Abstract

The research focused on The Improving of Peer Fedback Technique on Students’ Writing Descriptive Text Ability Of Grade VII SMP NEGERI 1 SIDAMANIK. The problem of the research was : How is The Improving of Peer Fedback Technique on Students’ Writing Descriptive Text Ability Of Grade VII SMP NEGERI 1 SIDAMANIK academic year 2019/2020. Some theories were used the explain the research : they were : Arikunto, Suharsimi (2002), Brown, H.D (2001), Ferris, L. (1995), Harmer, J. (2004), Liu, J. and Hansen, J. (2002), Paulus, T. M. (1999), Wadiman, Artono and His friend. (2008). The research design was quantitative method . The population was 341 students and the sample was taken by Arikunto 2006:134 at class VII/a with 34 students. The instrument was essay test. The data analysis started from scoring composition, calculating the validity and reability, finding variants and mean difference, calculating standart deviation difference deviation.Based on the data analysis, it was found that the treatment of peer feedback technique, students’ prior knowledge in writing descriptive text was low since the pre-test data was 1689 and the mean was 49,67 and after the treatment, it had been improved since the post-test data was 2620 and the mean was 77,11. After analyzing the data, it was concluded that the use of peer feedback technique gives significant contribution in improving students’ competence in writing descriptive text at grade VII SMP NEGERI 1 SIDAMANIK in academic year 2019/2020. So, every English teacher should use peer feedback technique in teaching writing descriptive text because it had been proved that it gave significant contribution in improving students’ competence in wrting descriptive text and each teacher should choose appropriate method firstly before teaching

Abstract

Learning a language is influenced by a variety of factors. Learning English is important to children that will help them in achieving their full potential in the future. If they have the right techniques, they can learn English quickly and effectively. Applying a good technique is important that they have to learn English which is by practicing and using the language fluently. Learning must not be stressful for the children. The process should be simulating with a interesting technique by the teacher. So, their studies should make reading, listening, and speaking in English practice naturally. As a confidence to develops, the children can learn more and speak English improve their English. This paper will discusses about the way to teach the young learners in Pematang Siantar. These are purposed for children to be able to learn English effectively with the fun situation and variety program that children need in practicing a language. At the last, this paper discuss about how to guarantee the children learning English by using a simple techniques that can absolutely make the teachers’ responsibility in teaching more fun and satisfying in the result of student, and the teaching process will be expected that the teachers will have an idea to be the most inspiring teachers that possibly can applying in teaching and learning process

Abstract

This study focused in Indonesia Language influences shifting in Simalungun Language. The problem of the study is “How is Simalungun Language shift in Pematangsiantar.” The objective of the study is to determine the factor influences Simalumgun Language shift in Pematangsiantar. The significance of the research are: 1) Theoritically, the study considered to enrich the theory of language planning especially about Simalungun language shift in Pematangsiantar and the reason of Simalungunese shift into Indonesian. 2) Practically, the result of the study is considered to contribute information about language shift in Simalungunese for the researcher. The findings of the research are Language shift (especially Simalungunism) in the second and the third generation is influence by bilingualism, migration, economic factor, value and attitude, The pattern of Language shift is done through the shift of Simalungun Language to Indonesian Language in second and the third generation and The reason of the language shift (Simalungun language) into Indonesian are social success and the status of Indonesian Language.

Abstract

This thesis is about the implementation of Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD) technique in reading comprehension. The aim of the research is to solve the students’ problems in reading comprehension by implement STAD technique. The researcher used Slavin theory of process STAD technique in the classroom such as teaching materials, assigning students to teams, determining base score and team building. In this thesis, the problem of the study justified as “Is Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) technique appropriate to implement in Reading Comprehension at Grade Ten of SMK Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi?” This thesis is descriptive quantitative study design, to describe the implementation of STAD technique in reading comprehension. The subject of this study was at grade ten students of SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi. X Adkl 2 which consist 39 students. The instrument of study ate test and questionnaire. To collect the data, the researcher implement STAD technique in the class through the process. Then giving the test to see the students’ achievement. The last was giving the questionnaire to see the students’ reponse towards the implementation of STAD technique. Based on the research finding, it states that the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) technique was implemented well in teaching learning process from teaching materials, assigning students to teams, determining base score and team building. Then the students’ result of test showed that the mean of students’ score was 76.79. This means that the result passed the minimum criterion of school is 76. The last, from the students’ response towards the STAD technique the STAD technique through questionnaire was 89.69% of students gave good response. From these findings, it states that student teams achievement division (stad) technique was appropriate to implement in reading comprehension at grade ten of SMK Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to identify the significantly effect on the students’ achievement in reading comprehension by Peer Assisted Learning Strategy (PALS). This research is an experimental which was conducted at SMPN 7 Pematangsiatar. Academic year 2022/2023. The population of this research was the second grade which distributed into two classes with total 64 students. Experimental class consisted of 32 students and control class consisted 32 students. The instruments for collecting data in this research was written test in form multiple choice test, consist of 20 questions. Pre-test and post-test were conducted in both, experimental and control group. The data of post-test was analyzed by using SPSS Version 22.00. The result of the research shows that the testing hypothesis of post-test scores was found that that tcount (0.970) >ttable (2.188) at the significance level α =0.05 with the degrees of freedom (df) = 31, and 0,340 for the sig (2-tailed). Ho (Peer Assisted Learning Strategy doesn’t influence to students reading comprehension) is rejected and Ha (Peer Assisted Learning Strategy influence to students in reading comprehension) is accepted. It means that there are the Influence Of Using Peer Assisted Learning Strategies (PALS) Towards Students Achievement In Reading Comprehension in Narrative Text at SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar

Abstract

This research explores the relationship between vocabulary mastery and speaking ability among 10th-grade students at SMA YPK Pematangsiantar during the 2022/2023 academic year. The study aims to address the challenges students face in language learning by investigating the impact of vocabulary on speaking skills. The research employs qualitative methodology, utilizing interviews and questionnaires for data collection. The findings reveal that while vocabulary is recognized as essential for communication, many students struggle with mastering it due to complexities, pronunciation difficulties, and concerns about making mistakes. The study concludes that vocabulary plays a crucial role in language acquisition, influencing students' self-confidence and proficiency in speaking English. The research emphasizes the significance of vocabulary in effective communication and highlights the need for improved teaching strategies to enhance students' vocabulary mastery and speaking abilities

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the difficulties faced by the students on reading comprehension in explanation SMA YPK Pematangsiantar academic year 2022/2023. This research qualitative research based on descriptive data by qualitative research based on descriptive data. Based on the data in the previous chapter has showed that students have some difficulties in comprehend the explanation text or even cannot understand what the explanation text is. Difficulty is something that is complicated to understand or to do. It can be seen from students’ mistakes or error in reading or even comprehend a text. In fact, usually so many senior high school students experience difficulties in reading comprehension. These difficulties result in the students’ bad performance in the reading English explanation text. Meanwhile, reading comprehension also become important part in reading an English text. of course the students at school needed to have this skill
