Abstract

Artikel ini membahas praktik puasa dalam Agama Buddha, khususnya Hari Uposatha, yang memiliki makna spiritual mendalam. Puasa dalam konteks ini melibatkan delapan aturan moral dan lima aturan dasar, serta memiliki peran penting dalam pengembangan diri dan pencarian pencerahan. Melalui studi literatur, artikel ini mengungkapkan bahwa puasa dalam Agama Buddha digunakan sebagai sarana untuk mengendalikan hawa nafsu, mengembangkan ketenangan batin, dan mendekatkan diri pada pencerahan. Artikel juga menyoroti tata cara pelaksanaan Hari Uposatha yang dilakukan berdasarkan penanggalan Lunar, serta membahas permasalahan dan pertanyaan seputar praktik puasa dalam Agama Buddha di Indonesia. Selanjutnya, pembahasan mencakup sistem penanggalan Hari Uposatha, aturan-aturan khusus yang harus diikuti, dan aktivitas yang dapat dilakukan oleh umat Buddha selama menjalankan Uposatha. Selain itu, artikel mengeksplorasi cara umat Buddha dapat meningkatkan wawasan dan kesadaran diri selama Uposatha, termasuk melalui meditasi. Penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa meditasi memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga kesehatan mental dan meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menghadapi stres. Artikel mengakhiri dengan mengajukan pertanyaan kritis tentang bagaimana mengurangi efek dominansi budaya agama lain pada Agama Buddha di Indonesia. Solusinya mencakup dukungan terhadap organisasi Buddhis dan pendidikan umat Buddha mengenai ajaran Dhamma untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini. Artikel ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan dan solusi terhadap permasalahan terkait puasa dalam Agama Buddha di Indonesia. Kata kunci: puasa; uposatha; agama Buddha; Indonesia   This article discusses the practice of fasting in Buddhism, especially Uposatha Day, which has deep spiritual meaning. Fasting in this context involves eight moral rules and five basic rules, and has an important role in self-development and the search for enlightenment. Through literature study, this article reveals that fasting in Buddhism is used as a means to control lust, develop inner calm, and get closer to enlightenment. The article also highlights the procedures for implementing Uposatha Day which is carried out based on the Lunar calendar, as well as discussing problems and questions regarding the practice of fasting in Buddhism in Indonesia. Next, the discussion includes the Uposatha Day calendar system, special rules that must be followed, and activities that Buddhists can carry out while observing the Uposatha. Additionally, the article explores ways Buddhists can increase insight and self-awareness during Uposatha, including through meditation. Research also shows that meditation has an important role in maintaining mental health and improving students' ability to deal with stress. The article concludes by asking critical questions about how to reduce the effects of cultural dominance of other religions on Buddhism in Indonesia. Solutions include support for Buddhist organizations and education of Buddhists in the teachings of the Dhamma to overcome these problems. It is hoped that this article can provide insight and solutions to problems related to fasting in Buddhism in Indonesia. Keyword: fasting; uposatha; Buddhism; meditasi; Indonesia

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi prokrastinasi akademik pada siswa beragama Buddha di SMA Negeri 1 Donorojo. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap siswa yang dipilih berdasarkan kriteria tertentu dan dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak Atlas.ti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor internal seperti motivasi, kecemasan, dan persepsi diri serta faktor eksternal seperti pengaruh teman sebaya dan lingkungan sosial mempengaruhi kecenderungan siswa dalam menyelesaikan tugas akademik. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam memahami dinamika psikologis dan sosial yang mendasari prokrastinasi akademik serta dapat menjadi dasar untuk merancang strategi pembelajaran yang lebih kontekstual dan efektif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa Buddha di SMA Bhakti Karya Kaloran. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, pemanfaatan Kecerdasan Buatan (AI) dieksplorasi sebagai strategi untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan kemandirian belajar siswa. Data dikumpulkan dari 25 siswa Buddha melalui kuesioner menggunakan metode korelasional kuantitatif dan dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan AI memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar, dengan kontribusi sebesar 45,7%, sementara sisanya sebesar 54,3% dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain. Uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai t-hitung sebesar 4,400 dan nilai Sig.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam memahami dinamika psikologis dan sosial yang mendasari prokrastinasi akademik serta dapat menjadi dasar untuk merancang strategi pembelajaran yang lebih kontekstual dan efektif.

Abstract

The research objective was to determine the effect of mindful breathing and mindful sitting practices on the academic stress of Nanyang Zhi Hui High School students in Medan. The population in this study was 82 high school students who had known and participated in the practice of mindful breathing and mindful sitting for 5 years. Data collection methods are questionnaires and documentation as support. Methods of data analysis using inferential statistics with a quantitative approach and multiple linear regression. The data that has been collected is tested for validity and reliability, which is then analyzed using inferential statistical methods. The results showed that the practice of mindful breathing had an effect on the academic stress of Nanyang Zhi Hui Medan High School students by 6.6%, the practice of mindful sitting had an effect on the academic stress of Nanyang Zhi Hui Medan High School students by 5.8% and the practice of mindful breathing and mindful sitting together (simultaneously) had an effect on the academic stress of Nanyang Zhi Hui High School students by 13.6%, with the variable of mindful breathing practice providing an effective contribution of 7.17% while the variable of mindful sitting practice providing an effective contribution of 6.41%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the practice of mindful breathing and mindful sitting has a significant effect on the academic stress of Nanyang Zhi Hui High School students.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the understanding of meditation, which is useful for achieving a state of perfect mental health, peace and tranquility. This is because not all have a complete understanding of meditation, on the contrary, the diversity of types of meditation has resulted in many perspectives on meditation, some of which are contrary to Buddhist teachings, such as meditation to gain wealth, attractive appearance, or supernatural powers. This research uses literature and literature review methods. Literature review with reference review, review of literature publications by previous researchers related to the topic to be researched. The author not only collects theories but various reference sources including journals, Buddhist scriptures and books. From the literature search, the discussion includes: types of meditation to train the mind, conditions that support meditation, the benefits of meditation, samatha bhavana and vipassana bhavana meditation practice, and also current meditation practices, as well as the implications of meditation practice for householders in everyday life as more and more the urgent need to be able to organize oneself better in facing various roles in the family, work and environment.

Abstract

This study aims to dissect the challenges, identify the unique characteristics, and propose viable strategies for the seamless integration of local and global dimensions in higher Buddhist education. This study used the systematic literature review method with a qualitative approach.   The research hinged on an extensive review of scholarly articles, primary texts, and reports on Buddhist education in Indonesia and internationally and then analyzed using thematic analysis. Results highlight that Indonesian Buddhist education possesses unique characteristics and mirrors global patterns, albeit with localized interpretations. The study underscored the importance of recognizing and integrating the Buddhayana spirit amidst global Buddhist sectarian diversities. The contribution of this review was twofold: first, it enriches the understanding of the specificities of Indonesian Buddhist higher education and its relation to global trends; second, it advocates for a harmonious blend of local and global in shaping the trajectory of global Buddhist pedagogy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi dampak meditasi Samatha Bhavana, khususnya dengan menggunakan Anapanasati sebagai objek, terhadap tingkat konsentrasi peserta selama periode tujuh hari. Penelitian dilakukan di Vihara Dharma Subha dengan melibatkan 40 subjek yang menjalani penilaian konsentrasi sebelum dan sesudah meditasi. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tes kognitif. Analisis statistik deskriptif dan inferensial, termasuk uji t-pasangan, digunakan untuk mengevaluasi perubahan tingkat konsentrasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam skor konsentrasi peserta setelah retret meditasi (rata-rata skor meningkat dari 65,4 menjadi 78,6; p < 0,01). Temuan ini konsisten dengan penelitian sebelumnya yang menunjukkan bahwa meditasi dapat meningkatkan fungsi kognitif, termasuk perhatian, memori, dan kontrol eksekutif. Penelitian ini memberikan bukti bahwa meditasi Anapanasati dapat menjadi alat yang efektif untuk meningkatkan konsentrasi dan kesehatan mental dalam jangka pendek. Abstract

Due to a fact that the concept is new for both learners and educators, there are several roles that must be taken into account when conducting MBKM. Many issues were discovered as a result of observations performed on several campuses, including the following: 1) Students from multiple campuses took part of learning implementation during the MBKM activity, but many of them were involved in these activities and had varied interests. 2) The phenomenon I discovered regarding the MBKM's actions as though it had not been managed. The researchers pose the research question, "How is the management of the conduction of MBKM in Buddhist Colleges?" The data were collected, reduced, and then evaluated using qualitative research data analysis. Due to a number of issues, including a lack of understanding of MBKM literacy, implementation goals and objectives, a lack of resources, and the fact that many lecturers do not completely grasp how to use MBKM, it appears to be too difficult for Buddhist institutions to implement. The table above also provides information on the requirements for joining MBKM for the reader's understanding. The duties of leaders involve not only acquiring this data but also organizing the next program. Before starting the steps, the leader must understand the directions. Planning, organizing, coordinating, and assessing are the managerial functions, on the other hand, according to academics.

Abstract

Kegiatan  pengabdian  kepada  masyarakat  ini  bertujuan  untuk memperkenalkan meditasi pelangi ke anak-anak Sekolah Minggu yang berjumlah sebanyak 12 siswa di Vihara Pubba Mangala Arama Pekanbaru. Meditasi pelangi membuat anak-anak dapat bernapas sambil membayangkan berbagai warna pada tubuhnya. Meditasi ini berdurasi sekitar 15-30 menit. Mengenalkan meditasi kepada siswa merupakan hal yang sangat positif. Guru membimbing anak belajar fokus atau menenangkan pikiran, melatih kesadaran dan perhatian pada ketujuh warna pelangi. Meditasi pelangi berdampak pada perkembangan cinta kasih dan kasih sayang anak-anak kepada semua orang. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa anak-anak memahami pentingnya rasa cinta dan kasih sayang dan kepedulian terhadap diri sendiri, keluarga, guru, teman, orang yang dikenal maupun yang tidak dikenal. Meditasi pelangi sangat menarik dan bermanfaat bagi anak-anak. Anak-anak lebih terbimbing dan tidak bosan untuk melakukan meditasi.
