Abstract

This study aims to investigate the T-test, F-test, and correlation test of radiation and duration of sunlight exposure on the growth and production of sorghum plants. The research was conducted at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Climate Station in Indrapuri, Aceh Besar, from March to June 2023.The study employed Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, T-test, F-test, Correlation Coefficient, and Determination Coefficient. The results indicate that radiation and duration of sunlight exposure significantly affect plant height, number of leaves, and sorghum production. Regression analysis also shows that radiation and duration of sunlight exposure have a significant impact on all parameters studied. The T-test reveals that radiation does not have a partial effect on plant height and the number of leaves, but it does have a partial effect on weight and wet weight. On the other hand, the duration of sunlight exposure has a partial effect on plant height and the number of leaves, but it does not have a partial effect on the wet weight of samples and the wet weight. The simultaneous F-test analysis shows that radiation and duration of sunlight exposure have a simultaneous effect on plant height. Correlation analysis shows that plant height, number of leaves, wet weight per sample, and wet weight per plot are related.

Abstract

The existence of a silvofishery system is expected to enhance the productivity of local communities in shrimp farming, specifically for the tiger shrimp. Efforts that need to be made in the development of tiger shrimp farming with a silvofishery system must be well-evaluated for land suitability. Land suitability analysis for pond cultivation needs to be conducted as a basis for decision-making regarding land use that is compatible with its suitability. This research was conducted in the community ponds in Lubuk Damar and Sungai Kuruk III villages, Seruway District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province. The study was carried out over four months, from August to November 2023. This research used a survey method with descriptive techniques based on field observations and laboratory analysis. The approach used in this survey research is an evaluative approach. The method employed in this study is a matching method. Based on the results of the land suitability evaluation at the research locations, it was found that there was an S3 (Marginally Suitable) land suitability class at three sample points, while an N1 (Currently Unsuitable) land suitability class was found at the fourth sample point. The limiting factors identified in this study include climate (precipitation), mangrove density, clay content, and ammonia levels. Improvement efforts to achieve an S1 land suitability class for mangrove density include reforestation or replanting mangroves to maintain the mangrove ecosystem. Additionally, efforts to improve clay content to reach an S1 land suitability class, which is currently too high, can be done by applying lime. High ammonia levels can also be addressed to achieve an S1 land suitability class by controlling water quality and creating water circulation. However, the climatic limiting factors present at the research locations cannot be improved, as they are natural factors.

Abstract

This study examine the efforts of the Bintan Regency government to relocate the Sea Nomad or Orang Suku Laut (OSL) community through the Marine Spatial Plan policy, focusing on the positive and negative impacts of this relocation on their rights and cultural identity. Employing a qualitative approach, the research investigates the implementation and impacts of the Marine Spatial Plan using data collected through in-depth interviews, observations and documentations. Findings reveal that the government strategies often rely on persuasive approaches, leveraging the proximity of the OSL’s traditional marine territory to Panglong village. By 2011, resettlement initiatives encompassed 60 families, accompanied by disciplinary administrative measures like record-keeping of ID registration and residence requirement of 5-10 years in Panglong village for housing eligibility. These measures, however, have significantly erroded the cultural identity of the OSL, distancing young generation from their maritime attachment. While the government policy seeks to assimilate the OSL to Malay communities, it poses a threat to the preservation of their authentic marine culture and contradict their right to self-determination as an indigenous people. The study underscores the importance of involving the OSL in Marine Spatial Planning, highlighting their traditional knowledge as a critical resource for achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

Abstract

The oil palm land donated to Universitas Samudra is planned for the development of the campus area, including the construction of a number of buildings and supporting facilities. However, the process of identifying and mapping oil palm plants has been done manually, which is time-consuming, inefficient, and prone to errors. This problem underscores the need for faster and more accurate methods to support spatial data-based planning. This study aimed to calculate the number of oil palm plants in 2022 and 2023 at the University of Samudra using the template matching method with eCognition Developer software, as well as evaluate the accuracy of automatic detection results based on aerial images obtained using drones. The research was carried out using survey methods and descriptive analysis, involving primary data in the form of aerial imagery and field validation, as well as secondary data from the map of the oil palm plantation area of Samudra University. The results of the study show that the number of oil palm plants in 2022 based on automatic calculations was 2,060 trees, while the results of manual validation showed the actual number of 2,169 trees with a difference of 109 trees. In 2023, the automatic calculation detected 1,932 trees, while the actual number was 2,030 trees, with a difference of 98 trees. The accuracy level of automatic calculations in 2022 had an average accuracy of 98.56%, recall of 94.05%, and F1-score of 95.63%, higher than in 2023 with precision of 97.41%, recall of 92.73%, and F1-score of 94.98%. Then the template matching method is effectively used for oil palm tree detection and can support the planning of campus area development efficiently. The use of this technology is expected to be a model that can be implemented in various other educational institutions.

Abstract

The study of feminism is currently dominated by women, even though gender-fair relations will not be realized without awareness from the male side. One of the Indonesian male intellectuals who has a high response to women is Abdurrahman Wahid. Unfortunately, the study of Abdurrahman Wahid still revolves around three studies, namely, as a great thinker in Pluralism, liberalism, and pribumisasi, or privatization of Islam; as a political actor and as an educational thinker. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is first to find the pattern of Abdurrahman Wahid’s thinking about women, second, to look for influencing factors; and third, to look for the relevance of his thoughts. This study is a literature study, which is a study that relies on the main source of Abdurrahman Wahid's works or writings on women. The works or comments of intellectuals who discuss Abdurrahman Wahid's thoughts on women are complementary sources of this paper. Various thoughts of Abdurrahman Wahid will be researched and reduced based on the themes discussed about women. These themes are then analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The study found three things. First, Abdurrahman Wahid’s style of thinking about women is transcendental humanism. This pattern is a discontinuity from the previous thought, where the perspectives of Mu’tazilah, Marxian, and Sufism also give color to his thoughts. Second, the factors that affect the pattern are family, education, life experience, and madhhab thought. These factors are the structure of cultural and ideological understanding. Third, the religious and patriarchal Indonesian people make Abdurrahman Wahid’s thoughts relevant. Abdurrahman Wahid’s modality and habitus (pattern of thinking) allow his thinking to be received and developed by the community. However, this paper has not outlined the continuity and change of Abdurrahman Wahid’s thinking and does not see her intellectual position compared to other female thinkers.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to implement the Integrity Zone (ZI) initiative towards establishing a Corruption-Free Zone (WBK) within the Agribusiness Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture at Samudra University. The primary issue addressed is the absence of ZI implementation, which poses a risk to transparency, accountability, and the quality of governance within the program. The methods employed include preliminary discussions, focus group discussions (FGDs), the provision of complaint boxes and online reporting platforms, seminars/workshops, the installation of informational banners (x-banners), and activity evaluations. The outcomes of the activity indicate a 26% increase in participants’ understanding of integrity values, the establishment of a complaint mechanism, and the formulation of a draft joint commitment to ZI. This initiative has had a positive impact on fostering a culture of integrity and enhancing the quality of public service. The success of the program demonstrates that collaborative and educational approaches are effective in promoting governance reform within higher education institutions.

Abstract

Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth) is one type of industrial plant that has the potential to be developed as one of the superior regional commodities in Aceh Tamiang district, which has so far only focused on oil palm and rubber plants. The study aimed to determine the suitability of patchouli land in Pantai Tinjau Village, Sekerak District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. The study used a survey method with descriptive analysis based on field observations and laboratory analysis with sample determination by "purposive sampling." The data used were primary and secondary data and results of field observations. The parameters observed were the physical and morphological properties of the land where, among others, soil type, adequate depth, field texture, soil structure, surface drainage, flooding/puddles, rocks on the surface, rock outcrops, slope degree, management level, altitude. The observed soil chemical properties parameters were pH, C-Organic, N-Total, P-Total, K-Total, P-Available, Exchangeable cations-anions, CEC, base saturation, and salinity. Soil sampling in the land unit area based on soil maps by drilling. The selected points represent each Pahan Map Unit (SPL) consisting of 3 SPLs, and 3 soil samples were taken at each SPL. The evaluation results showed that the growth of patchouli plants in Pantai Tinjau Village was hampered by several main limiting factors, namely rooting media, nutrient retention and availability, and the level of erosion hazard. Although some land can be improved in suitability class through improvement, several obstacles such as soil texture and slope remain difficult to overcome.
