Abstract

The upper-class dominates various social spaces in society, including children’s stories. Children’s stories as a means of socializing values also participate in socializing upper-class habitus in the storyline. This study aims to describe the children’s habitus as narrated in short stories published in Bobo magazine. The method used in this study is the quantitative content analysis method and critical discourse analysis. This study’s object is about 174 short stories published in Bobo magazine from January 2019 to August 2020, of which 110 stories were taken randomly as samples. The results show that most of the children’s habitus narrated in the stories were upper-class children’s habitus, reaching out to 87 or 79.1% of all stories. Meanwhile, lower-class children’s habitus was found in 30.9% of all stories. The habitus of upper-class children featured in the story consisting of go on an excursion, luxury living, own electronic goods, own expensive good, wearing nightgowns, reading, and writing. On the other side, the habitus of lower-class children habitus featured in the story consisting of playing traditional games, living in poverty, and doing lower-class work. In conclusion, the upper-class children’s habitus appears more dominantly within short stories in Bobo magazine. This study’s results are expected as recommend to parties related to children’s stories publication to present more balanced stories.

Abstract

This study aims to describe a wealthy student’s habitus who does not get enough attention from parents but can make school achievements. Parents’ role is vital in children’s learning development process and becomes an encouragement to increase children’s enthusiasm for learning. In this case, wealthy students with achievements are often seen as something normal. However, upper-class students who do not get enough attention from their parents because of being busy at work but can make achievements are exciting things to study, especially to observe the habitus that shapes them. This study uses a qualitative method with a life history approach. This study’s single informant is Maulana, a high school student in Cilacap city, Central Java Province, Indonesia. Selection of informant using a purposive sampling technique. The study results indicate that a separate living house forms the habitus of Maulana as an independent student. Independent, in this case, means that he has the initiative to learn without coercion. The achievements he made were a form of strategy to attract the attention of his parents. The achievements that are always compared to his older siblings have boosted Maulana’s enthusiasm to improve his achievements. In this case, the study results stated that the habitus is formed from the capital (social, economic, cultural, and symbolic) of the individual. Parents’ busyness is not a problem in getting their performance at school.

Abstract

This study examines the social capital of impoverished students who possess limited economic resources. To thrive in school, these students heavily rely on strong social capital. Social capital is crucial for impoverished students as it enables them to interact effectively with teachers and peers. The study was conducted in four high schools located in Temanggung, Cilacap, Purbalingga, and Kebumen Regencies, Central Java Province, Indonesia. The study respondents were students from impoverished families, selected through a simple random sampling method, comprising 30% of the impoverished students in those schools. The findings revealed that a significant majority of the respondents exhibited high social capital. This was evidenced by the extent of their social networks, which encompassed close relationships with peers from both their own and other schools. Consequently, they felt accepted and integrated within their social groups. Furthermore, these students adhered to prevailing social norms within their school and peer circles, further facilitating their acceptance. Impoverished students also managed to gain the trust of both their friends and teachers. This was exemplified by their frequent involvement in assisting classmates with school assignments. However, despite possessing these positive social attributes, they were rarely allowed to hold specific positions within the class or organizational structures. Additionally, they were seldom selected to represent the school in various competitions.

Abstract

Health issues are still a major problem all over the world. Health issues include the quality of health services and issues of social inequality in the provision of health facilities. Some people who suffer from health complaints have difficulty accessing health care, one of them on the outpatient health facility. The availability of health care facilities affects people's decision to do treatment when they are get sick. The study aims to analyze factors that influence the population's decision not to take medication when ill, such as: poverty levels, education levels, and the number of health facilities. This research uses methods of quantitative secondary data analysis. Data obtained from BPS in 2023. Data analyzed using product moment correlation calculations. The variables analyzed are the percentage of the population that has health complaints and does not take medication (Y); the percent of the poor population (X1); the level of education (X2); the proportion of the number of health facilities (X3). Based on the results of the study, the ratio of the percentage of the poor population with the main reason not taking medication because there are no transportation costs is significant. The ratio between the percentage of the poor population with the main reason not taking medication because there is no transportation facilities is significant. Abstract

This research aims to describe the perceptions of the Sukacita Village community regarding the implementation of gusaran. Gusaran is a tradition of filing girls' teeth to mark the transition from childhood to adulthood. This research uses qualitative methods. Data collection methods include observation, interviews and documentation. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques use interactive analysis methods including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that there are people who have various meanings regarding perceptions so that there are some community groups who still implement them and there are also those who do not. Some people still carry out gusaran because they think that gusaran is a hereditary tradition that has existed since the time of their ancestors which must be guarded and preserved so that it does not disappear. Meanwhile, some people think that anger is no longer relevant in the current era of modernization because there has been a change in mindset among people who no longer believe in existing myths.

Abstract

Artikel ini menggambarkan permasalahan dalam keluarga yang diceritakan dalam tayangan sinetron Kisah Nyata di platform Vidio channel Indosiar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi, mengategorikan, dan menganalisis permasalahan dalam keluarga yang muncul dalam sinetron tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis isi berbasis data kuantitatif. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tayangan Kisah Nyata yang diunggah dalam platform Vidio sebagai sumber data dan jumlah sampel yang diteliti sebanyak 97 episode. Terdapat beberapa variabel yang dianalisis yaitu faktor pemicu permasalahan, pihak yang terlibat, penyelesaian, dan dampak permasalahan dalam keluarga. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecenderungan permasalahan yang terjadi dalam keluarga lebih banyak dipicu oleh orang ketiga/perselingkuhan, faktor ekonomi, faktor kepercayaan antarpasangan dan kehilangan suami/istri. Pihak yang paling banyak terlibat dalam permasalahan keluarga adalah suami dan istri daripada anggota keluarga yang lain. Kemudian perceraian sebagai penyelesaian permasalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan. Selain itu, dampak yang sering timbul akibat permasalahan dalam keluarga adalah keretakan dalam rumah tangga.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the interest of native Banyumas Unsoed students in using Banyumas language in daily conversation. The use of Banyumasan language among students is one of the cultural aspects that has experienced changes or influences from transcultural flows among Unsoed students. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques using interviews and observations. The informants of this research are Unsoed students who come from Banyumas and Unsoed students who come from outside Banyumas. The results showed that native Banyumas students at Unsoed rarely use Banyumas language in daily conversation when they interact with fellow native Banyumas students. They reason that they are not used to using Banyumas language. They are embarrassed to use Banyumas language because of its cablaka character and loud tone. In addition, there is also the influence of the use of slang from Jabodetabek students when interacting. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan minat mahasiswa Unsoed asli Banyumas menggunakan bahasa Banyumas dalam percakapan sehari-hari. Penggunaan bahasa Banyumasan di kalangan mahasiswa menjadi salah satu aspek budaya yang mengalami perubahan atau pengaruh dari arus transkultural di kalangan mahasiswa Unsoed. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan observasi. Informan penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Unsoed yang berasal dari Banyumas dan mahasiswa Unsoed yang berasal dari luar Banyumas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa asli Banyumas di Unsoed jarang menggunakan bahasa Banyumas dalam percakapan sehari-hari ketika mereka berinteraksi dengan sesama mahasiswa asli Banyumas. Mereka beralasan bahwa tidak terbiasa menggunakan bahasa Banyumas. Mereka malu untuk menggunakan bahasa Banyumas karena karakter bahasanya yang bersifat cablaka dan bernada keras. Selain itu juga terdapat pengaruh penggunaan bahasa gaul dari mahasiswa Jabodetabek ketika berinteraksi.

Abstract

Cartoon films are one of the media that can describe children's daily lives. This can be shown through various activities and behaviors of children shown in several series of cartoon films. Children's lives are closely related to the setting or background of the surrounding social environment. This study describes the representation of children's behavior in the Shinchan, Upin Ipin, and Omar Hana cartoon series. This research uses quantitative content analysis method. The objects studied are scenes in Shinchan, Upin Ipin and Omar Hana cartoons. The variables operationalized in this study are children's daily activities, parents' interactions with children, children's behavior, and the problems faced by children described in the three films. most of the children's activities that are often described in the film are playing outside the home. Most of the children's interactions with parents represented in Shinchan, Upin Ipin and Omar Hana cartoons are chatting with parents. Most of the children's behavior represented in Shinchan, Upin Ipin and Omar Hana cartoons is obedient to parents. Most of the children's problems represented in Shinchan, Upin Ipin and Omar Hana cartoons arise because the child's wishes are not fulfilled. Abstract Film kartun menjadi salah satu media yang dapat menggambarkan kehidupan anak sehari-hari. Hal ini dapat ditunjukkan melalui berbagai aktivitas dan perilaku anak yang ditampilkan pada beberapa seri film kartun. Kehidupan anak berkaitan erat dengan setting atau latar lingkungan sosial di sekitarnya. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan representasi perilaku anak dalam serial kartun Shinchan, Upin Ipin, dan Omar Hana. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis isi kuantitatif. Objek yang diteliti adalah adegan-adegan dalam film kartun Shinchan, Upin Ipin dan Omar Hana. Variabel yang dioperasionalkan dalam penelitian ini adalah aktivitas keseharian anak, interaksi orang tua dengan anak, perilaku anak, dan masalah yang dihadapi anak yang digambarkan dalam ketiga film tersebut. sebagian besar aktivitas anak  yang sering digambarkan dalam film tersebut adalah bermain di luar rumah. Sebagian besar interaksi anak dengan orang tua yang direpresentasikan dalam kartun Shinchan, Upin Ipin dan Omar Hana yaitu mengobrol bersama orang tua. Sebagian besar perilaku anak yang direpresentasikan dalam kartun Shinchan, Upin Ipin dan Omar Hana yaitu patuh kepada orang tua. Sebagian besar masalah anak yang direpresentasikan dalam kartun Shinchan, Upin Ipin dan Omar Hana muncul karena keinginan anak tidak terpenuhi.

Abstract

This study explains the relationship between peer interaction and religiosity level with student achievement motivation. This research was conducted using the survey method at SMA Negeri 1 Wangon. The population of this study were X and XI grade students totalling 715 students. Sampling using simple random sampling technique. The number of samples in this study were 392 students (52% of the total population). The results showed that the correlation value of Kendall's tau on the peer interaction variable was 0.270 with a significance value of 0.05. While the level of religiosity variable shows the correlation value of Kendall's tau of 0.315 with a significance value of 0.05. Based on the results of the study, there is a positive relationship between peer interaction and achievement motivation and a positive relationship between religiosity level and achievement motivation. Students‘ social interactions with peers can increase students achievement motivation. Peers provide social support to students to achieve, thus encouraging students to increase their achievement motivation. Meanwhile, the level of religiosity can also increase students' achievement motivation. Religiosity that provides positive values for students can increase student achievement motivation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menjelaskan hubungan persepsi peran gender dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif berupa survei di salah satu SMA di Banyumas, Jawa Tengah. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 715 siswa. Teknik sampel yang digunakan yaitu teknik simple random sampling dengan jumlah sampel yaitu 392 siswa. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan kolerasi tau kendall b. Hasil penelitian tidak terdapat hubungan yang positif antara persepsi peran gender dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa. Nilai p value atau signifikasi sebesar 0,162 menunjukkan bahwa hubungan kedua variabel tersebut tidak signifikan, karena p value 0,162 > α -0,071 pada taraf signifikasi 99% (0,01). Hal tersebut dapat terjadi karena peran sosialisasi di sekolah memperlakukan semua siswa sama tanpa memandang persepsi peran gender, sehingga siswa tertanam kesetaraan gender bahwa setiap siswa memiliki kesempatan yang sama untuk berprestasi.
