describe the translation of inspiration from togetherness into a fashion and fabric manipulation for a cloth accessory. The research method chosen is quasi-qualitative to support the design and manufacturing process of fabric manipulation. The data analysis technique uses a descriptive technique to describe the results of the questionnaire and a simple research analysis to describe the results of textile manipulation. The results of the study showed that the indicators for making fabric manipulation are based on togetherness, unity, and solidarity. Furthermore, the fabric manipulation produced is in the form of fabric weaving and macrame, with a color palette of natural, neutral, and warm colors. Fabric manipulation and color palette are supported by designs that depict cohesion and harmony. Thus, it is forming a ready-to-wear fashion collection with high value and selling power.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of shooting angles in running sports photography on the purchase intention of photo works in Surabaya. Visual aesthetics serve as the main focus, emphasizing elements such as shooting angles, composition, expression, moment, and point of interest. Running events today are not only seen as fitness activities but also as a form of self-expression often captured through photography—especially for sharing on social media. This creates a symbiotic relationship between runners and photographers: runners seek compelling documentation, while photographers offer photography services with commercial value. This study adopts a qualitative approach through visual analysis of photographic works. An experimental method was applied by capturing images from various shooting angles—including high angle, eye level, and low angle—to observe consumer responses to the photos. A total of 29 photo buyers at the Surabaya Medic Air Run 2024 were involved to find out their visual preferences. The findings show that the high angle shooting perspective is more favored than the others, as it effectively captures runners’ movement patterns, track layout, and reduces distractions from foreground and background elements. Additionally, appropriate composition, subject expression, and timing significantly enhance the visual appeal of the photos.
