Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney disease rely on hemodialysis therapy for life support, and this treatment can impact their psychological well-being. Family support is a crucial factor influencing psychological well-being in these patients. This study aims to investigate the correlation between family support and the psychological well-being of chronic kidney disease patients. The research employed an observational analytic cross-sectional design, with respondents being patients at Roemani Hospital in Semarang who underwent hemodialysis in October 2022. The study utilized questions to assess perceived social support from family and a psychological well-being scale. The statistical analysis employed the Spearman rank test, revealing a strong relationship between family support and the psychological well-being of chronic kidney disease patients, with a positive correlation (p = 0.001, r = 0.661). The findings suggest that higher levels of family support are associated with better psychological well-being in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease patients require lifelong hemodialysis therapy. Self care management is needed to improve quality of life and prevent complications. Knowledge about fluid intake restriction is needed as one of the factors to achieve good self-care management. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge about fluid intake restriction and self-care management in hemodialysis patients at Roemani Semarang Hospital. Analytic observational with cross sectional design was the method in this study. The study population was hemodialysis patients at Roemani Semarang Hospital as of May 2023 and the sample that met the inclusion criteria amounted to 83 people and the sampling technique used total sampling. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire about fluid intake restriction and a self-care management questionnaire. Data analysis using the spearman rank test. Based on the Spearman rank correlation test, the p value = 0.001 and the correlation strength of +0.699 means a strong relationship between knowledge about fluid intake restrictions and self-care management of hemodialysis patients with a positive relationship direction. The better the knowledge about fluid intake restriction, the higher the self-care management of hemodialysis patients at Roemani Semarang Hospital.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a condition characterized by an irreversible decline in kidney function, necessitating hemodialysis. Self-management is a crucial strategy in modifying the lifestyle of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. Several clinical factors, including disease duration, duration of hemodialysis, frequency of hemodialysis, complications, and comorbidities, influence self-management. This study aims to examine the relationship between clinical factors and self-management behavior in hemodialysis patients at RSD K.R.M.T Wongsononegoro, Semarang. This study used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was total sampling, involving 50 respondents. Data collection was conducted using a structured questionnaire and the Hemodialysis Patient Self-Care Measurement Scale. The relationship analysis was performed using the Spearman’s rank and mann-whitney test. The average duration of illness and hemodialysis among respondents was 32.92 months, with a mean self-management score of 64.02. All 50 respondents (100%) underwent hemodialysis twice a week. The majority of respondents experienced complications (n=45, 90%) and comorbidities (n=41, 82%). Spearman’s rank analysis indicated no significant relationship between disease duration and self-management (p=0.529) or between hemodialysis duration and self-management (p=0.529). The relationship between hemodialysis frequency and self-management could not be analyzed, as all patients underwent hemodialysis twice a week. Furthermore, the Mann-Whitney test showed no significant difference in self-management scores concerning complications (p=0.650) or comorbidities (p=0.960). There is no association between disease duration, duration of hemodialysis, frequency of hemodialysis, complications, and comorbidities with self-management behavior.

Abstract

Background: One of the health facilities provided by the government is integrated health center in the village or Pos Pelayanan Terpadu or Posyandu. The impact of  posyandu that does not run smoothly will result in a decline in the quality of public health. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the factors that influence the implementation of posyandu in Kaliboto Lor Village, Jatiroto District, in 2020.Method: The research was carried out with descriptive observation and also qualitative design. The sampling technique used is snowball sampling with a total sample of 6 people. The research was conducted from October to November 2021.Result: The research found that the implementation of posyandu in Kaliboto Lor Village, Jatiroto District could not be carried out every month due to restrictions on activities and the application of health protocols. There are supporting factors, including parties’ participation, infrastructure facilities, good coordination, the existence of coaching, and evaluation of activities. Inhibiting factors include non-optimal use of the forum, limited posyandu targets, lack of commitment from parties, and an unsupportive environment. The efforts made are counseling, home visits, appointments, and monitoring of periodic evaluations. There is no significant difference between the implementation of posyandu with the previous year. Conclusion: In general, the implementation of posyandu is still not optimal due to the constrained method and the need for a follow-up plan from the puskesmas. The research results obtained can be used as a reference in improving the performance of posyandu.

Abstract

Background:Chronic kidney disease has emerged as a leading cause of death and suffering in the 21st century. Hemodialysis is the most common renal replacement therapy for patients with chronic kidney disease. Hemodialysis patients experience physical and psychological distress. The psychological effects include increasedFatigue, anxiety, decreased quality of life, and increased risk of suicide are some of the factors contributing to this. Self-acceptance in patients can lead to the development of a new purpose in life, known as psychological well-being. One of the major problems contributing to hemodialysis failure is patient refusal, which is linked to low knowledge. This study aims to analyze the influence of knowledge levels about chronic kidney disease on psychological well-being in patients with chronic kidney disease. Method:This quantitative, observational, and analytical research method utilized a cross-sectional design. A population of 103 patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis in October 2023 served as the study subjects. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The Spearman rank test was also used by the researchers. The research instruments used were a questionnaire on the level of knowledge regarding chronic kidney disease and a questionnaire on the psychological well-being scale theory from Ryf.Results:A total of 89 respondents met the inclusion criteria. The Spearman rank test yielded a p-value of 0.000 and a correlation strength of +0.737, indicating a strong positive effect of knowledge on the psychological well-being of chronic kidney disease sufferers. Conclusion:The better the level of knowledge regarding chronic kidney disease, the greater the impact on improving the psychological well-being of chronic kidney disease sufferers.
