Abstract

Background: Anxiety during pregnancy can worsen the health of both mother and fetus if not treated appropriately. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the benefits of hypnobirthing in reducing anxiety in pregnant women. Methods: This study used a systematic review design using the PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) framework. The search strategy was conducted through electronic databases including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, with a focus on articles published in the last five years (2021–2025). Keywords used in searches include "hypnobirthing" and "anxiety". Results: The majority of the studies reviewed showed that hypnobirthing techniques effectively lowered pregnant women's anxiety levels, improved relaxation, and contributed to better pain management during childbirth. Conclusion: Hypnobirthing has the potential to be an effective non-pharmacological intervention in supporting the mental health of pregnant women and helping to achieve a calmer and more controlled childbirth experience.

Abstract

Postpartum blues was a common mental health issue experienced by mothers after childbirth, characterized by mood swings, feelings of sadness, and depressive symptoms. This study analyzes the influence of hemoglobin (Hb) levels and body mass index (BMI) on the risk of postpartum blues in postpartum mothers. If this condition is not recognized and addressed, it can develop into more severe postpartum depression.  This observational quantitative study was conducted at BPM Ida Susila Lamongan. The population in this study consists of all postpartum mothers who come for a check-up 1–2 weeks after delivery. The sample consists of 30 individuals selected using a purposive sampling technique. Inclusion criteria include postpartum mothers with a term pregnancy (≥37 weeks), spontaneous delivery, no history of mental disorders, and willingness to participate as respondents. Exclusion criteria include mothers who are currently using psychotropic drugs or have severe medical complications. Data were collected through the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) questionnaire and patient medical records, including Hb levels and BMI. Results: Pearson correlation showed a strong negative relationship between Hb levels and EPDS scores (r = -0.781, p < 0.05). Linear regression indicated that Hb and BMI significantly affect EPDS scores, with Hb having a greater influence. Pearson correlation between BMI and EPDS showed a moderate positive relationship (r = 0.573, p < 0.05). Conclusion: Low Hb levels and high BMI are risk factors for postpartum blues. This study emphasizes the importance of maintaining healthy Hb and BMI levels to prevent postpartum blues.

Abstract

Background: Cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) represents the most frequently encountered food allergy in pediatric populations younger than three years. Clinical presentations vary widely, including gastrointestinal (GI), respiratory, and cutaneous manifestations. Objectives: The purpose of this case report is to determine the effectiveness of an isolated soy protein formula, enriched with dietary fibre, as a dietary alternative for a child afflicted with cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA). Methods: This study presents a case report concerning a 2-week-old infant who presented with gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, specifically watery loose stools and vomiting. Given the family and socioeconomic circumstances, neither breast milk nor an amino acid or extensively hydrolyzed formula could be provided. Consequently, the infant received an isolated soy protein formula fortified with dietary fiber. This report further includes a review of the current literature on the utilization of dietary fiber in pediatric populations. Results: The use of isolate soy protein with dietary fibre formula may offer a well-tolerated and nutritionally adequate alternative for children with CMPA, providing paediatricians, nutritionists, and the broader healthcare community with an additional dietary option. Conclusions: The use of soy isolate protein formula with additional fibre suggests a beneficial effect to improve gut microbiota diversity and may improve stool consistency for both constipation and diarrhoea. However, further large-scale studies are needed to confirm its long-term effect, efficacy, and impact on growth and gut health.
