Abstract

Repellency of celery essential oil (Apium graveolens L.) against Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in the laboratory. Essential oil is one of the ingredients that has repellent ability to herbivorous insects. Celery is one of plants containing essential oil which may also have the repellent ability. This study was aimed to determine the differences in the repellent ability of celery essential oils compounds that were taken from 3 different locations against S. frugiperda in the laboratory. This research was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor was the origin of the celery plants (Malang, Surabaya, and Lamongan) and the second factor was the concentration level of essential oils (1000, 2000, and 3000 ppm) which was repeated three times. The reliability test was carried out using filter paper method. The results showed that the essential oil extracted from celery originated from Malang with 3000 ppm concentration had the highest percentage level of repellency (level 5) that reached 93.33% of repellency. Location and concentration factors had no different effect on S. frugiperda larvae repellency. There was no correlation between location and concentration on the repellency of S. frugiperda larvae.

Abstract

Sampah organik merupakan salah satu sampah yang selalu dihasilkan oleh rumah tangga. Bagi sebagian masyarakat, termasuk di Desa Dadapan, Kabupaten Lamongan, belum ada upaya mengurangi jumlah sampah organik. Sampah hanya dikumpulkan kemudian akan dijadikan satu di Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA). Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya kegiatan yang berfokus pada pengelolaan sampah organik menjadi produk yang lebih bermanfaat, salah satunya adalah eco-enzyme. Kegiatan ini diinisiasi pada ibu-ibu di Desa Dadapan pada tanggal 28 Oktober 2023. Kegiatan dimulai dengan persiapan, sosialisasi dengan metode ceramah tentang eco-enzyme, praktik langsung, dan evaluasi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan agar masyarakat dapat mengelola sampah yang dihasilkan secara mandiri bahkan dapat memberikan nilai tambah secara ekonomi. Hasil praktik pembuatan eco-enzyme telah dimanfaatkan untuk pupuk dan pestisida nabati tanaman yang dibudidayakan di pekarangan rumah. Masyarakat Desa Dadapan merasakan kebermanfaatan dari kegiatan ini dan berharap ada kegiatan lanjutan untuk menambah pengetahuan terutama untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada di sekitar mereka. Organic waste is one of the wastes always produced by households. For some communities, including Dadapan Village, there has been no effort to reduce the amount of organic waste. The waste is only collected at the Final Disposal Site (TPA). Therefore, there is a need for activities that focus on managing organic waste into more useful products, one of which is eco-enzyme. This activity was initiated among women in Dadapan Village on October 28, 2023. The activity began with preparation, socialization using lecture methods about eco-enzymes, direct practice, and evaluation. This activity aims to enable the community to manage the waste they produce independently and even provide added economic value. The resulting activity of making eco-enzymes has been used for fertilizer and pesticides for plants cultivated in home gardens. Dadapan Village citizens feel the benefits of this activity and hope there will be further activities to increase their knowledge, especially to solve the problems around them.

Abstract

Ajung Village is one of the villages in Jember where the majority are farmers and generally depend on obtaining chemical fertilizers. On the other hand, there are youth who are members of Karang Taruna Persada Muda who have the potential to be developed through various activities, considering that currently, their activities are incidental. Therefore, training in making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) is a useful activity for developing youth and the resulting product can reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. The methods used in this training activity are delivery of material and discussion, direct practice, and evaluation through questionnaires (pre and post-test). The evaluation results show that the making of LOF training increased the knowledge and insight of Karang Taruna youth in Ajung Village. It is hoped that in the future further training will be provided regarding marketing and manufacturing of other agricultural products.

Abstract

Peningkatan produksi kacang tanah dilakukan melalui aplikasi Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) Limbah Tahu yang dapat memberikan unsur hara dan nutrisi yang dibutuhkan oleh tanaman kacang tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui respon pertumbuhan dan hasil produksi kacang tanah melalui pengaplikasian POC Limbah Tahu. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan pertanian Desa Antirogo Kabupaten Jember pada bulan Agustus 2023 sampai bulan Desember 2023. Menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non faktorial dengan 6 taraf perlakuan: Pupuk anorganik 100% (kontrol), Pupuk anorganik 50%, POC 325 ml/liter dan Pupuk anorganik 50%, POC 350 ml/liter dan Pupuk anorganik 50%, POC 375 ml/liter dan Pupuk anorganik 50%, POC 400 ml/liter dan Pupuk anorganik 50%. Penelitian ini menunjukkan perlakuan POC limbah tahu konsentrasi 375 ml/liter pengaruh berbeda nyata pada jumlah polong cipo per sampel, jumlah polong bernas per sampel, berat polong basah beranas per sampel, berat polong kering bernas per sampel dan berat biji kering per sampel.

Abstract

Diversity and abundance of macrozoobentos in Puteri Beach Sidokelar Lamongan. Macrozoobenthos are organisms that live on the bottom of waters, and are part of the food chain whose existence depends on the population of organisms at lower levels. This study aims to analyze the diversity of macrozoobenthos found on the coast of Puteri, Sidokelar Village, Lamongan Regency. Macrozoobenthic sampling using the transect method measuring 5 mx 5 m. The identification of this sample was carried out at the Biology Laboratory. Billfath University Lamongan using journa  literature. The results of the study found 5 types of animals consisting of 4 types from the gastropod class 1 type from the class Bivalvia. Types of Cerithidea cingulata were the most common, with as many as 20 individuals. The least type was Gafrarium pectinatum which was found only in 1 individual. Diversity index (H ') in a moderate coastal ecosystem. The community is in a state of moderate stability or diversity with the number of individuals for each species is not uniform but no one is dominant (1 <H '<3).

Abstract

Termite symbiotic bacteria have potential as a biological agent that has not been extensively researched. This research aims to uncover the potential of termite symbiotic bacteria as a biological agent against the damping off disease (Sclerotium rolfsii) in soybean plants. The research was conducted in the plant protection laboratory, biosciences laboratory, and innovation garden of Jember State Polytechnic over 4 months. The study was designed based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments, each repeated 4 times. The treatments included: P1 pathogenic fungus as control, P2-P4 pathogen with termite symbiotic bacteria with the highest inhibition percentage, and P6 pathogen S. rolfsii. The stages of the research began with the Isolation of Termite Symbiotic Bacteria, Antagonistic Screening Test, Hypersensitivity Test, and In Vitro Antagonistic Test. From the results of testing four isolates, the ability to inhibit the pathogen S. rolfsii was observed. These isolates are IR1A1, IR1A4, IR1A6, and IR4D2. The effectiveness of inhibiting S. rolfsii ranged from 28.97% to 95.79% in vitro. The most effective bacterial isolate in suppressing the pathogen and capable of surpassing fungicide treatment is isolated IR1A6, which has an inhibition rate of up to 95.79%.

Abstract

Desa Glagahwero, yang terletak di Kecamatan Kalisat, Kabupaten Jember, memiliki potensi sumber daya alam dan budaya yang kaya untuk dikembangkan sebagai desa agroeduwisata. Namun, belum adanya pemetaan potensi secara sistematis menjadi hambatan utama dalam pengembangannya. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendampingi masyarakat dalam memetakan potensi desa melalui pendekatan permakultur yang berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi partisipatif, sosialisasi dan integrasi potensi desa baik aktual maupun potensial. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat mampu mengidentifikasi potensi ekologis, sosial, dan ekonomi lokal secara mandiri. Selain itu, pemahaman masyarakat terhadap konsep permakultur meningkat, dan terbentuknya rencana pengembangan desa agroeduwisata berbasis lokal. Kegiatan ini memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap perencanaan pembangunan desa yang berkelanjutan dan berbasis pemberdayaan Masyarakat.

Abstract

Urban communities are generally communities that have homes with limited agricultural land. PKK RW 27 Tegal Boto Lor, Sumbersari District, Jember Regency, East Java has tried to utilize limited land for agricultural activities by planting trees and ornamental plants on the side of the road. Based on this, the Community Service Implementation Team helped provide innovation by introducing the application of the urban farming concept through wall gardening. The method used is through education and soft skill training with the aim of opening the community's insight and knowledge about the innovation of the urban farming concept through wall gardening activities. Based on the activities that have been carried out, there has been an increase in community knowledge with good criteria from 20% (pre-test) to 53.4% ​​(post-test).

Abstract

ABSTRAKBemisia tabaci adalah salah satu hama pada kedelai yang dapat menyebabkan penurunan produksi hingga 80%. Umumnya petani masih menggunakan insektisida sintetis yang menyebabkan hama resisten dan membunuh arthropoda menguntungkan. Perlu adanya alternatif insektisida yang aman bagi lingkungan maupun manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pengaruh aplikasi asap cair arang sekam (ACAS) padi pada populasi kutu kebul (Bemisia tabaci). Tiga jenis perlakuan yang digunakan adalah: G3: ACAS grade 3 konsentrasi 3%; G2: ACAS grade 2 konsentrasi 4%; dan IMI: insektisida sintetis berbahan aktif imidakloprid. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode perbandingan perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan diaplikasikan pada plot berukuran 20 m2. Data hasil pengamatan dianalisa menggunakan uji non parametrik Kruskal Wallis. Hasil pengamatan populasi B. tabaci pada semua jenis perlakuan mengalami peningkatan seiring bertambahnya umur tanaman dan mengalami penurunan mulai 52 HST selanjutnya semakin menurun hingga 59 HST. Populasi B. tabaci secara keseluruhan akibat aplikasi imidakloprid sebanyak 15.70 individu berbeda nyata jika dibanding dengan aplikasi ACAS grade 3 maupun grade 2. Asap cair arang sekam grade 3 konsentrasi 3% mengakibatkan populasi B. tabaci 28.94. Perlakuan ini lebih berpotensi menekan populasi B. tabaci dibanding ACAS grade 2 konsentrasi 4% yang menekan populasi B. tabaci menjadi 29.13. Kedua perlakuan ACAS tersebut masih kurang optimal jika dibandingkan insektisida sintetis berbahan aktif imidakloprid dalam menekan populasi B. tabaci pada tanaman kedelai edamame.ABSTRACTBemisia tabaci is a pest in soybeans that can cause a reduction in production of up to 80%. Generally, farmers still use synthetic insecticides which cause pest resistance and kill beneficial arthropods. There is a need for alternative insecticides that are safe for the environment and humans. This research aims to examine the effect of application of rice husk charcoal liquid smoke (ACAS) on whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) populations. The three types of treatment used are: G3: ACAS grade 3 concentration 3%; G2: ACAS grade 2 concentration 4%; and IMI: synthetic insecticide containing the active ingredient imidacloprid. This research uses a treatment comparison method. Each treatment was applied to a plot measuring 20 m2. Observation data were analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis non-parametric test. The results of observations of the B. tabaci population in all types of treatment increased as the age of the plant increased, and decreased starting at 52 HST and decreasing further until 59 HST. The overall population of B. tabaci due to imidacloprid application was 15.70 individuals, which was significantly different when compared to the application of ACAS grade 3 or grade 2. Liquid smoke from grade 3 husk charcoal with a concentration of 3% resulted in a B. tabaci population of 28.94. This treatment has more potential to suppress the B. tabaci population compared to ACAS grade 2 concentration 4% which suppresses the B. tabaci population to 29.13. These two ACAS treatments are still less than optimal compared to the synthetic insecticide containing the active ingredient imidacloprid in suppressing the B. tabaci population in edamame soybean plants. Keywords: bioinsecticide, GCMS, whitefly, liquid smoke, bemisia tabaci

Abstract

Sistem tanam monokultur yang umum diterapkan petani cenderung menurunkan kestabilan agroekosistem karena meningkatnya risiko serangan hama dan penyakit. Salah satu alternatifnya ialah sistem polikultur yang dapat memperkaya habitat bagi berbagai jenis artropoda, termasuk musuh alami hama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keanekaragaman artropoda pada berbagai kombinasi tanam jagung ketan dan kedelai edamame dengan tambahan tanaman border serai dan kemangi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada empat tipe lahan pertaniandi Kebonsari, Jember, Jawa Timur: 1) monokultur jagung ketan, 2) polikultur jagung ketan-edamame, (3) polikultur jagung ketan-edamame dengan border serai, dan 4) polikultur jagung ketan-edamame dengan border kemangi. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan pitfall trap, yellow trap, dan sweep net, sedangkan data dianalisis menggunakan indeks keanekaragaman (H'), kemerataan (E), dan dominasi (C). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan polikultur bersamaan dengan border tanaman aromatik terbukti meningkatkan keseimbangan komunitas arthropoda yang menguntungkan. Polikultur kemangi efektif meningkatkan parasitoid, sedangkan polikultur serai lebih optimal dalam meningkatkan predator dan penyerbuk.  The monoculture system commonly practiced by Indonesian farmers tends to reduce agroecosystem stability due to the higher risk of pest and disease. On the other hand, polyculture can provide a more diverse habitat that supports beneficial arthropods, including natural enemies. This study aimed to analyze the diversity of arthropods in various planting combinations of waxy maize and edamame with additional border plants of lemongrass and basil. The research was conducted from June to September 2024 in Kebonsari, Jember, East Java, using four treatments: (1) maize monoculture, (2) maize–edamame polyculture, (3) maize–edamame polyculture with lemongrass borders, and (4) maize–edamame polyculture with basil borders. Arthropod sampling was carried out using pitfall traps, yellow traps, and sweep nets, and data were analyzed using the diversity index (H'), evenness index (E), and dominance index (C). The results showed that the polyculture combined with aromatic plants as a border effectively enhanced the balance of beneficial arthropod communities. Polyculture with basil effective in increasing parasitoid abundance, while polyculture with lemongrass is more optimal in increasing predators and pollinators.
