Abstract

Remote measurement is a trend that is in great demand today. The development of connected wheel motion experiment system with a remote laboratory is aimed at effectiveness in experimental activities. This research is based on the weaknesses of previous research that there is no login system, queuing system, and time limit for using the experimental system. Based on these weaknesses, this study provides a solution to the experimental system with a login system, queuing system, and time limit for using the device. The Design and Development (D&D) method is the method chosen in this study. From the data analysis it can be stated in general that there are two results in this study. The first result is the performance specification of the related wheel drive experimental system where the function of each component of the experimental system has a performance according to the function of each component. The second result is the accuracy and precision of the associated wheel motion experimental system. Accuracy results for concentric wheels, obtained an average accuracy of 97.19% and 98.23%. Accuracy for connected wheels to ropes obtained an average result of 98.28% and 98.98%. The results of the angular velocity precision test on concentric wheels obtained an average of 99.43% and 99.09%. The precision of the angular velocity obtained on the wheels connected by a rope is 99.68% and 97.78%

Abstract

Carbon monoxide (CO) gas cannot be detected by sight or smell but is highly detectable and is formed from incomplete combustion such as in motor vehicles. Currently monitoring CO gas levels and measurement data at any time cannot be accessed all the time. Therefore, a measuring instrument system with data storage is required. We developed an instrument to measure CO gas levels in the air. The system developed uses the MQ-7 and ESP8266 sensors to produce a CO gas level measurement device with Cloud Storage. This research is a type of engineering research. The measurement technique used is a direct and indirect measurement. The direct measurement technique is done by comparing CO level data from standard tools with measuring instruments. Indirect measurement techniques are carried out by analyzing the data. Based on the research objectives, the specifications of the work tools are the average accuracy percentage of 97.27%, and the precision of 97.31%. Based on these result, the CO gas level measuring tool has a measurement accuracy and precision of close to 100%. So it is concluded that the CO level measuring tool can work properly

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of an ethnobiology learning model based on design thinking on students' critical thinking skills. The research is a type of quasi-experimental research with a randomized control group pretest-postest design. The population of this study came from SMA Negeri 12 Kerinci. The research sample came from two classes, namely class XI MIPA (experimental class) and class MIPA 3 (control class) totaling 42 students. The experimental class group used the ethnobiology learning model while the control class group used the conventional learning model. The sampling technique is random sampling. The research instrument was an objective test of critical thinking skills. Data analysis was quantitative statistical analysis with the help of SPSS version 26. The results of this study showed that the average value of posttest and N-gain critical thinking skills of classes that obtained ethnobiology learning based on design thinking was better than classes that used conventional learning. The t-test results show that the ethnobiology learning model based on design thinking has an effect on critical thinking skills sig. < 0.05 (0.00 < 0.05). Students' thinking skills in the experimental class obtained an average score of 82.30 with an N-gain value of 0.72

Abstract

The high voltage transmission line (HVTL) is a part of the electric power transmission system that distributes high-capacity electricity. There were numerous interruptions to the transmission line, one of which was caused by the kite getting stuck in the conductor. In the past, interference from kites on the conductor wire has been removed by crawling over it. This conventional method poses safety risks, is high-cost, and is time-consuming. This article describes the development of a flamethrower mounted on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for kite litter clearing on a high-voltage transmission line is presented. The flamethrower is fitted on the UAV to achieve high-mounted wire. The UAV was controlled using a transmitter and a receiver based on an Arduino. The flamethrower was tested for clearing a kite on the transmission line. The effect of nozzle diameter on flame burst length and the time it takes to burn a kite has been investigated. According to the experiment results, the performance of the flamethrower is highly satisfactory. Based on the component prices and manufacturing costs, the flamethrower has been successfully assembled at a low cost for a total of below $55.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine Science Process Skills (KPS) by applying the learning model to class VII materials on Temperature and Heat at Dr. Private Middle School. Wahidin Sudirohusodo for the 2022/2023 Academic Year conducted this research against the background of the low Science Process Skills (KPS) in Science for the last five years to 2021/2022, so that student learning outcomes were unsatisfactory. This was because students considered Science to be a difficult subject, especially Science Physics because it is necessary to use learning methods and models that can improve students' science process skills. This study used the classroom action research (PTK) method whose model was developed by Kemmis and McTaggart. Data collection techniques in this study used pretest and posttest test instruments with a population of 210 students spread across 7 parallel classes and one class was taken with 30 students as a sample. Data analysis using descriptive analysis was carried out by interactive analysis. The use of the inquiry training learning model has a good influence on improving science process skills. The research was conducted in pre-cycle and two cycles. In the pre-cycle with the pretest with a completeness score of only 16.67%, in the first cycle the completeness was 76.67%. Then the learning improvement was carried out again in cycle II, with inquiry training, completeness 83.33% So there was an increase in students' Science Process Skills.

Abstract

Remote laboratory is a development of digital technology to support the quality of learning in this digital era. However, scientific processes often cannot be accommodated in digital spaces such as e-learning. This research highlights a remote laboratory system that can accommodate scientific process improvement in e-learning.  The research objective is to develop and determine the performance of the remote laboratory system of Newton’s Law experiment based on IoT for e-learning as an experiment development model. Research methods can be classified into design and development, abbreviated as DDR. The remote laboratory system is designed and developed in six phases. This system is developed by five main components, namely, a photodiode sensor, MCU nodes, motor drivers, stepper motor, and ESP 32 CAM. The results indicate that the remote laboratory system of Newton's law experiment has demonstrated positive performance, and the accuracy and precision of measurement from the remote laboratory system are classified as high. Accordingly, the remote laboratory system of Newton's law experiment can be used as an alternative to support scientific processes in e-learning. It is expected to serve as a guide for virtual laboratory design, enlightening the audience on the potential of this system. It is used extensively for experimental teaching in modern physics education. The success in designing and developing an experimental model of Newton's law by implementing a remote laboratory based on IoT provides a good opportunity to develop various more sophisticated physics experimental systems to support the science process and e-learning.
