Abstract

The student movement has always emerged as a disruptive force in every episode of the history of the Indonesian national movement. It often emerges as a response to a condition (problem and crisis). The pattern of the escalation of the student movement is certainly different in several contexts of events in Indonesia every era. This article will more specifically discuss the pattern and escalation of the student movement in the post-reform context. The author takes the periodization between 1999-2024 as the limit of analysis. This is because during this period, there were several major events and unique phenomena that occurred related to how the pattern of the re-establishment of the escalation of the student movement after the 1998 reformation. The author will also discuss the phenomenon of student movement escalation using a class perspective (Karl Marx). In the process of preparing this article, the author used the literature study research method (library research). Desk research limits research activities to library collections without the need for field research. There are several findings from the process of unraveling the direction and results achieved by the student movement in the post-1998 Reformation period that the author found including; the phenomenon of bourgeois activism, the failure of efforts to elaborate the structural basis by movement actors, the urgency to translate an empowered and sovereign student movement, to the need to form an organic movement node by involving cross-sectors to achieve a people's movement that is not exclusive. Through the following contribution, the author hopes that today's students will no longer lose their identity as academic elites as well as social control and value guardians.

Abstract

Structural poverty represents a persistent form of deprivation that arises from systemic social and economic inequalities, yet it has not been sufficiently addressed within the framework of sustainable development. This gap is critical because sustainable development goals inherently emphasize inclusivity, justice, and long-term equity. The purpose of this study is to analyze how structural poverty is conceptualized and interpreted in relation to sustainable economics, as well as to explore its implications for achieving sustainability-oriented policies and practices. This research employs a qualitative literature review, systematically analyzing scholarly publications from the last ten years. Thematic analysis was applied to identify dominant themes, theoretical orientations, and empirical findings concerning the nexus of poverty and sustainability. The results show that structural socio-economic inequalities remain a major barrier to fulfilling sustainable development goals, particularly those related to social and economic justice. Moreover, the study provides a conceptual mapping that highlights how interdisciplinary approaches—from economics, sociology, and environmental studies—offer valuable insights into addressing the systemic roots of poverty. The contribution of this study lies in deepening theoretical understanding while simultaneously offering practical relevance. It underscores the urgency of integrating structural poverty into sustainability discourse and suggests that future policy must address systemic inequalities to promote more equitable and sustainable development.

Abstract

Childhood trauma is a serious mental health issue with long-lasting effects on a child’s emotional and psychological well-being. This study analyses the characteristics of childhood trauma in Jessie Ann Foley’s You Know I’m No Good, focusing on Mia Dempsey, a teenager who struggles with traumatic experiences. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, collecting primary data from the novel’s narrations and dialogues, and using Terr’s framework as secondary data to analyse the characteristics of childhood trauma. The findings show that Mia experiences repetitive behaviours, such as repeated engagement in unsafe sexual behaviour and substance use, as attempts to cope with her past sexual abuse. Her traumatic experiences also change her attitudes toward people, life, and the future, as she struggles to trust others, feels undeserving of a good life, and becomes pessimistic about her potential.

Abstract

Glaucoma is an eye disease characterized by increased intraocular pressure (IOP), which can cause pain and permanent vision loss. One non-pharmacological method that can be used to reduce pain is the Benson relaxation technique. The pain experienced by clients is influenced by a number of factors including past experiences with pain, anxiety, age, and expectations about pain relief. The first complaint of pain is felt around the eyelids and the back of the head, showing a decrease in visual acuity, then there is a halo or rainbow around the lights being seen and chemotherapies appear in the bulbar conjunctiva or edema with ciliary injection, severe corneal edema so that the cornea appears cloudy. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Benson relaxation technique in reducing pain intensity in glaucoma patients. The research method uses a pre-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consisted of glaucoma patients who were given the Benson relaxation technique for 10-15 minutes, 1-2 times a day. The results showed a significant reduction in pain intensity after the intervention (p = 0.000, p < 0.05). This technique has been proven to be effective and can be used as a complementary nursing intervention in pain management in glaucoma patients.

Abstract

Intra-abdominal organs are receptors that are more sensitive to temperature, cold. While the large vein area is effective because of the vasodilation process by giving warm compresses to reduce body temperature on the body surface. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of giving warm compresses to the abdominal wall (abdomen) and large vein (axilla) area to decrease the body temperature in fever patients. The design of this research is Quast-Experiment, Design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design approach. The population of this study was all patients with fever as many as 26 respondents. Samples were taken by consecutive sampling technique as many as 20 patients. The research variable is a warm compress in the axilla and abdomen and the independent variable is a decrease in body temperature. Data were collected by observing body temperature and analyzed by using the T-test. The results showed that abdominal compresses were more effective because the number of patients who did not experience a decrease was 1 respondent, while the axilla compression had 2 respondents. The results of the normality test of the data showed that the data were not normally distributed so that the hypothesis testing used the T-test and the results showed that the data was p = 0.000, = 0.05 so that p < a means Ho is rejected, meaning that the difference in body temperature decrease between giving axillary compresses and abdominal compresses is not too significant. and not that much different. Keywords: Warm Compress, Fever, Body Temperature.
