Abstract

The implementation of the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) at SMP Bina Putra Seputih Agung serves as a strategic platform for internalizing character education values among students within the framework of the Kurikulum Merdeka. This study is motivated by the growing phenomenon of moral decline and decreasing discipline among students as a consequence of globalization. The research focuses on exploring the process of character value cultivation through the application of P5, while also identifying potential challenges in its implementation. Employing a qualitative descriptive methodology, data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings indicate that P5 holds significant potential in fostering essential character values—such as collaboration, responsibility, and individual independence—through project-based activities. Nevertheless, its implementation continues to face several challenges, including limited time allocation and insufficient teacher training. Therefore, strengthening strategies and fostering synergy among key stakeholders are required to optimize the role of P5 as an effective medium for character education in schools

Abstract

In the context of education, leadership is characterized by the commitment and professional work of teachers or educators, encompassing various aspects such as teaching, mentoring, and character development of students. This study explores the factors considered by teachers in developing the character of eighth-grade students at MTs Ma’arif 31 Tri Bhakti Sido Makmur, East Lampung. Teachers, especially those who are new to the profession, must first cultivate their own character, as they serve as role models and exert a direct influence on their students through their attitudes and behaviors. The process of character formation is carried out both inside and outside the classroom using several educational methods, including the Exemplary Method (al-Uswah al-Hasanah), the Habituation Method (Ta‘widiyyah), the Advice and Counsel Method (Mau‘izhah wa al-Nasehah), and the Reward and Punishment Method (‘Iqab). These approaches aim to help students understand and internalize moral and ethical values as part of the school’s character education program—initiated and exemplified by the teachers themselves. This study contributes to the understanding of how teachers’ self-character formation and pedagogical strategies synergize to build students’ moral character. It offers a practical framework for educators and institutions seeking to implement effective character education through Islamic-based pedagogical methods.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Islamic values through dzikir fida’ in fostering the religious character of the congregation at Mushola Darussalamah, Dusun V, Reno Basuki Village, Rumbia District, Central Lampung Regency. Dzikir fida’, as a collective spiritual practice, is identified as an effective medium for strengthening faith, moral conduct, and daily behavior grounded in Islamic values, including i‘tiqādiyyah (creedal), khuluqiyyah (moral), and ‘amaliyyah (practical) dimensions. The research employs a qualitative field approach using purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving dzikir leaders, congregation members, and community figures, with data validity ensured through source triangulation. The findings reveal that dzikir fida’, conducted congregationally every Wednesday night until Thursday with a structured sequence of supplications and the recitation of “lā ilāha illā Allāh” 70,000 times, significantly contributes to the development of religious character. Its impact is reflected in enhanced inner peace, strengthened social solidarity, and increased piety. The influence of the practice is evident across social aspects (reinforcing ukhuwah islāmiyyah), psychological aspects (reducing stress and fostering gratitude), and religious aspects (strengthening faith and discipline in worship). Nevertheless, challenges remain, particularly the limited participation of younger generations, which calls for more intensive outreach and promotion. This study contributes to the discourse on character education rooted in spiritual and cultural traditions and offers recommendations for expanding dzikir fida’ as a moral and spiritual intervention within society.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aimed to identify shortcomings in the Grade VII Arabic teaching materials issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and to develop an improved, curriculum-aligned assessment prototype that supports student accessibility and instructional diagnosis. Design/methods/approach – A Design and Development Research (DDR) approach guided three integrated phases—needs analysis (document review and teacher interviews), prototype design, and expert validation—using a curriculum-evaluation checklist and iterative revision cycles. The analysed textbook authored by Faruq Baharudin and edited by Wahib Dariyadi was systematically mapped for item typology and skill coverage, revealing consistent lesson structures but predominant reliance on written, pragmatic items. Findings – Results indicated a pronounced gap in listening assessment, which emphasized letter- and word-level discrimination and dictation while underrepresenting sentence- and discourse-level comprehension; expert validation produced high I-CVI scores for many items and recommended explicit item-to-competency mapping, graded difficulty markers, and rubric-guided performance tasks. Prototype revisions incorporated sentence-level listening prompts, short-dialogue response items, and rubric-guided speaking and writing assessments to broaden construct coverage and diagnostic capacity. Research Implications – The study implies that curriculum designers, teacher educators, and policymakers should prioritize item-competency alignment, targeted teacher professional development, and modest ICT provisions to realize performance-based assessment benefits. Limitations include reliance on document analysis, interviews, and expert validation without large-scale classroom trials, and the paper recommends phased pilot testing with mixed-methods evaluation to establish effectiveness and scalability.
