Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease whose prevalence continues to increase. Diabetes mellitus sufferers are advised to do lifestyle interventions in the form of physical activity. Physical activity provides benefits for diabetics, through the autocrine response of muscles to release IL-6 for muscle repair. The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate intensity of physical activity against muscle IL-6 in diabetic mice. The subjects in this study were male mice (balb / c) weighing 20-30 grams. This study was divided into 4 groups. The treatment in the form of treadmill activity is carried out once with heating for 5 minutes and core for 30 minutes. This study used a True Experimental research design using a Random Control Group Posttest-Only Design research design. The variable measured in this study was muscle IL-6, namely the calf muscle (gastrocnemious and soleus muscles) of the left and right legs of each subject 24 hours after acute physical activity. Acute physical activity causes the release of interleukin-6 by myofibers. Based on the analysis results showed that there was a significant effect of low, medium, and high intensity acute physical activity on muscle IL-6 levels (p = 0.05). In addition, it also showed that the highest average muscle IL-6 level was the high intensity treatment group with a value of 325.17267 mg / dL. These results prove that high-intensity acute physical activity improves IL-6 levels in the muscle muscle model of diabetes mellitus mice.

Abstract

The open smash is one of the most lethal attacking techniques in volleyball, executed with full force, sending the ball high and far into the air. Accuracy and good ball placement make it difficult for the opponent to return and give the team an advantage in organizing subsequent attacks. The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of each of these physical components. The target group was 15 female volleyball extracurricular students at SMAN 1 Pademawu. While the data collection process is carried out by conducting tests on arm muscle strength (push-ups), abdominal muscles (sit-ups), wrist flexibility (goniometer), hand-eye coordination (grade mirror drawing), and leg muscle power (Jump Md) and open smash accuracy. Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide education about the basics of volleyball to high school students at SDK Maria Fatima, Bangkalan, Madura. Volleyball is one of the sports that is able to develop children's physical, motor, social, and cognitive aspects holistically. However, in the field, various obstacles are still found, such as the lack of understanding of teachers in delivering material effectively, low interest in volleyball sports, and limited basic skills that students have. To answer these problems, this activity is designed through lectures, demonstrations, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice methods with a fun approach and adapted to the characteristics of children's development. The implementation of the activity was carried out for one month and involved 20 upper-class students and teachers at SDK Maria Fatima. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of basic concepts and techniques of the game of volleyball, an improvement in motor skills in performing basic movements such as passing, serving, and smash, as well as a growth in students' interest and active participation in physical learning activities. In addition, this activity also has a positive impact on teachers in terms of implementing more varied and effective sports learning methods. Thus, this program makes a real contribution to improving the quality of physical education at the elementary school level, especially in volleyball.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the effects of a single bout of endurance exercise on decreased oxidative stress in young adults with overweight. This study used the true experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. Twenty overweight women between the ages of 20 and 23 were recruited from college students and randomly divided into CON (n = 10, control group without exercise) and EEx (n = 10, endurance exercise group). The endurance exercise intervention is carried out once by running on a treadmill with an intensity of 60-70% HRmax for 40 minutes/exercise sessions. Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels as a biomarker of oxidative stress were measured 30 minutes pre-exercise and 24 hours post-exercise using the Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substance (TBARs) method. The results showed that MDA levels significantly decreased in the endurance training group compared to the control group. Results of analysis of MDA levels between pre-exercise and post-exercise in CON (819.00±66.47 vs. 853.00±113.55 ng/mL; (P > 0.05), EEx (810.00±120.19 vs. 596.00±67.57 ng/mL; (P < 0.05). Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that a single session of endurance exercise at an intensity of 60-70% HRmax for 40 minutes reduces oxidative stress in overweight adolescent females.

Abstract

Obesity among college students poses a significant health concern, as excess weight heightens the risk of various diseases. The study aims to determine the effects of a 12-week resistance band weight training program on weight loss in obese college students. This research employs an experimental method, specifically using a "One Group Pre-Post Test Design." This involves administering a pre-test before the intervention and a post-test after the intervention. The participants in this study are adolescent athletes from the State University of Jakarta. The sample consists of 30 individuals selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria: students from the State University of Jakarta, aged 16-23 years, both male and female. Data collection involves the experimental group and control group, the participant's BMI before and after the 12-week resistance band training program. BMI measurements were conducted using the OMRON brand BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) method. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 21, which includes the normality prerequisite test and is continued with the independent Sample T-Test. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test showed that the Sig value was 0.000 < 0.05. A 12-week resistance band weight training program has a significant effect on weight loss in obese college students. Therefore, the resistance band strength training model significantly influences weight loss more than traditional training methods. This suggests that resistance band training is highly effective for weight loss in adolescents aged 16-23 years and can be incorporated into physical exercise programs for this age group.
