Abstract

Pesantren District is home to a large sugar factory. The presence of this sugar factory has environmental impacts, including its impact on the water environment. Groundwater is a major water source for hygiene and sanitation activities in Pesantren District. Groundwater resources are vulnerable during the transitional seasons. Rivers flowing from the factory, carrying materials, overflow and seep into the ground. Groundwater quality testing in Pesantren District was conducted by taking samples to a laboratory to determine the suitability of the water for hygiene and sanitation activities within the surrounding community. The test results examined physical, chemical, and biological parameters, in accordance with Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023. Several sampling points were found to contain parameters exceeding quality standards. The results of this activity recommend improving the quality of wastewater from the sugar factory and conducting regular water quality testing to ensure its suitability for public use.

Abstract

Air ballast yang digunakan kapal untuk menjaga stabilitas seringkali menjadi sumber pencemar serius bagi lingkungan perairan karena mengandung berbagai kontaminan, terutama Total Suspended Solid (TSS) dan logam berat Timbal (Pb). Kedua parameter ini berbahaya karena TSS meningkatkan kekeruhan dan menurunkan penetrasi cahaya bagi organisme akuatik, sedangkan Pb bersifat toksik dan dapat terakumulasi dalam rantai makanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas proses elektrokoagulasi dengan penambahan senyawa Hidrogen Peroksida (H2O2) dalam menurunkan konsentrasi TSS dan Pb pada air ballast. Metode penelitian dilakukan pada skala laboratorium menggunakan reaktor elektrokoagulasi berbahan elektroda aluminium dengan variasi dosis H2O2 (0, 9, 18, dan 27 gram), jarak antar elektroda (3 cm, 4 cm, 5 cm), serta waktu reaksi (30, 60, dan 90 menit). Parameter TSS dianalisis menggunakan metode gravimetri, sedangkan konsentrasi Pb diuji menggunakan Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan H2O2 memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap penurunan TSS. Efisiensi penyisihan meningkat dari 84,6% pada kondisi tanpa penambahan H2O2 hingga mencapai 98,9% pada dosis 27 gram. Untuk parameter Pb, penyisihan sudah sangat tinggi bahkan tanpa H2O2, dengan efisiensi mencapai 99,8%. Variasi jarak elektroda optimal diperoleh pada 5 cm, sedangkan waktu reaksi paling efektif adalah 90 menit. Secara keseluruhan, kombinasi elektrokoagulasi dan oksidasi H2O2 terbukti meningkatkan kinerja penurunan TSS secara signifikan, sedangkan untuk logam Pb, metode elektrokoagulasi saja sudah cukup efektif memenuhi baku mutu lingkungan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi alternatif teknologi pengolahan air ballast yang sederhana, efisien, dan ramah lingkungan untuk diaplikasikan pada industri perkapalan di Indonesia.

Abstract

PT PLN is one of the largest companies providing electricity services in Indonesia. PT PLN is responsible for electricity generation, transmission, and distribution activities throughout Indonesia. This includes providing all electricity-related needs to the community. One of the activities is maintenance work on substations and distribution networks. As the largest electricity company in Indonesia, occupational safety is something that needs to be considered in all its activities. HIRARC is one of the methods used to prevent work accidents. HIRARC is a method used to identify dangers from an activity in a systematic and structured manner that can cause risks and explains how to control risks so that they do not cause losses. There were 6 sources of danger and 9 risks in concrete substation maintenance work and 8 sources of danger and 11 risks in low-voltage network maintenance work. Risk assessments for both concrete substation maintenance work and low-voltage network maintenance found 3 categories of danger, namely moderate, high, and extreme. After implementing risk control, it was found that all types of work were in the low category. This shows that the HIRARC method is quite effective in applying substation and distribution network maintenance work at PT PLN UP3 Cengkareng.

Abstract

Juanda International Airport is an airport located in Sidoarjo, East Java Province and is one of 14 airports managed by PT. Angkasa Pura I. The operational activities of Juanda International Airport produce 1.120 /day wastewater. This study aims to determine the quality of wastewater after the treatment process and evaluate the performance of the STP (Sewage Treatment Plant). Evaluation of STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) performance is based on the existence of one unit that is not operating so that the wastewater produced can potentially not meet the predetermined quality standards. The evaluation is carried out by analyzing wastewater sample at the inlet and outlet, discharge and comparing parameter tes results with predetermined standards. The pramaters used as a reference are BOS, COD, TSS, Ammonia, and Total Coliform. The wastewater outlet produced by Juanda International Airport is in accordance with the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 68 of 2016 concerning Domestic Wastewater Quality Standards.
