Abstract

This research analyzes Indonesia's role in addressing the challenges of climate change from a foreign policy perspective, highlighting the factors that influence policy formation, the diplomacy strategies implemented, as well as their impact at the global level. With a comprehensive review, this research aims to provide insights into how Indonesia interacts with the international community in an effort to address the global environmental crisis. Through an exploration of the internal and external factors that influence foreign policy on climate change, the article identifies the challenges faced as well as the opportunities that exist for Indonesia to play a more active role in shaping the global environmental agenda. By highlighting Indonesia's contributions to climate change mitigation and adaptation as well as its environmental diplomacy efforts, this article provides a better understanding of the complex dynamics between Indonesia's foreign policy and climate change issues in the context of international relations.

Abstract

This research aims to identify flood-prone areas in West Sumatra Province using remote sensing data and Machine Learning-based Geographic Information System. By utilizing variables such as distance from the river, Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), elevation, Topographic Position Index (TPI), Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), and Rainfall Data, this research was conducted on the Google Earth Engine platform. This analysis method supports resource optimization, public education, increased environmental safety, and the development of new technologies and research. The results of the research are expected to assist in mitigation and adaptation to future flood disasters, as well as provide more accurate and comprehensive insights for local governments, disaster management agencies, and communities. With this approach, it is expected to reduce flood risk and increase community resilience to natural disasters.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the ability of Cellular Automata-Markov (CA-Markov) model in predicting the expansion of urban growth rate in Ambon, Indonesia, and Gaza Strip, Palestine. Using a literature study approach, this research collected and analyzed secondary data on land use change, population growth, and factors affecting urbanization in both regions. The results of the analysis show that the CA-Markov model has high accuracy in predicting land use change, and is able to describe the spatial dynamics of built-up land growth. This research emphasizes the importance of integrating environmental aspects in land use planning to achieve sustainable development. The findings are expected to provide useful recommendations for policy makers in managing urban growth, as well as enrich the literature on the application of the CA-Markov model in different contexts.
Spatial Analysis of the Suitability of Residential Area Development to the Regional Spatial Plan of Ambon City, Indonesia, Based on the Slope Factor Rakuasa, Heinrich; Viktor Vladimirovich Budnikov; Daniel Anthoni Sihasale

Abstract

This study examines the suitability of land for the development of residential areas in Ambon City, based on the slope factor. The methods used include spatial analysis by utilizing Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data and the Ambon City Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW), as well as satellite image interpretation to identify suitable and unsuitable areas for residential development. The results show that more than 56% of the total planned land area is in the highly suitable category, while areas with steep slopes have a high potential for landslide risk. The discussion emphasizes the importance of settlement development focusing on safe and suitable areas, and the need for strict regulations to protect communities from disaster risks. The findings provide a strong basis for policy makers to formulate spatial planning strategies that are sustainable and responsive to the geographical conditions of Ambon City.

Abstract

Tiakur City, the capital of Southwest Maluku Regency, has undergone significant physical development between 2015 and 2025, driven by population growth and economic activities. This study employs a quantitative approach using remote sensing technology with PlanetScope satellite imagery to analyze land cover changes. The analysis reveals an increase in built-up land area from 171.29 hectares (7.31%) in 2015 to 395.66 hectares (16.89%) in 2025, while non-built-up land experienced a decline. These findings indicate a rapid development rate and highlight the importance of sustainable spatial planning. In conclusion, understanding the patterns and intensity of land cover changes in Tiakur City is crucial for evaluating spatial planning policies and improving infrastructure development planning for the future.
