Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing Qur’anic reading proficiency of students, as reflected in various achievements in Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) competitions, particularly at Mushala Jihadul Ihsan, Jorong Balai Oli, Nagari Jawi Jawi Guguk. The study aims to explore the strategies employed by Qur’an teachers to enhance students’ Qur’anic reading abilities. A descriptive qualitative method was used, involving Qur’an teachers, students, and parents as participants, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that two main strategies were implemented: the individual classical strategy and the repetition strategy. The individual classical strategy involves group learning sessions with direct correction of students’ recitations, while the repetition strategy focuses on repeated reading of verses to reinforce tajwid understanding and correct makhraj articulation. Both strategies have proven effective in gradually and comprehensively improving Qur’anic reading skills. These findings affirm that the success of Qur’anic reading instruction is strongly influenced by the active role of the Qur’an teacher and the use of adaptive and contextual approaches. The practical implication of this study suggests that appropriate strategies can foster the development of a Qur’anic generation equipped with both spiritual depth and technical proficiency in reading the holy text.

Abstract

This study examines the values of moral education in the animated film Hafiz and Hafizah in shaping intelligent and pious children's character. The purpose of this research is to identify the moral education values present in the animated film. The method used is a qualitative approach with content analysis as the research type. The subjects of the study consist of two video samples taken from the YouTube channel Hafiz and Hafizah, titled “Apa Yang Disukai Allah Part 2” and “Bazzar Untuk Kebaikan Part 2.” The data collection instruments included observation and documentation. The results indicate that the moral education values in the animated film Hafiz and Hafizah encompass (1) moral education values to Allah in the context of being devout to Allah Swt and (2) moral education values to others in the context of sharing and forgiving one another. These findings provide significant contributions to the development of children's character through animated media and can serve as a reference for moral education in family and school environments.

Abstract

The study addressed the gap in understanding how local wisdom and religious moderation are integrated into regional regulations in West Sumatra, a region with rich customary and religious traditions but ranked low on the national tolerance index. Despite having a strong philosophical foundation in Adat Basandi Syara’, Syara’ Basandi Kitabullah, current legal instruments may not adequately reflect these values to foster a tolerant and inclusive society. The study aimed to examine the portrait of regional regulations on public order and public tranquility in West Sumatra from 2009 to 2023, to realize a tolerant and inclusive society. The method used an empirical legal research with a socio-legal approach drawn from primary data in West Sumatra. The findings showed that the Regional Regulations (Perda) in West Sumatra have not yet embodied the principles of public order and social tranquility based on tolerance and inclusivity. Of the 634 Perdas analyzed from 2009 to 2023, only 2.2% addressed issues related to public order. Moreover, they narrowly focused on nuisance permits, alcoholic beverage control, and public morality. Therefore, this indicated a significant gap in incorporating local wisdom and religious values rooted in the Minangkabau philosophy of Adat Basandi Syara', Syara' Basandi Kitabullah, into regulatory frameworks that promote harmony in a pluralistic society.
