Abstract

Productivity measurement has an important role in evaluating and establishing the next strategy in increasing productivity levels. This study aims to determine the level of productivity of a refined sugar company and provide suggestions for improvements to increase the level of productivity. This research uses the Objective Matrix (OMAX) method with five ratio indicators, namely yield achievement, actual production achievement criteria, boiler natural gas consumption criteria, electricity consumption criteria, and employee absenteeism criteria. This study uses company data for 2018 in accordance with company recommendations. The results showed that for one year, the productivity values and performance index differed each month. The performance index with the highest point was in February, which reached 426.3% and in May, which reached 306%. Based on the traffic light system, ratio 1 has six minimum performance periods, ratio 2 has eight minimum performance periods, ratio 3 has four minimum performance periods, ratio 4 has four minimum work periods, and ratio 5 has five minimum work periods. Improvement steps that can be done to improve the actual achievement of production are the provision of regular training to enhance skills and cooperation between operators, improvement of maintenance management systems, development of air circulation, and supplier evaluation. The OMAX method can identify performances that have below standard production, and recommendations for improvement can be prioritized on the ratio that experiences the most substandard performance.

Abstract

The project construction of 2nd floors of GITET Cilegon Building at PT. PLN Persero run is not optimal. Delay is one of the waste occurs in the construction. This research aims to optimize the project construction with a lean thinking approach. Lean Project Management is a method used to obtain an optimal project schedule. Delay factors among others delay in material arrival, bad weather, and broken equipment. The highest risk potential was Acts of God and Natural Hazard such as rain, flood, or natural disasters. The recommendations for improvements to this problem are the switch of work that is material constrained, switch of work if any bad weather occurs. The results of the study obtained a time efficiency value of 33 days so that the work execution time could be accelerated to 156 days from the previous 189 days. The time efficiency contributes to project costs with an efficiency value of IDR 374.400.000.

Abstract

Project completion work has problems related to project completion not being on time, thereby increasing costs and resources. The work on the gantry crane structure includes projects that experience problems related to incompatibility between project planning and actual project work. This study aims to plan project activities by speeding up processing time and providing prevention strategies to minimize project delays. This study uses the critical chain project management method using the cut & paste method by 30%. The results showed the total buffer time was ten days, consisting of eight project buffer days and two feeding buffer days. The total time for the semi-gantry crane structure project has accelerated from 43 days to 33 days. Suggestions for prevention that can be done to complete the project according to the plan are adding project workers, adding tools or machines, and eliminating multitasking activities that cause project workers not to finish their work immediately.
