Abstract

This study aims to describe the types and factors causing code switching and code mixing in the novel Faith and the City by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. According to results, there are three types of code mixing found are insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization types. The factors of code mixing are talking about certain topics, citing other people's conversations, emphasizing something, exclamations, repetition to clarify, clarifying the contents of the conversation to others. interlocutor, shows the identity of a group, expands or emphasizes requests or orders, lexical needs, and the efficiency of a conversation.

Abstract

Exploitation of the Subaltern in Novel Perempuan Kembang Jepun by Lan Fang (a Gayatri Spivak Postcolonial Review). This study aims to reveal forms of exploitation and violence against subalterns in Lan Fang’s novel Perempuan Kembang Jepun, seen from the postcolonial review of Gayatri Spivak. This research is qualitative descriptive. The data of this research are in the form of words, phrases, or sentences which indicate forms of exploitation and violence against subaltern characters in Lan Fang’s novel Perempuan Kembang Jepun. The results of the research are forms of exploitation of the subaltern during the colonial period, namely sexual and economic exploitation. As for the forms of violence experienced by subaltern characters in the novel, namely physical violence and psychological violence.

Abstract

Abstrak:  Penelitian ini terdapat data ancaman muka atau pelanggaran kesantunan berbahasa yang ditemukan berjumlah 80 data dari 7 akun yang berbeda. Tuturan dari mengancam muka negatif terdapat empat bentuk tuturan yang dapat mengancam muka penutur atau mitra tuturnya yaitu (a) bentuk tuturan perintah terdapat, (b) bentuk tuturan memohon, (c) bentuk tuturan menyarankan, (d) bentuk tuturan menakut-nakuti atau melarang. Sedangkan ancaman muka positif terdapat bentuk tuturan (a)bentuk tuturan penghinaan, (b) bentuk tuuturan menolak, (c) bentuk tuturan mempermalukan. Adapun realisasi strategi kesantunan off record. Kata kunci: krisis kesantunan, mengancam muka, media sosial.

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) Reveal the interest in learning Indonesian of class X students at Hang Tuah High School Makassar, (2) Reveal the ability to write poetry of class X students at Hang Tuah High School, Makassar. Data collection techniques through observation, questionnaires, performance tests, and documentation with a population of 120 people and a sample of 30 people. Data analysis using SPSS. 29. The results of this research show that the level of interest in learning Indonesian is classified as very weak with a score interpretation of 0% – 54% regarding feelings of happiness, interest, student attention, and student involvement. The ability to write poetry is classified in the very good category with an average score of 85.93 in terms of theme selection, diction, language style, imagery, and message. The results of the analysis and hypothesis based on the results of the Pearson's correlation test with a t-test significance value of 6.551 > 1.701 indicate that there is no very large or solid relationship between interest in learning Indonesian and the ability to write poetry in class X students at Hang Tuah High School, Makassar.

Abstract

This study aims to describe three main aspects: (1) the identity crisis experienced by the character Iyan at the stage of searching for her identity, (2) the factors that influence the formation of her identity, and (3) the internal and external conflicts she faces. This study uses a qualitative method. The data in this study are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, or excerpts from the novel Iyan Bukan Anak Tengah by Armaraher in the form of narratives, dialogues and monologues. The research collection technique was collected through documentation, reading and taking notes. The data analysis technique in this study was to read carefully and repeatedly the novel Iyan Bukan Anak Tengah by Armaraher, identify data related to the identity of the main character in the novel Iyan Bukan Anak Tengah, record research problem data, test the validity of the data with two techniques, namely perseverance and observation. Iyan's identity search process reflects the struggle of adolescents in finding their identity amidst family and environmental pressures. This study emphasizes the importance of family support in forming a strong self-identity and the relevance of Erikson's theory in understanding the psychological dynamics of fictional characters. The results of the study indicate that Iyan experiences an identity crisis due to her role as the middle child in a family that lacks emotional attention. Iyan's internal conflicts include feelings of inferiority, disappointment, and lack of support from his family, while his external conflicts involve unfair treatment from his parents and siblings. The main factors that influence the formation of Iyan's identity include his family environment, social pressure, and his life experiences as a middle child who is often neglected.Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tiga aspek utama: (1) krisis identitas yang dialami tokoh Iyan pada tahap pencarian jati diri, (2) faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi pembentukan identitas dirinya, dan (3) konflik internal serta eksternal yang dihadapinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata, frasa, klausa, atau kalimat penggalan dalam novel iyan bukan anak tengah karya Armaraher yang berbentuk narasi, dialog dan monolog. Teknik pengumpualn  penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi, membaca dan mencatat. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini membaca secara cermat dan berulang-ulang novel iyan bukan anak tengah karya armaraher,mengidentifikasi data yang berhubungan dengan identitas diri tokoh utama dalam novel iyan bukan anak tengah, mencatat data permasalahan penelitian, menguji keabsahan data dengan dua teknik yaitu ketekunan dan pengamatan.  Proses pencarian identitas Iyan mencerminkan perjuangan remaja dalam menemukan jati diri mereka di tengah tekanan keluarga dan lingkungan. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya dukungan keluarga dalam membentuk identitas diri yang kuat serta relevansi teori Erikson dalam memahami dinamika psikologis tokoh fiksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Iyan mengalami krisis identitas akibat perannya sebagai anak tengah dalam keluarga yang kurang memberikan perhatian emosional. Konflik internal Iyan mencakup perasaan rendah diri, kecewa, dan kurangnya dukungan dari keluarga, sementara konflik eksternalnya melibatkan ketidakadilan perlakuan dari orang tua dan saudara-saudaranya. Faktor utama yang memengaruhi pembentukan identitas Iyan meliputi lingkungan keluarga, tekanan sosial, dan pengalaman hidupnya sebagai anak tengah yang sering diabaikan.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan menggambarkan cara-cara kesantunan dalam percakapan lisan oleh siswa-siswi kelas VII. 5 di UPT SPF SMP Negeri 27 Makassar. Metode yang diterapkan bersifat humanis, yaitu mendekati siswa sebagai individu yang utuh, dengan memperhatikan perasaan, nilai-nilai, dan cara berinteraksi mereka sehari-hari. Penelitian ini mengamati bagaimana siswa berbicara dengan sopan. Strategi yang digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran meliputi penyampaian materi, sesi diskusi, praktik, dan refleksi. Materi diberikan untuk memperkenalkan kesantunan berbahasa, kemudian siswa diajak untuk berdiskusi sehingga dapat menghubungkan teori dengan pengalaman pribadi mereka. Setelah itu, praktik dilakukan melalui simulasi percakapan, dan kegiatan diakhiri dengan refleksi agar siswa menyadari pentingnya bersikap santun dalam komunikasi sehari-hari. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa dapat mengenali dan menerapkan bentuk-bentuk kesantunan, seperti memilih sapaan yang sesuai, menggunakan kata-kata yang tidak menyinggung, serta menyampaikan pandangan dengan cara yang baik. Pendekatan humanis terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran tentang pentingnya berbahasa dengan santun karena siswa merasa dihargai dan lebih terbuka dalam berinteraksi.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the form and function of satire language style in netizen comments on the TikTok account @fujiiian. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The source of research data, namely netizen comments in the comments column of the @fujiiian account on the TikTok application. Data collection techniques are carried out using observation and documentation techniques or screen capture. Data analysis techniques, namely data reduction to highlight relevant information, data presentation is the stage where the data is displayed to be more easily understood, and conclusions to summarize the data that has been analyzed to be associated with the focus of the study. The results of this study indicate that the form of language style includes irony, cynicism, and sarcasm. The function of satire language style is divided into 5 categories, namely functions in the form of sentences, opinions, questions, similarities, comparisons, and commands.

Abstract

This study examines the strategies of Indonesian language teachers in implementing the Independent Curriculum at SMPN 1 Tompobulu, Bantaeng Regency. The purpose of the study is to describe the planning, implementation, and assessment strategies of Indonesian language teachers in implementing the Independent Curriculum at SMPN 1 Tompobulu, Bantaeng Regency. The type of research is qualitative with a descriptive qualitative approach design. Data collection techniques through interviews with two Indonesian language teachers, classroom observations, and document analysis. The data analysis technique in this study uses analysis according to Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the strategy of Indonesian language teachers in the planning stage has considered aspects of mature planning and student needs. At the implementation stage, teachers have used teaching tools by referring to teaching modules, and at the assessment stage using a comprehensive assessment of learning. This study concludes that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum has shown success in creating effective and meaningful learning for students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the language choices used by the Makassar community in interactions at the Makassar Culinary Night (MCN) event, as well as the factors that influence it using the SPEAKING model from Dell Hymes as an analytical framework. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and questionnaires involving traders, visitors, and event organizers. The results of the study indicate that Indonesian dominates in buying and selling transactions, while code switching and code mixing with Makassar and Bugis languages ​​are often used as strategies to express identity and solidarity. In addition, factors such as the situation (setting), participants, communication goals (ends), sequence of speech (act sequence), tone (key), means (instrumentalities), social norms, and conversational genres collectively shape the pattern of language choices. These findings emphasize that language choices not only function as a means of communication, but also as a means to assert social status, build interpersonal relationships, and express cultural pride. Linguistic dynamics in multicultural public spaces, such as MCN, reflect the flexibility and creativity of urban community discourse. This study is expected to be a basis for the development of inclusive language policies that are responsive to the communication needs of the Makassar community.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and learning outcomes of ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 26 Makassar in understanding the content of short stories through the application of the Jigsaw learning model. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques include observation to observe student activities and involvement during the learning process, tests conducted before and after learning to measure the increase in student understanding of the content of short stories, questionnaires to collect student responses regarding the effectiveness of the Jigsaw model application, and documentation as complementary data to support the validity of the research results. Data from observations, questionnaires, and documentation were analyzed qualitatively, while test data were analyzed quantitatively using the average value and the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) as a reference. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in students' reading ability. In cycle I, the average value of student learning outcomes was 67.67, still below the specified KKM of 75. After improvements and strengthening strategies were made in cycle II, the average value increased to 80.17. This indicates that the Jigsaw learning model is effective in improving the reading skills of ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 26 Makassar, particularly in understanding the content of short stories.
