Abstract

History subject is very urgent in social education and there are four skills that students must master in learning social education: analyzing skills, critical thinking skills, evaluating skills, and creating skills. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the flipped classroom method and learning engagement on students’ critical thinking skills in history lessons. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The used instruments in this research were observation sheets, questionnaires, and critical thinking tests. The data analysis used Two Way ANOVA.  The results showed that the flipped classroom and student engagement affect the student's critical thinking skills. Historical teachers should apply this method by building a pleasant learning atmosphere so that student engagement and critical thinking skills of a student increase.

Abstract

The advancement of technology in education has revolutionized the learning process, transitioning from conventional to digital systems. Technology-based learning addresses the challenge of limited learning time for active students. Digital-based gamification for language learning in schools is a recent development, streamlining the teaching and learning process and enhancing outcomes. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of digital-based gamification models on the engagement and language literacy skills of eighth-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Pariaman City. Using a quasi-experimental approach with a 2x3 factorial design, the study employs the Student Engagement in Schools Questionnaire and a Language Literacy Learning Outcomes Test as research instruments. Results indicate differences in student engagement between gamification and conventional models and between high and low-engagement groups. Interaction effects between gamification and engagement levels on language and literacy ability were observed. Overall, the gamification model proved more effective than conventional methods in enhancing engagement and learning outcomes. It is recommended that the Principal of the Madrasah implement digital-based gamification models tailored to students' needs to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Character education is crucial in fostering moral and ethical values, which are essential for shaping responsible, respectful, and civically minded citizens. Effective character education must address not only cognitive and emotional dimensions but also integrate religious values, which are fundamental in guiding personal morals and ethics. This research, conducted at SMPN 1 and SMPN 2 in Kota Pariaman, aims to explore a holistic approach to incorporating religiosity into education. The study employed a literature review and case study analysis to identify strategies and best practices for this integration. Results suggest that embedding religiosity within character education through a well-rounded curriculum, targeted teacher training, and a supportive school environment significantly strengthens students' moral and ethical development. The study concludes that an integrated character education approach, enriched by religious values, can play a pivotal role in cultivating good citizenship. As a result, collaborative efforts from government, educators, and the wider community are essential for the successful implementation of these strategies.

Abstract

The 40th prayer is a prayer that is performed in congregation within 40 days. This prayer is mostly performed by people who are getting older, both men and women. They usually live in the surau where the 40 prayers are held, the 40 prayers are usually led by a lord, in this case the implementation of the 40 prayers can increase the congregation's discipline in prayer services so that their prayers can be disciplined according to the specified time. Korong Sungai Community From another perspective, durian is a good tradition in order to get used to praying in congregation. This tradition of praying 40 days in congregation takes place every year, in 2024 the Islamic Institute will hold a real work lecture at Korang Sungai Durian and participate in the running of the tradition of 40 prayers, starting from 1 August 2024 to 9 September 2024. This research The aim is to find out the impact of implementing 40 prayers in order to improve the worship discipline of the Jambak Kalawi surau congregation. The main focus of this research is to see how the congregation participates in the 40 prayers that have been carried out.

Abstract

Cyberbullying has become a serious threat to the mental health of adolescents in the digital era. Its impacts include depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and the risk of deviant behavior. A counseling approach based on the values of the Qur'an offers an alternative solution to address these issues through Islamic principles such as compassion (rahmah), wisdom (hikmah), and counsel (mau‘izhah). This study aims to analyze the role of integrating Qur'anic values in counseling to enhance the mental health of adolescents who are victims of cyberbullying. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with literature study and phenomenological analysis of relevant Qur'anic verses and the literature on mental health in Islam. The findings indicate that a Qur'an-based counseling approach can help adolescents develop resilience, cope with emotional stress, and build a strong Islamic identity. Therefore, this approach can serve as a practical guide for Islamic counselors in addressing the mental health issues of adolescents.

Abstract

Teaching and learning activities about understanding the method of Qur'an Reading Training with Tahsin Method TPQ Al Falah Nagari Pauh Kambar, Padang Pariaman students at the Ibtidaiyah (SD / MI) and Tsanawiyah (SMP / MTs) levels in Pauh Kambar Padang Pariaman. At this level the motivation to learn the Koran in children is very minimal because of the lack of ability to read the Koran. The purpose of this teaching and learning activity is to increase children's learning motivation to be fluent in reading the Koran. The method used in this service activity is a descriptive model with a lecture, discussion, and question and answer approach and simulation. The results of teaching and learning activities include: First, students better understand the theory of tajweed. Second, they are motivated to learn the Koran better. Third, with the tahsin method, students can easily improve or improve their reading. Fourth, there are significant changes after using the tahsin method. Abstract

Education is a fundamental pillar in building sustainable and competitive societies in the era of globalization. Amid the dynamics of social change, it is important for the education system to consider socio-cultural and religious values as a strong foundation in the learning process. This article aims to propose a community-based education approach that integrates socio-cultural and religious values as primary elements. This approach not only emphasizes the transfer of knowledge and skills but also the formation of strong character and deep understanding of the cultural identity of society. Using qualitative conceptual analysis and literature review methods, this research explores the relevance and urgency of education rooted in socio-cultural and religious values in the context of increasingly multicultural societies. In the process, this article presents implementation strategies that can be adopted, identifies potential challenges, and outlines the benefits that can be gained from the proposed education approach. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide deeper insights into the role of education in strengthening cultural identity and promoting social harmony in diverse societies

Abstract

The education of children plays a crucial role in influencing the values and principles of the future generation, particularly in the face of intricate contemporary issues. The goal of this research is to explore the significance of child education principles found in the Qur'an and Hadith, and how they can be applied in modern education. The research approach employed involves a literature review along with qualitative analysis, collecting information from sources such as the Qur'an, Hadith, and recent scientific publications on child education. The findings demonstrate that in the Islamic viewpoint, children's education places importance on qualities such as morals, knowledge, orderliness, empathy, and setting a good example, while also adapting to technological advancements and societal shifts. The conversation highlights the crucial role of parents and educators in establishing a supportive environment for children's education aligned with religious beliefs. The study's findings suggest that incorporating the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith into children's education is crucial in cultivating a generation that is not only academically proficient but also possesses admirable character in the digital 5.0 age.

Abstract

The success of student learning during class learning is greatly influenced by interests and emotional intelligence so that teachers must understand students' learning needs and the factors that influence them. This study investigates the effect of learning interest and emotional intelligence on students' learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach using survey methods and a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of all seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Kota Pariaman, from which a sample of 40 students was selected using simple random sampling. The research instruments included a Likert-scale questionnaire to measure learning interest and emotional intelligence, and academic records to assess learning outcomes. Data were analyzed using simple and multiple regression analyses with SPSS version 25. The results indicated a significant positive effect of both learning interest and emotional intelligence on students' learning outcomes in social sciences. It is recommended that seventh-grade social studies teachers assess students' learning interests and emotional intelligence before instruction. This will enable adapting teaching methods to better meet students' needs and enhance learning outcomes

Abstract

Abstrak: Motivasi belajar mahasiswa sering mengalami penurunan akibat kurangnya keterkaitan antara materi akademik dengan budaya local. Pendampingan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan soft skills dan hard skill mahasiswa, seperti kepemimpinan, komunikasi, dan kerja sama, serta memperkenalkan nilai-nilai budaya yang dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan akademik dan profesional mereka. melalui kajian sejarah Minangkabau dengan metode Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) dengan tahapan sosialisasi, penyuluhan, (workshop interaktif praktikum eksploratif. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 30 mahasiswa IAI Sumbar sebagai Mitra pendampingan. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi, penyuluhan, workshop, dan praktikum yang membahas nilai-nilai sejarah dan filosofi Minangkabau. Hasil pendampingan menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi belajar sebesar 40% dan peningkatan soft skills seperti kepemimpinan dan komunikasi sebesar 35% melalui Simulasi/Role-Play. Selain itu, terdapat peningkatan nilai ekonomis sebesar 25% bagi mahasiswa yang mengembangkan produk edukatif berbasis sejarah Minangkabau. Adapun solusi yang ditawarkan dalam kegiatan ini adalah dengan memberikan motivasi tambahan melalui diskusi interaktif dan merancang kunjungan lebih efisien agar dapat mengakomodasi lebih banyak peserta.Abstract: This mentoring aims to improve students' soft skills, such as leadership, communication, and cooperation, as well as introduce cultural values that can be applied in their academic and professional lives. through the study of Minangkabau history with the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method with stages (1) socialization (2) counseling, (3) interactive workshops (4) explorative practicum, Student learning motivation often decreases due to the lack of connection between academic material and local culture. To overcome this problem, this activity involved 30 IAI West Sumatera students as mentoring subjects. The methods used include socialization, counseling, workshops, and practicums that discuss Minangkabau historical and philosophical values. The results showed an increase in learning motivation by 40% and an increase in soft skills such as leadership and communication by 35%. In addition, there is an increase in economic value by 25% for students who develop educational products based on Minangkabau history. Thus, the solution offered in this assistance is a series of activities that integrate Minangkabau history in student learning. The designed program includes: (1) socialization on the importance of Minangkabau history in education, (2) counseling on the values of leadership and work ethic contained in Minangkabau history, (3) interactive workshops involving students, (4) workshops on the importance of Minangkabau history in education.
