Abstract

In the Millennial era, there's been a positive response to the comprehensive diversification of educational partnerships, especially in the realm of multicultural Islamic education, garnering significant attention. Haedar Nashir's scholarly address at the 48th Mukhtamar of Muhammadiyah in UMS Surakarta effectively illustrates the emergence of a uniform educational framework, rich in intricacies, opening up new avenues in Islamic education. This qualitative and descriptive research addresses the ongoing debates surrounding Islamic education in Indonesia by suggesting pertinent Islamic-centered alternative approaches within the contemporary landscape. By utilizing a systematic review methodology and content analysis, this study highlights various facets of life and learning, encompassing methodologies, techniques, information propagation, educational administration, and the role of social media. Despite the primary emphasis and requirements set by Kemdikbud and Kemenag to achieve an enlightened Islamic education, the current state of Islamic education in Indonesia seems stagnant. The proliferation of educational partnerships extends broadly across diverse educational establishments, both formal and Islamic boarding schools. To notably elevate the quality of education, the researchers propose significant alternatives rooted in neuroscience, religious moderation, and knowledge management within Islamic education. The implications and contributions of this study aspire to enhance Islamic education and advance study-based learning in Islam, with the aim of captivating the attention of younger generations, notably millennials and Generation Z, within the realm of Society 5.0. This research is expected to serve as a platform and pivotal milestone in realizing a progressive and flourishing Islamic civilization in the forthcoming times.

Abstract

The realm of hadith has evolved and expanded to encompass not only the term "hadith" but also "sunnah," "khabar," and "atsar." These four terms, while sharing some similarities, also hold distinct meanings. It is crucial to clarify their significance within each context to avoid confusion and misinterpretation. Hadith, as a concept, contains al-Khabar (information) derived from the al-Kalam (sayings) of the Prophet, which is jadid (new) when compared to al-Kalam of Allah (the Quran). On the other hand, "sunnah" denotes the way, method, or path. Originally, it referred to the path established and followed by previous generations, becoming a guiding route for those who follow. Scholars from different disciplines define hadith in alignment with their specific scientific fields. For instance, Ushul fiqh experts identify sunnah as everything derived from the Prophet (apart from the Quran), including words, deeds, and provisions that serve as justifications for Syara` law. Reviewing hadith and its miraculous aspects becomes essential to counter erroneous perceptions and logically demonstrate its miracles. In the contemporary era, the study of hadith and sunnah not only emphasizes the quality of narrators but also the quantity to foster a comprehensive understanding. This abstract seeks to shed light on the terminological nuances of hadith, sunnah, khabar, and atsar, ensuring clarity and precision in their interpretations. Furthermore, it highlights the significance of examining the miraculous aspects of hadith and its relevance in contemporary scholarship, providing a holistic perspective that enriches the understanding of these essential sources of Islamic guidance.

Abstract

This was motivated by the launch of the religious moderation policy by the Minister of Religion Gus Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, as well as the implementation of the independent curriculum policy, the Merdeka campus, and the driving school by Nadiem Makarim (Minister of Education and Culture). Indonesia is experiencing significant development and dynamics of change. According to online news, and reference research from Google Scholar, and Scientific Direct, data on Islamic boarding school learning and education is very high. However, on the other hand, 80% of the education in Islamic boarding schools or non-formal institutions has decreased. This study aims to increase religious moderation in Madura Islamic boarding schools, in learning Arabic, the yellow book, and ta'limu' mutaallim culture with a knowledge management approach. Naturalization in this research is based on a qualitative descriptive case study in a Madura Islamic boarding school. This means that researchers are dealing directly (directly) with the research location, with the methods of interview, observation, and documentation. The subjects of this study consisted of clerics, ustadz, policymakers (community leaders), and students. For this reason, that research is more objective, credible, and reliable. The data analysis technique used is based on Miles and Huberman's research theory. Namely data display, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The analytical knife is strengthened by triangulation techniques, namely researchers in processing and analyzing data until they are saturated (perfect). The results of this study describe the concept of religious moderation that needs to be introduced and conveyed to the Madurese community, especially the santri. With a knowledge management approach (knowledge management), namely implementing mufradat and fasohah literature related to religious moderation. Among them, students are given insight, counseling guidance, and spiritual moderation (wasatiyah). The Ustadz are at the facility by participating in comparative studies, workshops, strengthening education quality management, and training in Arabic learning. on the one hand, so that students can accept religious tolerance and moderation. Because basically in Madura it is very close and closely related to problems of understanding, for example between NU and Muhammadiyah, therefore one alternative is language Arabic learning based on religious moderation which is strengthened by knowledge management in the world of Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The Qur’anic tafsir (exegesis) has undergone changes over time, addressing issues from classical eras to current challenges faced by the Muslim community. Concerns have been raised about approaches that are overly literal or forceful in understanding the contexts of Qur’anic verses for application in the present time. Hence, there is a need to formulate a more profound effort to explore the meanings of the Qur’an to extract its messages and guidance. This involves understanding the contextual aspects of Qur’anic verses in terms of history and literal meanings, applying them to contemporary situations. However, as highlighted, there appears to be a gap between existing theories and their practical realities. This underscores the necessity for more careful and structured research to bridge the theoretical and practical aspects. The objective of this study is to analyze the contextualization of the Qur’an in the contemporary era, as pioneered by Abdullah Saeed. The study employed a qualitative method with an analytical study approach, utilizing literature review as the primary data collection method, drawing from Abdullah Saeed’s writings, journal articles, books, and relevant references. The findings revealed that Abdullah Saeed’s contextualization of the Qur’an is highly relevant in understanding verses that remain textual and challenging to interpret. With the evolution of the modern era, there is a need for reinterpretation, especially in the context of nation-building and culture. The local descent of Qur’anic revelations and the complexity of developments in the modern context necessitate a new understanding. The understanding sought in the current context is dynamic and can contribute to a more harmonious life. This points towards a new direction for humanity in the current millennial era.

Abstract

In the last few decades, especially after the fall of the New Order regime, the political constellation in Indonesia has been quite dynamic and tends to be populist. Many people consider that the populism aspirations of Muslims as the majority religion embraced by Indonesian citizens in several aspects of political life are experiencing a strengthening trend. One of the precedents that indicates the strengthening trend of Islamic populism is the case of blasphemy and the emergence of the 212 movement. This movement emerged after the 2017 DKI Jakarta election campaign where one of the candidate pairs at that time was suspected of insulting Islam by quoting Tarjamah Surah al-Maidah Verse 51 for pragmatic purposes of electoral politics. The question is, how do translation institutions in Indonesia that are considered authoritative translate this verse, especially the word "auliya". This study focuses its discussion on the presentation of tarjamah data for the word "Auliya'" which is contained in the work of Tarjamah Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia and Tarjamah Tafsiriyah M. Thalib. The results of this study indicate that the differences that occur between the translations of the two translations are very diametrical. The translation of the word "auliya'" in the Tarjamah M. Talib uses a more fundamental diction when compared to the tarjamah of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion. The Tarjamah Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia chose to use the term "friend". Tarjamah M. Talib prefers to use the term "leader".

Abstract

Abstract. Zakāh collection in Nitikan village of Yogyakarta has experienced an increase since 2017, which previously had been stagnant. This paper aims to investigate the current development of the zakāh collection in that area, as it represents Muhammadiyah's efforts in the religious philanthropic movement. T his is a qualitative study, with the data obtained from participatory observation and in-depth interviews with zakāh stakeholders. This study finds that the improvement of the zakāh collection has contributed to several factors. These include the role of ulama and Bapelurzam of Muhammadiyah, leading to the increasing trust of the people. This is strengthened by the changing paradigm of the muzakki regarding zakāh al-māl from merely gold and silver into any properties equal to niṣāb and has reached the haul; and the strong determination of mustaḥiq to transform themselves into muzakki.
