Abstract

Backgrounds: The role of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in angiogenesis is impaired in diabetes mellitus. The present study was conducted to observe the effects of nanopartikel green tea on the ability of EPCs exposed to high levels of glucose to release NO and induce endothelial cell migration. Purpose: This study aims to describe the mechanism of the role of green tea nanoparticles in increasing migration of endothelial cells in HUVEC cultures exposed to EPC-CM. The function of EPCs was assessed by evaluating HUVEC migration after administration of EPC-Conditioned Media. HUVEC migration was assessed by the Boyden chamber assay method. Method: Green Tea Nano Particles treatment at doses of 30 nM and 50 nM significantly increased endothelial cell migration at high glucose exposure of 22 mM. At a dose of 50 nM, normal glucose exposure increased endothelial cell migration better than high glucose exposure. Administration of high levels of glucose resulted in a decrease in the ability of EPCs to induce HUVEC migration, decrease in NO of EPCs, and decrease in the factor affecting EPC migration, namely SDF-1α and CXCR4. Results: Administration of 50 μM of nanopartikel green tea could inhibit the decreased ability of EPCs to induce HUVEC migration, and this effect was associated with NO, SDF-1α and CXCR4 concentrations. Conclusions: Administration of nanopartikel green tea could maintain the ability of EPCs exposed to high levels of glucose to release NO and induce HUVEC migration through an increase in SDF-1α and CXCR4.

Abstract

This article exposes the crucial points of narratology to expand knowledge of everyday life. This writing is based on community service done to elementary students in Wisma Penjaringan Sari, Rungkut, Surabaya from 2023 to 2024. Narratology mainly emphasizes matters of narrative structures indicated through perceptions of the cultural world as supported by Tzvetan Todorov. Everyday life is understood as reflections of complex actualizations of plural identities in the sense of the living world. Through explorative approach in qualitative research, this paper digs more understanding of everyday life as stories of experience and taste of the people. Putting focus on narrations of the people, the analysis accentuates more into knowledge of everyday life as a never-ending process. It is a continuous understanding being underlined through meanings of individual experience in everyday life. Furthermore, narrative structures include matters of other individuals as otherness. In conclusion, narratology is significant in expanding knowledge of everyday life especially in widening perspectives of otherness through understanding of own self.

Abstract

Hypertension is a prevalent, non-communicable disease with elevated blood pressure. Overconsumption of salt increases blood pressure, posing a risk of stroke and heart attack. The DASH diet aims to lower blood pressure and maintain normal levels. This study aims to explore the relationship between self-efficacy, DAHS diet, and blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the Kediri City sub-district. The study used a quantitative, observational, and cross-sectional approach to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy, the DASH diet, and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. A sample of 100 respondents was surveyed using questionnaires. The results showed that over half (70.0%) had high self-efficacy and adherence to the DAHS diet, while almost half (45.0%) had normal blood pressure. The chi-square test resulted in a p value of 0.000, rejecting the hypothesis.

Abstract

Confusion of Tongues stated by Sándor Ferenczi to show problematic relations between adults and children. He asserts traumatism, done by adults and experienced by children, may shape different perceptions in process. Emphasized by psychoanalysis, desire of love is so dominating that could result to violence. My Oedipus Complex is Frank O’ Connor’s short story that features perfect relationship of a child named Larry and his mother that is disturbed by return of his father from war. The mother tells his father as a puzzle then he becomes enemy for Larry for taking mother’s side. The child’s purity shifted into hate; from being accompanied to lonely and from being close to having distance. So, how is confusion of tongues analyzed in Frank O’ Connor’s My Oedipus Complex? Through qualitative method on Ferenczi’s perspective, this paper indicates psychoanalytic understandings in how language of mother disconcerted by child. The passion of love may break the heart of a child who loses that. Language of desire is reflection of not only giving but also obsessing and possessing. In conclusion, underlining confusion of tongues explains how passion could affect child differently. Any determination of love could always be misinterpreted especially through losing it.

Abstract

One agricultural product with significant economic worth is soybeans. In Indonesia, soybean production is still low, while demand is high. Soybean productivity on coastal sandland can be increased by increasing the effectiveness of fertilizer with the use of nano biochar-coated urea fertilizer. This investigation seeks to evaluate the efficacy of nano-biochar coatings applied to various forms of urea as a nitrogen slow-release mechanism to enhance the growth and yield of soybean crops in coastal sandy terrain. This empirical research was executed within the Agricultural Experiment Greenhouse at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta from March to June 2022. The methodology employed was experimental research utilizing a single-factor design organized according to a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) comprising six treatments. Each treatment included six plant samples with three replications, specifically: Urea Prill, Nano Biochar Coated Urea Prill, Urea Granules, Nano Biochar Coated Urea Granules, Urea Tablet, and Nano Biochar Coated Urea Tablet. The findings indicated that applying nano-biochar derived from coconut shells to urea prill significantly promotes the growth and yield of soybeans within coastal sandy soil. In future agronomic applications, nano biochar-coated urea prill can enhance urea's efficacy and improve soybean yields.
