Abstract

This study aims to identify the internal environmental conditions (strengths-weaknesses) and external (opportunities-threats) of the clover batik craftsmen as the basis for formulating a strategy to increase competitiveness. The study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques focus group discussions (FGD), semi-structured interviews, observation and document collection. Informants were determined using a purposive method. The data analysis uses interactive models and SWOT analysis. The results showed several strengths that can encourage the floating of clover batik, namely the ability to make a capable batik, iconic distinctive motifs and organic batik technology. The opportunities that arise, namely export opportunities, support of the city government, support of other elements of society, and online marketing opportunities. While weaknesses include the number of craftsmen, low online marketing capabilities, motives not yet registered as intellectual property rights, limited production, and marketing volumes, traditional tools, and low capital. The threat that arises namely, the emergence of other motifs as a competitor batik, and batik printing production that offers cheaper prices with a larger production scale. The map of strengths and weaknesses and threats above are very useful as a material for formulating strategies in empowering clover batik craftsmen.

Abstract

Garbage is useless material left over from the activities of living things. Waste is divided into two, namely organic waste and inorganic waste. Inorganic waste such as paper, iron, glass, cables, light bulbs, and plastic are waste that takes a long time to decompose. One of the solutions that can be done to reduce the amount of inorganic waste in urban areas is recycling. This plastic bottle can be used as a place to grow crops. The advantage of using plastic bottles for farming activities is that it saves space and is environmentally friendly. This can support reforestation programs in urban areas where there is little space to be used as green open spaces. The training is carried out in two stages, namely: Preparation: Meeting with partners; Pre-survey location. At this stage, it is explained how the process of implementing vertical cultivation of ornamental plants by using used bottles is explained. Implementation: Making plant pots from used plants; decorate pots that have been made with paint so that they look more attractive; transfer the available seeds to the media in pots; install pots that have been made in the locations that have been surveyed. The result of the training in verticultural ornamental plant cultivation is that it can attract people to create or use verticulture techniques to grow crops at home which can be an alternative to ornamental plant culture in limited or narrow land. Keywords: plastic bottles, ornamental plants, verticulture, urban

Abstract

Forest is an ecosystem unit in the form of a stretch of land containing biological resources which are dominated by trees in communion with their environment, which cannot be separated from one another. Forests have many benefits for human life. These benefits can be seen in terms of ecology, hydraulics, economy, and health such as regulating forest climate, as the lungs of the world, preventing global warming, storing groundwater, and regulating water systems. In this case, socialization is carried out to elementary school students so that they can cultivate a caring attitude towards the forest from an early age. The socialization was held at SDN Pakal 1 Surabaya. The method used is the delivery of material through power points, the activities carried out include the delivery of material on the meaning of forests, how to conserve forests, and the consequences of not conserving forests. Socialization was also carried out in the form of audio- visual by showing short video clips about the importance of forests as the lungs of the world. This Community Service activity can be said to be successful because of the very good response and high enthusiasm from the students of SDN Pakal 1 Surabaya. Realizing the importance of this activity and the impact it can have in the future, it is hoped that this socialization activity can be continued to preserve forest sustainability starting at an early age.

Abstract

Farming with verticulture hydroponics is a trend in urban areas. Verticulture hydroponics can overcome land limitations, is easy to implement, and can take advantage of used goods. Kampung Kapas Lor Kulon Surabaya is a densely populated village and buildings, minimally greened, and seems shabby. The purpose of community service carried out is to improve the knowledge and skills of verticulture hydroponic farming in Dasa Wisma RT 04 Kapas Lor Kulon Surabaya. The methods used are observation, analysis of potentials and problems, implementation through counseling and training, and evaluation. Evaluation is carried out through questionnaires before and after training, as well as monitoring in the field. The hydroponic system used is an axis system, and a DFT (Deep Flow Technique) system. The results of the evaluation showed that there was an increase in knowledge and skills in the trainees. Knowledge of the notion of verticulture hydroponics increased quite sharply from 21.25% to 95%. Hydroponic farming skills have also improved, ranging from seed seeding, and plant removal, to plant care. The mothers' awareness of using second-hand goods to grow crops is also very good.

Abstract

Minapolitan program aims to increase the productivity and quality of fishery and marine products. Through the Minapolitan program, it is hoped that there will be centers of economic growth based on marine and fishery potential. The Minapolitan program is held in several regions in Indonesia, one of which is in Kalanganyar Village, Sedati District, Sidoarjo Regency. This study aims to describe inter-organizational communication in implementing the Minapolitan program in Kalanganyar Village. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, document collection, and focus group discussions. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model. The results showed that inter-organizational communication that occurred in the implementation of the Minapolitan program consisted of 3 models, namely vertical upwards (implementing organizations to the upper structure), horizontal (inter-organizations implementing at the same level), and vertical downwards (implementing organizations to the lower structure). Vertical up and horizontal communication has been done well. On the other hand, vertical downward communication, especially in infrastructure development projects, has not been carried out correctly. This means that implementing organizations have not established good communication with local government organizations (villages) and community organizations related to the implementation of the Minapolitan program. As a result, the effectiveness of the Minapolitan program has the potential to be suboptimal. Suggestions, because the quality of communication is one of the keys to the success of program implementation, vertically downward communication should be considered
