Abstract

Sei Pulai Reservoir is one of the sources of raw water for the people of Bintan Island, Riau Islands, to be precise in Tanjungpinang and its surroundings. Sei Pulai Reservoir is also a habitat for belida fish (Notopterus notopterus). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between length and weight of belida fish (N. notopterus) in Sei Pulai Reservoir, Bintan Regency. Sampling was carried out once a week from April to May 2021 based on fishermen's catch areas and fish habitats. The relationship between length and weight of male fish is W = 0,00000006L3,4839 which indicates a positive allometric growth pattern and for female fish is W = 0,000002L2,761which indicates a negative allometric growth pattern.

Abstract

Sei Gesek Reservoir is one of the reservoirs in Bintan Regency. This reservoir was dammed in 2011 which is intended to meet the water needs of Tanjungpinang City. One of the types of fish found in Sei Gesek Reservoir is belida fish (Notopterus notopterus). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between length and weight of bronze featherback (N. notopterus) in Sei Gesek Reservoir, Bintan Regency. Sampling was carried out from April to June 2021 based on fishermen's catch areas and fish habitats. The relationship between length and weight of male fish W = 0.0000005L3.5115 and female W = 0.000001L2.9067. The b value obtained for male fish shows positive allometric and female fish shows negative allometric.

Abstract

Pangkil is a small island in Indonesia with huge fisheries production where the majority of citizens' livelihoods are fisherman. The decline of fisheries catch production has led to aquaculture activity increasing year by year. Environmental conditions are the most important consideration for marine aquaculture sites. The aims of the present study are to estimation of the carrying capacity in Pangkil island water for marine aquaculture. The study was carried out in January 2020 at 30 locations. To describe the environmental condition, 30 samples were collected to analyse the physical, chemical, and biological parameters. To estimate the carrying capacity, suitability index was applied. The result showed that 57.13% of environmental conditions have very suitable for marine aquaculture (sea cage) in Pangkil Island, while 42.87% is only quite appropriate. Based on the result, Pangkil Island water has high potential for marine aquaculture in the future.

Abstract

Siput gonggong telah dikenal sebagai ikon Kepulauan Riau. Sampai saat ini, permintaan pasar akan siput gonggong terus berlanjut. Hal ini dibuktikan masih tersedianya stok siput gonggong baik yang masih bercangkang maupun dagingnya saja di pasar, rumah makan dan di pinggir-pinggir jalan. Peminat kuliner siput gonggong tidak hanya masyarakat setempat tetapi juga para pendatang/wisatawan dari luar. Dengan permintaan pasar yang semakin hari terus berlanjut, membuat nelayan penangkap siput gonggong hampir setiap hari menangkap untuk memenuhi permintaan pasar tersebut. Sehingga keberlanjutan populasi di alam diduga mengalami kondisi kritis yaitu penangkapan berlebihan (over fishing). Saat ini, munculnya fenomena ukuran gonggong yang tertangkap semakin kecil jika dibandingkan beberapa tahun yang lalu. Hal ini lah yang melatarbelakangi betapa pentingnya pengetahuan identifikasi jenis kelamin siput gonggong yang harus diberikan kepada masyarakat agar stok di alam dapat kembali pulih. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah agar kelompok masyarakat dapat melakukan pengidentifikasian secara langsung di alam sehingga masyarakat pada akhirnya bisa lebih selektif dalam melakukan penangkapan siput gonggong jantan dan siput gonggong betina agar ketersediaan stok siput gonggong dapat berkelanjutan. Upaya untuk mencapai keberhasilan dalam usaha mempertahankan keberadaan siput gonggong secara kontinyu maka tingkat pengetahuan kelompok masyarakat harus ditingkatkan dengan melakukan pendekatan sosial, pendampingan dan pelatihan serta keterampilan. Dengan pemberian informasi yang jelas tentang langkah-langkah dan tahap dalam identifikasi jenis kelamin siput gonggong secara morfologi.

Abstract

Ekosistem terumbu karang merupakan ekosistem yang rentan terhadap kerusakan. Berbagai aktivitas manusia yang tidak ramah lingkungan dan perubahan iklim global telah menyebabkan kondisi ekosistem terumbu karang mengalami kerusakan, sehingga kondisi tutupan karang hidup yang baik semakin menurun, sementara yang mengalami kerusakan semakin meningkat. Untuk menjaga kondisi dan kelestarian ekosistem terumbu karang di Perairan Desa Sebong Lagoi agar tidak menurun, maka diperlukan suatu upaya konservasi terumbu karang. Salah satu upaya konservasi yang dapat dilakukan yaitu kegiatan transplantasi karang. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) ini adalah diharapkan kelompok masyarakat Kampung Baru, Desa Sebong Lagoi mampu melakukan kegiatan transplantasi karang, mulai dari tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, hingga perawatan. Kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu memberikan pengenalan dan pelatihan kegiatan tranplantasi karang kepada kelompok masyarakat Kampung Baru, Desa Sebong Lagoi mulai dari kegiatan persiapan dalam memilih lokasi dan peralatan yang dibutuhkan, pelaksanaan kegiatan transplantasi yaitu pemilihan induk dan metode transplantasi karang, serta pendampingan sehingga mampu mengaplikasikan kegiatan transplantasi dan perawatan transplantasi karang. Kegiatan ini mendapat respon positif dan antusias dari Kelompok Masyarakat Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) dan masyarakat Kampung Baru Desa Sebong Lagoi terkait kegiatan pengabdian tersebut, serta kegiatan pengabdian dapat dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan secara tatap muka dengan masyarakat, namun dengan memperhatikan protokol Covid-19.

Abstract

Kegiatan pemulihan ekosistem terumbu karang di Kabupaten Bintan merupakan kegiatan pemulihan ekosistem terumbu karang berbasis masyarakat yang dilakukan dalam upaya perlindungan ekosistem terumbu karang, serta pemulihan kerusakan lingkungan pesisir dan laut melalui pemulihan kerusakan ekosistem terumbu karang berbasis masyarakat di Perairan Desa Pengudang, Kabupaten Bintan. Kegiatan sosialisasi pemulihan ekosistem terumbu karang di Perairan Desa Pengudang, Kabupaten Bintan melibatkan masyarakat Desa Pengudang, Pokdarwis Pengudang Bintan Mangrove, Yayasan Ecology, Dinas Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Prov. Kepulauan Riau, Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Bintan, Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Prov. Kepulauan Riau dan Dinas Perikanan Kabupaten Bintan.

Abstract

Goniopora stokesi coral is one of the massive corals on Laelae Island and Barranglompo Island. Massive coral growth in the formation of coral skeleton sedimentation rate (CaCO3) is highly dependent on the environment. The research objective was to analyze the differences in the growth rates of G. stokesi, as well as the relationship between environmental factors and the growth rates of G. stokesi corals in Laelae Island and Barranglompo Island. This study uses secondary data on coral growth of G. stokesi and data on environmental conditions from 2009 to 2013, in the waters of Laelae Island and Barranglompo Island. Differences in coral growth rates were analyzed using One Way ANOVA analysis, if there were significant differences followed by a significant difference test according to the Bonferroni method, with SPSS 19.00 software. Analysis of the relationship between environmental factors and coral growth using the Principle Component Analysis (PCA) test with Microsoft Excel 2003 software. The results showed that the environmental conditions in the waters of Laelae Island and Barranglompo Island showed a range of values that were not too different, only the traffic, current, and turbidity values were different between the two islands. The coral growth rate of G. stokesi on Laelae Island was 9.72 ± 1.16 mm year-1, while on Barranglompo Island it was 12.47 ± 2.67 mm year-1. The coral growth of G. stokesi on Laelae Island was affected by high currents and turbidity, while on Barranglompo Island it was influenced by high salinity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the percentage of cover conditions, diversity index, uniformited index and dominance index of life form coralin the zones reef flate and reef slope in Kampung Baru Lagoi, Bintan Regency. This research was conducted using the method Line Intersept Transect (LIT) with the line transect length used was 30 meters, three replications with a gap of 5 meters. The results showed, at point station 1 in the zone flate Reef the percentage of live coral cover was 36,92% are categorized as moderate. Forms the coral growth Life form were found as many 9 types of Life form hard corals namely ACB, ACT, ACE, ACS, ACD, CB, CM, CE, CS with a diversity index of 2,53 are categorized as moderate, a uniformited index of 0,80 are categorized as high, and a dominance index of 0,22 are categorized as low. At the point station 2 in the zone slope Reef the percentage of live coral cover was 50,44% are categorized as good. Forms of coral growth (Life form) were found as many as 8 types of Life form hard corals namely ACT, ACE, CB, CM, CE, CS, CF and CMR, with a diversity index of 2,13 are categorized as moderate, a uniformited index of 0,71 are categorized as high, and a dominance index of 0,30 are categorized as low.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pertumbuhan, tingkat kelangsungan hidup dan mengetahui pengaruh frekuensi waktu pembersihan terhadap keberhasilan transplantasi karang keras (Acropora millepora) di Perairan Malang Rapat, Bintan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode transplantasi menggunakan modul terbuat dari semen berbentuk balok. Transplantasi karang dilakukan dengan empat perlakuan, perlakuan A (fragmen dibersihkan setiap 1 minggu), perlakuan B (fragmen dibersihkan setiap 2 minggu), perlakuan C (fragmen dibersihkan setiap 3 minggu) dan perlakuan D (tidak ada pembersihan fragmen) dengan 5 kali pengulangan setiap perlakuan. Pengamatan dilakukan setiap minggu selama 12 minggu penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pertumbuhan mutlak pada perlakuan A sebesar 14,94 ± 4,98 mm, perlakuan B sebesar 18,16 ± 5,93 mm, perlakuan C sebesar 12,30 ± 3,78 mm dan perlakuan D sebesar 12,22 ± 4,34 mm. Laju pertumbuhan fragmen karang pada perlakuan A sebesar 1,24 ± 0,41 mm/minggu, perlakuan B sebesar 1,51 ± 0,49 mm/minggu, perlakuan C sebesar 1,02 ± 0,31 mm/minggu, dan laju perlakuan D sebesar 1,01 ± 0,36 mm/minggu. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup fragmen karang Acropora millepora pada perlakuan A dan B sebesar 100% (tidak mengalami kematian), sedangkan perlakuan C dan D sebesar 83,08% (mengalami kematian). Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang nyata antara pertumbuhan karang Acropora millepora berdasarkan perbedaan waktu pembersihan. Perlakuan B (pembersihan fragmen setiap 2 minggu sekali) merupakan perlakuan dengan pertumbuhan optimum.
