Abstract

The incidence of reproductive tract infections (RTI) in adolescents around the world ranks between 35% and 42%. According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, as many as 5.2 million adolescents complain of itching in the genital region after menstruation, which is a result of poor personal hygiene during menstruation. This situation exists because the level of knowledge of adolescents is lacking, especially among those who have just experienced menstruation. Adolescents' lack of knowledge about personal hygiene is the leading cause of high cases of reproductive tract infections. This study aimed to determine the effect of educational videos about personal hygiene during menstruation on the level of knowledge in early adolescence. This type of research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental method and a one-group pre-test-post-test design. The population in this study were early adolescents in class VII at the Al Badriyyah Mranggen Islamic Boarding School who were already menstruating. The sampling technique used total sampling and obtained 47 female students. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out in terms of univariate and bivariate analysis (using the McNemar test with a p-value < 0.05). The results of this study showed that educational videos about personal hygiene during menstruation were affected by the level of knowledge in early adolescence, with a p-value of 0.001 < 0.05.

Abstract

Desa Getasan, with its diverse cultural heritage and geographic potential, has strategic opportunities to develop a creative economy based on local cultural wealth. However, this potential has not been fully utilized due to the low interest of younger generations in preserving local arts and the limitations in cultural organization management and governance. This situation forms the basis for this community service project. The aim of this initiative is to preserve local arts and support the development of local wisdom through a cultural and entrepreneurial approach in Desa Getasan. The research is conducted from July to October 2024 in four stages: (1) planning stage, (2) program implementation stage, (3) product development stage, and (4) program evaluation stage. The outcomes from the training and mentoring of youth art performers include the development of an E-Cultural Catalog website, an organizational management handbook, a Culturalpreneurship Business Plan book, and a village art expo video, which have had a positive impact on the partners in terms of increased knowledge and skills. This community service activity fosters awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage in the form of local arts

Abstract

Breast milk production is crucial for mothers to provide exclusive breast milk to their babies. Holistic care in midwifery offers an alternative or complementary approach to conventional medical treatment. It aimed to enhance the health of postpartum mothers through education and various health services, recognizing that health issues are not solely physical and can be addressed through non-medical interventions. This study investigated the impact of Hypnolactation and self-talk on breast milk production in postpartum mothers. The research utilized a quasi-experimental design, specifically, a pretest-posttest with a control group. The holistic care model implemented communication science techniques to promote relaxation, deep breathing, positive suggestions, and confidence building in postpartum mothers. The study was conducted in the Meteseh Boja Kendal village area from June to August 2023. The analysis employed paired testing, with a sample of 35 out of 42 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling. The results revealed that 100% of mothers who received Hypnolactation achieved sufficient breast milk levels, whereas 66.7% of those who practiced self-talk achieved the same, with 33.3% having inadequate levels. Hypnolactation demonstrated greater efficacy in enhancing breast milk production in the Meteseh Boja Kendal area. Applying hypnolactation and self-talk increased the secretion of endorphins, prolactin, and oxytocin, potentially influencing the mother's breastfeeding ability and the body's capacity to produce breast milk. Future research should consider using action research methods, expanding sample coverage over an extended period, and examining additional factors such as postpartum mothers' dietary intake.

Abstract

The knowledge of pregnant women about nutrition plays a crucial role in the utilization of food ingredients. One of the efforts to address stunting is by consuming foods that contain vitamin A, such as chicken liver. This correlational analytical study determined the correlation between pregnant women's knowledge of vitamin A and the use of chicken liver as a nutrient in stunting prevention with a retrospective approach. The population in this study consists of pregnant women in trimester I visiting the Kedungmundu Public Health Care, with a total of 70 people. The research instruments are a cognitive level questionnaire and a food frequency questionnaire. The analysis was the Spearman Rank correlation test. This study shows that pregnant women in the Kedungmundu Health Centre area did not take chicken liver as a source of nutrition for pregnant women in preventing stunting due to low cognition about vitamin A, with a p-value of 0.047 (p-value < 0.05), indicating a strong correlation between the level of knowledge about vitamin A and the administration of chicken liver as a source of nutrition for pregnant women in preventing childhood stunting, with a very strong correlation (r = 0.257). Health education and mass media encourage pregnant women to actively expand their knowledge. The researcher anticipates that a comprehensive understanding of vitamin A's benefits will spur a rise in chicken liver consumption, thereby contributing significantly to efforts to prevent stunting

Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, coughs and colds increase from 10% to 35.5%. Due to this situation, many mothers are still not fully aware of the proper handling of coughs and colds, which is further exacerbated by the issue of syrup medications containing ethylene glycol that exceed the safe dosage limits, potentially leading to kidney failure in infants. There are two types of cold treatments: pharmacological with oral medications such as powders and syrups, and non-pharmacological with common cold massage. Research objective: This quantitative research determined the effect of educational videos on common cold massage for infants on mothers' cognition and motivation in performing self-massage at the Mranggen I Public Health Care with a pre-experimental method and a one-group pre-test-post-test design. The population in this study consisted of mothers with children aged 4–12 months at the Mranggen I Public Health Care taken with a simple random sampling technique, resulting in 54 mothers. The applied instruments in this research were the Common Cold Cognition questionnaire and maternal motivation. The researchers analyzed the data using univariate and bivariate analysis, employing the Wilcoxon test to identify the non-normally distributed effect of video education on knowledge, and the paired t-test to evaluate its normal distribution effect on motivation. Research Results: Video education has an influence on mothers' cognition and motivation to perform self-massage at Mranggen I Public Health Center, with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusions and suggestions: Respondents, mothers with children aged 4–12 months at the Mranggen I public health care, had excellent knowledge (46.3%) and strong motivation (46.3%). The researcher expects that mothers in the Mranggen I public health care area will seek more information about common cold massages.

Abstract

Antenatal care is the midwifery care midwives provide to pregnant women before the baby's birth to ensure positive outcomes for both the mother and the baby. This care involves establishing a trusting relationship with the mother, detecting complications that could threaten life, preparing for the baby's birth, and providing health education for the mother. This descriptive study investigated pregnant mothers’ cognition of antenatal care at Midwifery Clinician Siti Nurjannah Ngemplak Demak by overviewing the object. This study's population consists of primigravida pregnant women in their third trimester taken with saturated sampling or total sampling, resulting in a sample of 40 primigravida pregnant women in their third trimester. The instruments used in this study include a questionnaire on pregnant mothers' cognition about antenatal care and the Maternal and Child Health (KIA) book for pregnant mothers. The researchers analyzed the data using univariate methods that include: the characteristics of pregnant women, knowledge of pregnant women about antenatal care, and the frequency of antenatal care visits. The research findings reveal that 20 respondents, or 50%, possess the majority of high school education characteristics. In terms of employment, 26 respondents, or 65%, are employed. Most respondents were aged 20–35 years. In terms of education level, they had an average level of cognition, with a frequency of 18 respondents (45%). When it comes to the frequency of visits by pregnant women, most respondents complied, with 26 respondents (65%) reporting a visit frequency. The research findings suggest that motivating pregnant women about the importance of knowledge and antenatal care visits is a recommended strategy.

Abstract

One way to prevent high-risk pregnancies is by addressing the lack of knowledge. The Pre-Experimental Design research aims to determine how high-risk pregnancy health education impacts pregnant women's knowledge about their condition, using a one-group pretest-posttest design. By providing books and videos once, this research conducted an intervention. Data was collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The total sampling method was used to collect 45 respondents. The results of the data analysis indicate that the normality test before and after the intervention showed that the data is not normally distributed with a significance of 0.00 ≤ 0.05. To test the research hypothesis, the Wilcoxon test was used, and the results showed that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000 ≤ 0.05, which indicates that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that health education on high-risk pregnancy shows that health institutions should implement and provide health education about high-risk pregnancy to patients who are already aware as well as those who are not. This will help pregnant women become more informed and reduce the number of high-risk pregnancies.

Abstract

It is estimated that 60% of deaths in pregnancy occur after delivery and 50% of deaths postpartum within the first 24 hours. After the baby is born, the uterus which during labor contracts and retracts will become hard so that it can close the large blood vessels that lead to the former implantation of the placenta. If the involution process does not go well, a condition called uterine sub involution will arise. If the sub involution of the uterus is not handled properly, it will result in bleeding, for that the mother needs certain exercises that can accelerate the process of involution. According to several studies, to speed up the process of uterine involution, one of the recommended exercises is postpartum gymnastics, an integration model of relaxation techniques and exercises for the 'Otaria' abdominis muscles. The purpose of this study was to determine whether postpartum exercise model integration of relaxation techniques and 'Otaria' abdominis muscle exercises had an effect on the speed of uterine involution in post partum mothers at PKM Sayung 2, Demak Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach, the method used in this study is a quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental. The design used in this study was Post-test Only Control Group Design. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. The results showed that respondents who did puerperal exercise 'otaria' experienced uterine involution faster than respondents who did postpartum exercise with a value of (p-value <0.05) at TFU and (p-value <0.05) at lochia. Abstract

The mortality causes of babies in Demak regency, in 2020, were low weight birth (43.87%), Asphyxia (16.9%), Tetanus Neonatorum (1%), and Sepsis (5.3%), and inherited abnormality (30.6%). The umbilical cord is a unique tissue and could be the infection source for newly born babies. Umbilical care becomes a behavioral realization that must be improved with excellent knowledge of taking care of the cord. This excellent behavior to take care of the cord could improve the behavior of taking care of the umbilical cord. Thus, the cord will be easily detached. Lack of adequate knowledge about umbilical cord will lead to incorrect administration of using traditional medicine which highly leads to neonates infection. This research determined the correlation between the mother's knowledge about the opened umbilical cord care and the detachment period of the umbilical cord. This analytic correlation research used a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of all mothers, 64 mothers, with an estimated period of birth from June to July 2022 in the working area of Sayung 1 Health Care, Demak Regency. The researchers analyzed the data with univariate and bivariate analyses. The results showed the correlation between the mother's knowledge and the opened umbilical cord during the detachment period. The obtained p-value was 0.000, lower than 0.05. Keywords: Mother knowledge, Opened umbilical cord care, Umbilical cord detachment

Abstract

Kata kunci : Ibu hamil, Genthle Birth, pemberdayaan kader   Abstract Gentlebirth is one way to prepare pregnant women during pregnancy. Gentlebirth not only views birthing mothers from a physiological perspective but views birthing mothers as clients holistically as biopsychosocial and cultural beings. Midwives' communication skills are absolutely necessary, the design of the practice area which is made to look like giving birth at home is what attracts clients (Kamalifard et al., 2017). Karang Ayu Health Center data shows that 65 pregnant women underwent a cesarean delivery process, whereas 62% of the number of births occurred. Achievement of Normal Delivery at Karang Ayu Community Health Center is still low. The low achievement of Gentle Birth delivery at the Karang Ayu Community Health Center is greatly influenced by the condition of mothers who work outside the home or work in an office which makes them unable to breastfeed their babies. Apart from that, mothers' knowledge of Gentle Birth Delivery still lacks understanding of the importance and benefits of Gentle Birth Delivery. The results of monitoring in the pregnant women's class, the cadres are able to provide counseling about Gentle Birth in order to increase the success of Gentle Birth and record the results according to the monitoring sheet provided. The follow-up plan is for Cadres to become the driving force for increasing the implementation of Gentle Birth deliveries in order to increase the success of Gentle Birth deliveries. Inviting the public to support Gentle Birth. Keywords: Pregnancy, Gentle birth, peoples
