Abstract

This research aims to apply the ARCS model to students in class IV of SD Negeri 111 Pidoli Dolok and investigate whether the Indonesian language learning outcomes of these students have improved. This research uses the classroom action research (PTK) method. This study used a cycle design, cycle I and cycle II, with a population of 24 students from class IV. Observation and testing were the research instruments used. This research utilized qualitative descriptions, quantitative descriptions, and validity and reliability tests to analyze the data. The results of this research show that the ARCS model approach shows that students still found several problems in the first cycle, with an average score of 71.88% (fair), and then improved in the second cycle, with an average score of 95% (very good). . Based on students' learning results in the first cycle, they obtained a classical completeness score of 71,88%, and in the second cycle, they obtained a completeness score of 92,86%. Therefore, we can conclude that the implemented ARCS model approach effectively enhances student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of using Counting Box media for teaching addition and subtraction of numbers from 1 to 20 to first-grade students at SD Negeri 100100 Simaninggir in Batang Onang District. It also aims to assess whether the use of Counting Box media enhances mathematics learning outcomes for these students. This study employs a classroom action research (CAR) methodology, structured with a pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II design. The research population consists of 14 first-grade students, and data collection methods include observations and tests. The data were analyzed using 1) qualitative descriptions obtained from student observations, 2) quantitative descriptions obtained from student learning outcomes through tests. Based on student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle, an average score of 63.57 was obtained from 14 students, only 4 (28.57%) reached the KKM and 10 students (71.43%) did not reach the KKM. In cycle I obtained an average score of 69 from 14 students, only 8 students (57%) achieved the KKM and 6 students (43%) did not reach the KKM and experienced an increase in cycle II with an average score of 86 from 14 students 13 students (93%) have reached the KKM and only 1 (7%) student has not reached the KKM with an average increase of 17. The results of this study indicate that the use of Counting Box Media is effective and can improve student learning outcomes Class I of SD Negeri 100100 Simaninggir, Batang Onang District.

Abstract

Morphological awareness, which involves understanding word structure and formation, plays a pivotal role in developing reading fluency among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. This study investigates the effect of AI-based tools on morphological awareness and reading fluency among 25 third-semester English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students at STAIN Mandailing Natal. Using a quantitative pre-test and post-test design, students completed a 30-item morphology awareness test and a fluency reading test before the intervention, which involved using Grammarly and ReadTheory for eight weeks. Grammarly provided feedback on morphology-related errors, while ReadTheory adapted reading passages to proficiency levels. A post-test was used to measure improvements, which were analyzed using a paired t-test. Results show a significant increase in post-test scores, confirming the effectiveness of AI tools in enhancing morphological understanding and reading fluency. Compared to previous studies, this research reinforces the correlation between morphological awareness and reading skills, while highlighting the role of AI as an interactive learning tool. These findings suggest that integrating AI into EFL instruction enhances self-directed learning, improves linguistic accuracy, and fosters reading proficiency.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of Wordwall, an interactive learning platform, in enhancing reading comprehension skills in English language teaching. The research focused on how the platform’s interactive and gamified activities could improve students’ engagement, focus, and overall comprehension abilities. Through qualitative data collected from student interviews, teacher observations, and classroom activities, the study revealed that Wordwall significantly increased student participation and engagement compared to traditional teaching methods. The platform’s dynamic features, such as matching games and sequencing tasks, helped students better identify main ideas, infer meanings from context, and summarize information. Teachers reported that students remained more focused during lessons, with the interactive nature of the activities reducing distractions. Additionally, the study highlighted challenges such as limited internet access and the need for more varied activity types. The findings suggest that Wordwall can be a valuable tool in developing reading comprehension skills, offering a more engaging and interactive approach to English language teaching. Recommendations include addressing technical limitations and providing more diverse learning materials to enhance the platform’s effectiveness.
