Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the modern retailer Trenmu Mart in increasing the economic independence of the Muhammadiyah Kudus Islamic Boarding School. As Islamic educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools often face financial dependence on fluctuating Educational Development Contributions (SPP) and external aid, which impacts employee welfare and the implementation of student development programs. Efforts to create independent funding sources through business units were previously undertaken with the establishment of Mu Mart in 2016, but were unable to survive due to a lack of professional management and an unstrategic location. This experience led to the establishment of Trenmu Mart in 2025 as a new strategy to build the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions, and its validity was tested using source and method triangulation. The research results show that Trenmu Mart has a positive impact on the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools. Sales have increased significantly every week since the start of operations, with profits used to improve employee welfare through incentives and allowances, and to support various student activities, such as providing learning resources, skills training, and religious programs. Furthermore, Trenmu Mart serves as a learning medium for entrepreneurship for students involved in store operations, providing real-world experience in Sharia-based business management practices. Trenmu Mart's presence also strengthens the relationship between Islamic boarding schools and the surrounding community, which also benefits economically through easy and affordable shopping access. The research conclusion confirms that Trenmu Mart serves not only as a commercial entity but also as a social, educational, and da'wah instrument. Its management concept aligns with the principles of social entrepreneurship in Islamic economics and reflects the application of the maqashid sharia principles in economic activities. With professional management and support from all elements of the Islamic boarding school, Trenmu Mart has long-term prospects as a model of Islamic boarding school economic independence that can be replicated in other Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia

Abstract

Technological developments in the Society 5.0 era have driven massive digital transformation in various sectors, including in the financial system and law enforcement. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data have a strategic role in detecting illegal financial activities, violations of sharia principles in transactions, and increasingly complex cybercrime. This article discusses how AI and Big Data are used as real-time detection and prevention tools for transaction anomalies, money laundering patterns, and online fraud practices. In addition, this study highlights the regulatory and ethical challenges in the application of this technology, especially in ensuring compliance with sharia principles and personal data protection. With a normative qualitative method and a multidisciplinary approach, this paper offers a legal and technological perspective in responding to the dynamics of digital crime and the importance of collaboration between regulators, financial institutions, and technology providers to create a safe and equitable digital ecosystem. The findings in this article are expected to be strategic input in formulating legal policies and strengthening technology-based supervision systems in the digital era.

Abstract

The global climate crisis necessitates a transformation of the financial sector toward environmentally sustainable practices. However, in Indonesia, the development of sharia-based green finance faces significant challenges, including unspecific regulations, low ESG literacy, and limited incentives for investors and market participants. This study discusses the potential and integration strategy of Green Sukuk and Green Banking as Islamic financial instruments that support sustainable financing. Green Sukuk acts as a source of financing for green projects in accordance with maqasid sharia principles, while Islamic banks implement Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles through green financing products and environmental literacy programs. This study highlights the importance of collaboration between regulators (OJK, DSN-MUI, KNEKS), Islamic banks, and capital markets to establish a regulatory framework that supports the development of Islamic green finance, including an Islamic green taxonomy and sharia-based ESG scoring. Despite obstacles such as unspecific regulations, low ESG literacy, and lack of fiscal incentives, the Sharia Green Investment Consortium collaboration model is proposed as an innovative solution to strengthen the Islamic green finance ecosystem. This research underscores the importance of policy synergy, human resource capacity building, and transparency in fund management to achieve sustainable development goals and increase the attractiveness of sharia-based green investments.
