Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technologies has transformed the way Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) conduct business activities, particularly through the adoption of social commerce and AI-assisted digital tools. This study aims to explore AI-assisted social commerce practices among SMEs in Kudus, Indonesia. A qualitative exploratory approach was employed involving eight SME owners from various sectors, including fashion, culinary, skincare, garment production, and hijab retail. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that TikTok has emerged as the dominant social commerce platform, with five out of eight participants utilizing it as their primary channel for promotion and customer engagement. In addition to TikTok, participants also used Shopee, Instagram, WhatsApp, ShopeeFood, GoFood, and GrabFood to support their business activities. The study further identified the use of several AI-assisted features, including chatbots, automatic caption generation, Canva-based content creation, and AI-generated promotional ideas. Interestingly, although participants actively utilized these features, many were unaware that the technologies they used incorporated artificial intelligence. This finding suggests that the level of AI utilization among SMEs is higher than the level of AI awareness. Furthermore, intense digital competition and the need to continuously create engaging content were identified as the primary challenges faced by SMEs in digital business environments. The study contributes to the growing literature on AI-assisted social commerce by providing empirical insights into how SMEs integrate digital technologies into their daily business practices and highlighting the importance of digital literacy, content creation capabilities, and AI awareness in supporting successful digital transformation.

Abstract

Muslim Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia face serious sustainability challenges due to inflationary pressures and rising production costs following the depreciation of the Rupiah. This study aims to analyze the synergy between Islamic financial inclusion and the adoption of digital payments as a strategic mitigation mechanism for businesses in facing these macroeconomic shocks. Through a systematic literature review of 11 scientific articles (2021–2025), this study synthesizes the synergy between financial digitalization and Islamic financial inclusion as an operational resilience mechanism for Muslim MSMEs. The synthesis results show that the adoption of digital payments significantly improves cash flow efficiency and operational transparency, while Islamic financial inclusion provides a foundation for stability through the principles of fairness, partnership, and ethical risk management. This synthesis confirms that the integration of these two instruments is not merely a transaction tool but a crucial operational instrument for building the resilience of Muslim MSME businesses to fluctuations in production costs due to inflationary pressures. In conclusion, the synergy between Islamic financial inclusion and the adoption of digital payments is an effective mitigation strategy for Muslim MSMEs. Therefore, policies to strengthen the competitiveness of business actors need to focus on optimizing access to and implementing an integrated financial system to ensure business sustainability amidst global economic uncertainty.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of the halal economy has increased the importance of understanding the financial behavior of Generation Z as future contributors to the development of Islamic finance. Despite growing awareness of halal products and services, many young individuals demonstrate diverse financial attitudes and practices shaped by educational, economic, social, and religious factors. This study aims to explore and understand the financial behavior of Generation Z within the context of the halal economy through a review of relevant literature related to Islamic finance, financial literacy, religiosity, and financial behavior. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through literature review and thematic analysis of previous studies related to Generation Z, Islamic finance, and the halal economy. The findings from the reviewed literature indicate that Generation Z's financial behavior is influenced by Islamic financial literacy, income conditions, religiosity, family environment, and exposure to digital financial technology. Furthermore, previous studies generally indicate that Islamic finance is perceived as an important component of the halal economy; however, practical challenges such as limited financial resources and varying levels of financial literacy continue to affect financial decisions among Generation Z. The study concludes that strengthening Islamic financial education and increasing awareness of halal financial practices are essential to encourage responsible financial behavior among Generation Z. These findings contribute to the growing literature on Islamic finance, youth financial behavior, and the development of the halal economy in Indonesia.

Abstract

The development of the Islamic finance industry in Indonesia requires the availability of competent human resources (HR) in accordance with the needs of the industry. However, there are still graduates of the Sharia Economics Study Program who work in fields that are not in accordance with their educational background so that their competencies have not been utilized optimally. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the suitability of the field of work of Sharia Economics graduates and the sustainability of human resource development in the Islamic finance industry. The research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through the analysis of various relevant scientific journals, articles, and academic publications. The results of the study show that the suitability of the field of work contributes to optimizing the competence of graduates, improving the quality and productivity of human resources, and supporting the sustainability of the development of the Islamic finance industry. On the other hand, the mismatch in the field of work has the potential to hinder the utilization of graduate competencies and reduce the effectiveness of human resource development. Therefore, synergy is needed between universities and the Islamic finance industry in increasing the relevance of graduate competencies to the needs of the world of work so that they can produce human resources who are professional, competitive, and able to contribute optimally to the development of the Islamic finance industry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of content marketing strategy on consumer purchase intention through the TikTok application at Cyber Printing in Demak Regency. The research was prompted by the suboptimal digital engagement of Cyber Printing’s TikTok account, marked by low interaction rates such as likes, comments, and shares despite high view counts, alongside issues related to visual quality and content appeal. The content marketing strategy was evaluated using four dimensions of the AIDA model: Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action, while purchase intention was measured using transactional, referential, preferential, and explorative indicators. A quantitative approach with an explanatory research design was employed. The population comprised consumers and potential consumers who had viewed or interacted with Cyber Printing's TikTok content. A sample of 96 respondents was selected using purposive sampling based on non-probability sampling formulas for infinite populations. Data collection was conducted through a structured paper questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) executed via SmartPLS 4. The findings indicate that the content marketing strategy exerts a positive and statistically significant effect on consumer purchase intention (T-statistic = 39.301 > 1.96; P-value = 0.000 < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.784 demonstrates that 78.4% of the variance in purchase intention is explained by the content marketing strategy, whereas the remaining 21.6% is driven by external variables. Consequently, optimizing short-form video marketing content on TikTok significantly drives consumer purchase intention for local commercial printing businesses.

Abstract

The increase in industrial activity, trade, and population growth in Kudus Regency has driven a significant rise in waste generation, placing increasing pressure on the regional waste management system. This condition is exacerbated by the continued dominance of a linear economic model, resulting in most waste being disposed of at the Tanjungrejo Final Processing Site (TPA), which is currently experiencing overcapacity. This study aims to identify the characteristics of waste flows, analyze the potential application of Industrial Ecology principles, and develop an Integrated Waste Management (IWM) model based on Industrial Ecology to support the implementation of a Circular Economy in Kudus Regency. The research employs a qualitative case study approach using field observations, in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and document analysis from local government and relevant stakeholders. Data were analyzed using Material Flow Analysis (MFA), Stakeholder Analysis, and Industrial Symbiosis Analysis. The results indicate that Kudus Regency generates approximately 400 tons of waste per day, dominated by organic waste, plastics, and paper. The current system heavily depends on the TPA, receiving around 170–200 tons daily, leading to operational overload. Significant resource leakage occurs due to low recovery rates and weak waste utilization across sectors. Opportunities for industrial symbiosis were identified, including compost and biogas from organic waste, biomass energy from tobacco residue, and biochar from wood waste. The proposed IWM model integrates collection, sorting, recovery, recycling, and symbiosis within a Circular Economy framework, reducing landfill dependence and improving sustainability.
