Abstract

Xylo-oligosaccharide derived from corncob hemicellulose has been reported to possess antioxidant activity. In order to assess the effective scavenging of xylo-oligosaccharide, we conducted in vitro studies based on self-made xylo-oligosaccharide with DPPH (2,2diphenyl-1-picrilhydrazil) method. Xylo-oligosaccharide was prepared with enzymatic hydrolysis. The enzyme used for hemicellulose hydrolysis was endo-β-xylanase enzyme from PC-01 isolated bactrerium. PC-01 isolated bacterium used in this study was Pacet hot spring which was isolated from East Java. Endo-β-xylanase enzyme is an extracelluler enzyme. There was about 0.199 U/mL after purification and dialysis process. Hydrolisis product of hemicellulose A and B from corncob were analyzed with TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography) and HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography). This analysis showed that hydrolysis product of hemicellulose B had a lot of xylo-oligosaccharide hydrolysis product of hemicellulose than Xylo-oligosaccharide hydrolysis product of hemicelluloses A. Xylo-olygosaccharide was analyzed as on antioxidant activity. Xylo-oligosaccharide hydrolysis product ofhemicellulose B (IC = 48.96) has higher antioxidant activity than Xylo-oligosaccharide hydrolysis product of hemicellulose A (IC 50 50 = 92.302). The toxicity of xylo-oligosaccharide can be calculated by the value of LC 50 (Lethality concentration). LC of xylooligosaccharide derived from corncob hemicellulose was 400 ppm so that xylo-oligosaccharide has anti tumor activity because xylooligosaccharide has LC 50 < 1000 ppm.

Abstract

Background: Proving that the wild polio virus no longer exists in Indonesia, the symptoms must be found thatresemble polio. These symptoms are found in patients with AFP (Acute Flaccid Paralysis). AFP surveillanceis an observation made of all cases of acute paralysis or AFP in children aged <15 years who are vulnerableto polio. The priority problem that is still found in the East Java Provincial Health Office regarding AFPsurveillance is the reduction in the discovery of non-polio AFP cases and adequate specimens.Aims: The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of AFP surveillance activities in the EastJava Province Health Office in 2019.Methods: Data collection was carried out by primary and secondary to study the AFP surveillance overview.Primary data were obtained from in depth interviews with AFP surveillance program holders in East JavaProvincial Health Office. Secondary data is processed using Microsoft Office Excel, Epi Info and QuantumGIS.Results: The result is in 2019 the rate of non-polio AFP and the percentage of adequate specimens in EastJava Province has under the target. In 2019 there was a decrease compared to the previous year, the nonpolio AFP rate was 1.64 and the percentage of adequate specimens was 56.2%. Only as many as six districts/ cities in East Java Province had pass these two indicators. Conclusion: The lack of visits and reports from both the hospital and the community is one of causativefactor. Intensive and routine AFP surveillance is needed to monitor the emergence of polio cases

Abstract

The SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 continues to mutate, with some forming new, relatively more dangerous variants. Surabaya Raya including Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Gresik is the most affected areas by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in East Java Province. One of the reasons for the increase in COVID-19 cases is due to inappropriate COVID-19 prevention behavior. Knowledge and attitudes are important factors that can influence a person's behavior. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes toward COVID-19 prevention behavior in high school students. This type of research used analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. The subjects in this study were 176 students from SMA 4 Muhammadiyah Surabaya, SMA Negeri 1 Sidoarjo, and MA Mamba'ul Hisan Gresik who had filled in the questionnaire. The dependent variable in this study is COVID-19 prevention behavior. The independent variables in this study included gender, history of being infected with COVID-19, knowledge, and attitudes. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The variables studied that are related to COVID-19 prevention behavior in high school students are knowledge (p = 0.027; PR = 0.48) and attitudes (p = 0.000; PR = 6.83). The variables studied that did not have a relationship were gender (p = 0.537) and a history of being infected with COVID-19 (p = 0.974). Knowledge and attitudes are significantly related to COVID-19 prevention behavior, but not to gender and history of COVID-19 disease. Community service is one of the important efforts in improving the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of high school students. Keywords: COVID-19, Knowledge, Attitude, Behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is still a major health problem in Indonesia. Sampang Regency was one of the districts that experienced an increase in the prevalence of stunting. According to the 2018 Riskesdas data, one in three babies under two years old (baduta) and babies under five years old (toddlers) in Indonesia are in the stunting category. The intervention was needed to increase the number of immunization to prevent stunting. This activity aimed to identify the barrier to increasing Universal Coverage Immunization (UCI) to solve the immunization problem using the Human Centered-Design (HCD) method. Methods: The method used is a qualitative method using HCD with in-depth interviews, which is a method used to explore problems from the community side. This activity was involved by the head of the epidemiology and immunization section, the program holders of the Sampang district health office, coordinating midwives and immunization coordinators at selected health centers regarding immunization program interventions, namely exploring immunization problems from the community. The number of informants were six people in every public health center. The HCD intervention method has several steps: Persona, Journey of Map, Quote, Findings and Suggestions. The data analysis technique used a description of every HCD step. Results: The results from the intervention were that every public health center is known to have a different picture related to portraits of community members who are influential in implementing the immunization program. Conclusions: This program showed that health was not only the responsibility of the government or the health program holders but everyone. The recommendations from the HCD training at the two public health centers agreed to re-advocate the immunization program to relevant stakeholders.
