Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of high participation of the younger generation as members of the KPPS in the 2024 Election in Kalirejo Village, Salaman District, Magelang Regency. This research uses a qualitative method. The results of the study show that the majority of the young generations participation as members of KPPS in Kalirejo Village is included in the type of participation compelled by socio-economic reasons. Then followed by spontaneous participation and induced participation. Other types of participation, such as participation compelled by custom/tradition only appear in a small percentage of the younger generation and are situational. Meanwhile, participation compelled by law can be said not to be found in the participation of the younger generation as members of KPPS in Kalirejo Village. The supporting factors for this participation are personal awareness or intrinsic motivation, support from other parties (extrinsic motivation), as well as the existence of financial incentives (honorarium) and the need for productive activities. Then, the inhibiting factors are lack of interest or political awareness, work constraints, obstacles to family licensing and having family members who cannot be abandoned, as well as incompatibility of educational qualifications.

Abstract

Background: The Indonesian government has exhibited a strong political commitment to the Free Nutritious Meals Program (locally known as MBG - Makan Bergizi Gratis), which targets the enhancement of nutrition, reduction of stunting, and stimulation of economic growth. Purpose: To investigate the impact of political commitment (expressed and institutional commitment) on the attitudes of beneficiary students in rural and small urban areas of Central Java. Methods: An explanatory quantitative survey was conducted with 413 junior and senior high school students who were beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals Program. Results: The findings reveal that political commitment positively influences the attitudes of the beneficiary students. Expressed commitment (β = 0.364, p < 0.001) and institutional commitment (β = 0.410, p < 0.001) exert a significant positive influence on student attitudes, with institutional commitment emerging as the predominant predictor. The model accounts for 48.5% of the variance in attitudes. Conclusion: Constant vocal support by political leaders, together with their specific policy, regulatory, and infrastructure plans, could develop a positive perception among beneficiaries. The research establishes political dedication as a factor that determines public perception of national programs, which affects rural and small urban communities. Implications: Policymakers should be advised to further fortify their verbal commitments by widely communicating their intent so that their program can be best understood. Institutional commitment must be strengthened to ensure the program’s sustainability and effectiveness. Further research applying a qualitative approach is recommended to obtain subjective perspectives and augment the understanding of social acceptance of the Free Nutritious Meal Program.

Abstract

The Bersemi Jambon Gesikan Climate Village is a popular location for the climate village program in Magelang City. The initiative and nomination status upgrade from the main category to Sustainable. Obstacles faced included limited enrichment of climate change adaptation and mitigation activities, administrative procedures, and strengthening community institutions. Mentoring focused on increasing the capacity of administrators through socialization of the legal basis, administrative procedures, education on public awareness and participation, filling out the national climate change control registry system, preparing a five-year work program, and producing a profile video. Implementation methods included socialization and direct mentoring, so that administrators and community members could plan, implement, monitor, and periodically evaluate the program independently. The success of this activity included an increase in the assessment score for the climate village program category with a score of 91.07, the realization of sustainable adaptation and  mitigation actions, institutional strengthening, the formation of a partnership network, and increased awareness of sustainable residential environments.

Abstract

Magelang Regency is a region with a high level of disaster vulnerability, as recorded by the Regional Disaster Management Agency in 2020-2024, showing several disasters that occurred, including landslides, earthquakes, extreme weather, building fires, forest fires, droughts, volcanic eruptions, and floods. This situation demands concrete steps in disaster mitigation, especially for vulnerable groups such as children. Children are not physically and mentally prepared to face disasters, and their knowledge of disaster risk reduction is still limited. Schools are strategic places to build preparedness while providing legal protection for children in emergency situations. This study aims to analyze the urgency of establishing disaster resilient schools as a mitigation strategy and analyze the concept of conservation based disaster resilient schools to realize legal protection from disaster risks in Magelang Regency. The research method used is empirical juridical research. The results of the research on the urgency of disaster resilient schools as disaster mitigation in Magelang Regency are seen from the aspect of Pancasila, especially the 5th principle. The sociological aspect is that there are 106 Elementary Schools and 21 Junior High Schools located in disaster prone zones, while legally supported by various regulations related to formulating disaster resilient schools. The concept of conservation based disaster resilient schools realizes legal protection from disaster risks in Magelang Regency, namely by integrating elements of legal protection and conservation principles to realize sustainable legal protection for all school residents in facing potential disasters in Magelang Regency. The conclusion of the study shows the urgency of having disaster resilient schools and the concept of conservation based disaster resilient schools that integrate legal protection as a guarantee of safety and sustainability of children's educational rights in disaster prone areas. Suggestions for the need a synergistic relationship between schools in Magelang Regency, the Magelang Regency Education Office, and the Magelang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency in the formation of conservation based disaster responsible schools as an effort to provide legal protection from disaster risks.
