Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI) and labor productivity on poverty levels in Gorontalo Province. This study used secondary data in the form of panel data from 2018 to 2024 obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The unit of analysis covered all cities and regencies in Gorontalo Province, and the research variables included HDI, labor productivity, and poverty levels. This study used a panel data regression analysis in Stata to examine both the individual and simultaneous effects of the independent variables on poverty levels. Based on the analysis, HDI has a negative and significant effect on poverty levels, while labor productivity also exhibits a negative effect, with a smaller influence. Simultaneously, both variables are statistically significant in explaining variations in poverty levels in Gorontalo Province. These results indicate that improvements in HDI, particularly through enhanced education and healthcare, as well as increases in labor productivity through training, technological adoption, and job creation, are essential strategies for reducing poverty in the region.

Abstract

Poverty is a multidimensional problem that remains a major development issue in Gorontalo Province. This study aims to analyze the effect of gender inequality on poverty in districts/cities of Gorontalo Province in the period 2019–2023. Poverty as the dependent variable is measured by the number of poor people in the districts/cities of Gorontalo Province, while the three indicators of gender inequality as independent variables are the ratio of female health workers to males, the ratio of the average length of schooling (RLS) of females to males, and the ratio of the labor force participation rate (TPAK) of females to males. This study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data regression method, using secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Gorontalo Province and the Gorontalo Provincial Health Office. Data analysis was carried out using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results of the study indicate that partially, health workers have a negative but insignificant effect on poverty, average years of schooling have a negative but insignificant effect on poverty, and labor force participation rate has a negative but significant effect on poverty. Simultaneously, all three variables have a significant effect on poverty in Gorontalo Province. These findings indicate that increasing gender equality, particularly through labor force participation, can contribute to poverty reduction in the districts/cities of Gorontalo Province.

Abstract

This study examines organizational agility as a mediator between digital transformation and competitive advantage in Gorontalo's creative industry (fashion, crafts, culinary). Using a quantitative causal-explanatory design with 120 purposively sampled respondents, data were analyzed via PLS-SEM. Results show digital transformation does not directly affect competitive advantage (β = -0.028; p = 0.877) but significantly enhances organizational agility (β = 0.834; p < 0.001). Organizational agility significantly influences competitive advantage (β = 0.680; p < 0.001) and fully mediates the relationship (β = 0.568; p = 0.001). The model explains 69.6% of agility variance and 43.2% of competitive advantage variance. We conclude digital transformation alone is insufficient; agile capabilities are essential for sustainable competitive advantage in dynamic markets.

Abstract

This study analyzes the level of technology adoption and its impact on the business development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Gorontalo City, Indonesia. Using a quantitative descriptive comparative design, data were obtained from 86 MSMEs 43 assisted and 43 non-assisted through structured questionnaires. The results reveal significant differences in technology adoption levels between the two groups (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the study confirms a strong positive impact of technology adoption on business growth (p < 0.01), where MSM Es with a high level of digital adoption experienced approximately 25–30% higher income growth compared to those with low adoption. These findings emphasize that technological adoption not only distinguishes business performance among MSMEs but also acts as a key driver for income expansion and competitive advantage through digital transformation. These results position technology adoption as both a key differentiator of MSME performance and a vital driver of sustainable growth and competitiveness. Policymakers should prioritize targeted digital training to bridge this gap.
