Abstract

The ethics of muamalah is one of the fundamental pillars in the teachings of the Qur'an that regulates the economic, social, and moral relations of Muslims. In the modern context, global economic challenges, exploitative economic practices, and weakening social solidarity demand the actualization of the values of muamalah ethics as a foundation for strengthening the economy of the community, including within the Muhammadiyah community. This article aims to analyze the concept of muamalah ethics in the Qur'an and its relevance in strengthening the economy of Muhammadiyah members in a sustainable manner. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, accompanied by content analysis of the verses of the Qur'an related to muamalah, classical and contemporary interpretations, and scientific literature on Islamic economics and the Muhammadiyah economic movement. The results of the study indicate that the main principles of the ethics of muamalah in the Qur'an such as justice (al-'adl), honesty (al-shidq), trustworthiness, the prohibition of usury, gharar, and exploitation, as well as encouragement of productive work and equitable distribution have strategic relevance in building the economic independence of Muhammadiyah members. Implementing these values can strengthen an entrepreneurial ethos, increase social trust, and build an inclusive and equitable community economic system. Theoretically, this article contributes to the development of contextual Islamic economic ethics studies, while practically providing a normative framework for strengthening the economy of Muhammadiyah members based on Qur'anic values.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the concept of tajdid in Muhammadiyah education and formulate a model of curriculum reconstruction based on values. The change in the curriculum in Muhammadiyah reflects the tendency to adopt a technocratic national curriculum. This study uses a qualitative approach with a conceptual-critical study design combined with historical and philosophical studies. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative content analysis and thematic analysis sourced from books, articles from SINTA-indexed national journals. 1. Muhammadiyah education is expected not to be closed to change, but still maintain its identity and basic values that are its characteristics. 2. Muhammadiyah education functions as a strategic instrument for the formation of a progressive Muslim generation with character. 3. The reconstruction of this curriculum is a strategic step to maintain the quality, competitiveness, and uniqueness of Muhammadiyah education in the midst of the dynamics of national and global education. These findings show that tajdid values in Muhammadiyah education are not just normative discourses, but must be the main paradigm in curriculum development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of internalization of Islamic and Muhammadiyah values in Muhammadiyah's educational philosophy and explain its implications for student character formation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, which is sourced from scientific literature, reference books, and official Muhammadiyah normative documents relevant to the research theme. The data analysis technique is carried out through content analysis by systematically examining the concepts of values, internalization, and character formation from the perspective of Muhammadiyah's educational philosophy. The results of the study indicate that Islamic and Muhammadiyah values are the philosophical foundation of Muhammadiyah education that includes theological, ethical, and social dimensions. The process of internalization of values is understood as a systemic and sustainable pedagogical mechanism, involving the integration of learning, role models, and value-based academic culture. This internalization has direct implications for the formation of integrative student character, which reflects faith, intellectuality, and social responsibility. Thus, Muhammadiyah education is directed not only at academic achievement, but also at the formation of student character with an Islamic and progressive personality in accordance with the ideals of Muhammadiyah's educational philosophy.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine the concept of successor generation education in Muhammadiyah thought as part of the tajdid movement and the project of modern Islamic civilization building. This research employs a library research approach with qualitative- interpretative analysis of primary and secondary sources, including official Muhammadiyah documents, works of prominent figures, and contemporary scholarly literature. Data analysis is conducted through content analysis with emphasis on thematic coding and conceptual reconstruction. The findings reveal that Muhammadiyah’s educational concept is holistic, integrative, and transformative, integrating the values of tawhid, rationality, morality, and social responsibility. Education is not merely understood as the transmission of knowledge, but as a systematic effort to shape faithful, knowledgeable, ethical, and socially responsible individuals who are capable of responding to global challenges. The novelty of this study lies in positioning successor education as Muhammadiyah’s long-term ideological and strategic vision oriented toward civilizational development rather than merely institutional practice. This study confirms that Muhammadiyah’s educational model has strong potential to serve as a reference for the development of progressive, moderate, and inclusive Islamic education.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of Muhammadiyah ideology in education governance and policy through organizational decisions, handling of Five Issues, and the practice of Muhammadiyah Khittah as a guideline for the movement. The ideology of Muhammadiyah not only functions as a system of theological ideas, but also as a normative and operational foundation that directs the implementation of Islamic education to progress. The approach of this research is qualitative descriptive with the method of literature study on official documents of Muhammadiyah, such as the Muhammadiyah Faith and Ideals of Life (MKCH), Muqaddimah of the Muhammadiyah Articles of Association (MADM), Khittah Muhammadiyah, as well as the decisions of the Congress related to the direction of organizational policies and educational development. The results of the study show that the ideology of Muhammadiyah is implemented applicatively in educational governance through organizational policies oriented towards the integration of faith, science, and charity. The Five Religions, Education, Economy, Politics, and Culture Issues function as a strategic framework in the development of Muhammadiyah education, while Khittah Muhammadiyah acts as a moral compass that keeps the implementation of education within the corridor of da'wah amar makruf nahi mungkar and independent of pragmatic interests.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze AIK as an ideological curriculum in Muhammadiyah higher education through the framework of critical analysis of das sollen and das sein. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research, with data sources in the form of official AIK documents, Muhammadiyah higher education curriculum, and relevant scientific literature that is analyzed through content analysis and critical approaches. The results of the study show that at the das solen level, AIK is formulated as an ideological curriculum that integrates theological, ethical, and intellectual dimensions in the mission of da'wah and tajdid of Muhammadiyah. However, at the water level level, the implementation of AIK still tends to be formalized, the dominance of textual and one-way pedagogical approaches, and the weak integration of AIK with the cross-disciplinary academic ecosystem. The gap between normative ideals and implementive realities is influenced by structural factors (pragmatic orientation of higher education, accreditation demands, academic competition) and cultural factors (academic culture that emphasizes technical achievements). This study concludes that strengthening AIK as an ideological curriculum requires systemic transformation that includes the repositioning of AIK as an educational paradigm, strengthening dialogical-reflective pedagogy, and integrating AIK values in institutional policies and campus culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic life in Muhammadiyah education, examine the utilization of digital technology in the learning process, and formulate strategies for integrating Islamic values and digital technology within the framework of Muhammadiyah’s progressive education in the digital era. This research employs a qualitative approach through a library research design with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected from relevant scholarly sources, including academic books, peer-reviewed journal articles, official Muhammadiyah documents, and educational policy reports, and were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis through stages of data reduction, thematic classification, conceptual synthesis, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Islamic life plays a central role as a normative and ethical foundation in Muhammadiyah education through the internalization of Islamic values in learning activities, religious habituation, and structured social engagement, which contribute to the strengthening of students’ religious character, discipline, and social awareness. In addition, the use of digital technology through e-learning platforms, educational applications, and interactive learning media has been shown to enhance learning effectiveness, quality, and student participation. The integration of Islamic life and digital technology within the curriculum of Muhammadiyah’s progressive education creates a balanced development of academic competence, digital literacy, and Islamic character formation, despite challenges related to infrastructure limitations, teachers’ digital competencies, and the potential misuse of technology. This study concludes that the systematic integration of Islamic values and digital technology represents a relevant and effective strategy for improving the quality of Muhammadiyah education in the digital era.
