Abstract

This research analyzes the Multicultural Islamic Religious Education Learning (MIREL) at SMKN 1 Poso in building religious harmony as a conflict resolution. Conflict socio-religious become a critical problem regarding diversity in schools and society. Meanwhile, Islamic religious education provided in schools does not prioritize a multicultural perspective, which includes the practices of different religions and other cultures. This study uses qualitative field research with a case study approach and data analysis, according to Miles and Huberman. Results show that this school carries out the MIREL formally-textual and informally-textual. Learning formally-textual is held through three stages. At the beginning stage, teachers contextualize the values of example and self-control through exemplary stories from the prophets. In the main stage, the teachers integrate the values of tolerance, harmony, democracy, unity, concern, and justice by presenting material that includes faith, morals, jurisprudence, and the history of Islamic culture. Teachers instill multicultural values of cooperation and responsibility in the closing stage by assigning group tasks. The school holds informally textual learning through the Religious Saturday program collaboration in cross-cultural, socio-religious, and humanitarian activities. This research has implications for strengthening the MIREL in schools to build sustainable religious harmony among students and society in the post-conflict area.

Abstract

The social changes of the Palu community after the 2018 disaster affected the values, attitudes, behaviors, and perspectives of some religious groups in society, which in turn forced the Balia tradition to transform as an adaptive step. This qualitative research aims to find the transformation of Balia by using an ethnographic approach. The research location was in the cities of Palu and Sigi. The sample was determined twice using the snowball technique and convenience sampling, which resulted in five respondents. Data was collected using depth interviews and analyzed using triangulation. This study found that Balia has transformed into a new form adapted to the community's needs and demands, called Sakaya. The term Sakaya is intended for someone who can be a medium or a means of communication with supernatural beings. Sakaya is not a colossal ritual but a personal ritual. The transformation occurs in the second aspect of Balia and does not leave the primary aspect. As a result, these rituals have become more effective, efficient, inexpensive, and easily accessible to the public. Another finding of this research is that the function of the Sakaya is extended beyond Balia, which includes economic, social, and political aspects, which makes it more acceptable in the social life of the Kaili tribal community.

Abstract

This study examines the spiritual base of Pesantren, which is essential in building multicultural awareness. In Indonesia, Pesantren is an Islamic religious education institution emphasizing spirituality's importance. Pesantren is also closely related to various social and religious aspects. This study aims to find a spiritual base and its utilization in building multicultural awareness. This research uses a phenomenological qualitative study with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research was conducted for 1.5 years, from 2018-2019. Observations were made for a week every month. Interviews were conducted with 16 informants at site A and 13 at site B. Data analysis used a constant comparative model. From the results of the study, there are several significant findings: 1) Kiai's view of the spirituality of Islamic boarding schools related to multiculturalism is based on the monotheism of humanity; 2) Pesantrens have spiritual capital that comes from Sufistic teachings (Sufism) and interacts spirally with multiculturalism; 3) multicultural values are born from spiritual values that are grown and summarised in three categories of values, namely fundamental values, personal values , and social values; and 4) spiritual-multicultural interactions that continue to make students more multicultural competent. Multicultural awareness built through intense spirituality can birth "selfless multiculturalism"; an authentic multicultural attitude.

Abstract

Changes in the Islamic Religious Education curriculum are undeniable in Indonesia. The changes are in line with the development of the national curriculum in general. There are many articles about the development of the Islamic Religious Education curriculum in Indonesia, but all of them are protracted on the development of the national curriculum in general. This article aims to describe the characteristics of Islamic Religious Education in particular that have not been touched upon by previous articles. This literature research was carried out by reviewing articles and books on the development of the national curriculum and specifically about the Islamic Religious Education curriculum. Triangulation is carried out between one reference and another, classified according to sub-subjects, and finally conclusions are drawn. The results of the study show that there are five periods of changes in the Islamic Religious Education curriculum, namely the Pre-Independence Era when Islamic Religious Education materials were not found in schools, the ‘Orde Lama’ Era Islamic Religious Education lessons were optional at the request of the students' parents, the ‘Orde Baru’ Era Islamic Religious Education lessons gained a proportional position and portion, the Reform Era did not change but the forerunners of change were quite visible. In the New Indonesia era, the change in the Islamic Religious Education curriculum was very dynamic and this lesson became the spirit of all other subjects in K.13.
