Abstract

Health education plays a critical role in enhancing individuals' knowledge, attitudes, and skills to address health issues such as HIV/AIDS. Given the rising prevalence of HIV/AIDS among adolescents, effective health education is essential for mitigating social stigma and boosting self-efficacy in this group. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS health education in improving self-efficacy and reducing stigma among adolescents. A scoping review methodology was employed, following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, with literature searches conducted across academic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. The results indicate that while numerous educational interventions have been implemented, few directly address the psychological impacts of stigma and self-efficacy. This study concludes that well-designed educational programs can alter adolescents' perceptions of HIV/AIDS, enhance their self-confidence, and reduce societal stigma. These programs improve adolescents’ understanding of HIV/AIDS prevention while alleviating the anxiety and fear often linked to social stigma. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for developing more effective HIV/AIDS health education initiatives, focusing on stigma reduction and the enhancement of self-efficacy among adolescents.

Abstract

Health education in primary healthcare facilities serves as a key factor in facilitating the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Primary healthcare facilities, such as community health centers and clinics, serve as initial points for mothers to understand that exclusive breastfeeding, along with using the right breastfeeding techniques, greatly benefits their baby’s health and growth. Through effective health education programs, healthcare providers can enhance mothers' knowledge and skills in breastfeeding, which in turn can reduce failures in exclusive breastfeeding practices. Research shows that mothers who receive health education on breastfeeding techniques those educated on the topic tend to achieve exclusive breastfeeding success more often than those without such knowledge. A scoping A review approach adhering to the PRISMA-ScR criteria was utilized, with literature searches conducted through scientific literature platforms, for example PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. The results of effective health education in primary healthcare facilities can help achieve national targets for exclusive breastfeeding and improve the health of mothers and children.

Abstract

Abstract

Postpartum depression is a serious issue affecting mothers after childbirth and can harm both maternal mental health and child development. Hormonal declines postpartum increase vulnerability, often compounded by high stress and limited social support—especially from husbands. This study reviews nine articles from the past five years to examine how husband support maintains postpartum maternal mental health. Database searches with strict inclusion criteria and mixed-method analyses were conducted. Findings show that strong husband support—physical, emotional, and informational—reduces postpartum depression risk by more than twofold. Spousal relationship quality, maternal age, and socioeconomic conditions also influence outcomes, while insufficient husband support can affect fathers’ mental health. This study underscores the need for educating and engaging husbands during the postpartum period. These findings inform inclusive maternal mental health policies and programs, including: adoption and enforcement of routine EPDS screening as standard care (aligned with WHO recommendations and Indonesia’s Permenkes No. 21/2021 on maternal mental health services); strengthening family-centered services that actively involve husbands (partner-inclusive antenatal/postnatal classes, structured father education, couple counseling); culturally sensitive supports across socioeconomic contexts; and clear referral pathways from primary care to specialized services to ensure timely, equitable treatment for all mothers and families.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is frequently reported by adolescents. Physical exercises is one method of overcoming the symptoms of primary dysmenorrhea. Consistent physical activity has been shown to induce the synthesis of endorphins, which function as analgesics within the body. This study presents a comprehensive review to synthesize evidence regarding the relation between physical activity or exercise with dysmenorrhea and how exercise can ameliorate dysmenorrhea in adolescents. This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method to identify articles published within the last three years (2021-2023) via PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. This process yielded seven pertinent studies. The studies have demonstrated that engaging in physical activity can effectively alleviate the symptoms associated with menstrual discomfort. Physical exercise in regular time for a minimum of thirty minutes, three times per week, can also contribute to the alleviation of pain associated with menstrual discomfort among adolescent females diagnosed with primary dysmenorrhea. Isometric exercise, massage therapy, yoga, electrotherapy, connective tissue manipulation, stretching, kinesio tape, progressive relaxation exercise, aviva stretching exercise, stretching exercises, core strengthening exercise and aerobic exercise are the recommended forms of physical exercise in reducing the impact of primary dysmenorrhea. However, the extent to which one experiences these benefits is contingent upon the nature and intensity of the exercise.

Abstract

Introduction: Around 180 to 220 million young people are living with a disability and almost 80% are in developing countries. Adolescents with intellectual disabilities (ID) face heightened risks of inappropriate sexual behavior, sexual violence, and reproductive health issues due to limited access to tailored education. Health professionals have a responsibility to educate, inform, and support adolescents with intellectual disabilities regarding their sexual and reproductive health. Aims: The purpose of this study was to explore sexual and reproductive health education for adolescents with intellectual disabilities based on the perspective of health workers. Methods: A qualitative case study was conducted with 12 health workers from four primary health centers in Pangkalpinang City. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using content analysis. Result: Analysis yielded 47 transcripts, 150 codes, 9 categories, and 4 overarching themes: Modelling, Guided Practice, Reinforcement, and Feedback. Under Modelling, key categories included the use of tangible learning media, focused educational content and adaptive communication techniques. Guided Practice involved live demonstrations, small-group settings, structured time management, and parental involvement. Reinforcement primarily took the form of positive feedback. Informants emphasized that effective sexual and reproductive health education must be repetitive, interactive, and involve parents as co-educators. Conclusion: Sexual and reproductive health education for adolescents with intellectual disabilities based on the perspective of health workers is formed by modelling, guided practice, reinforcement and feedback. These findings provide a practical, evidence-based framework for developing standardized sexual and reproductive health programs and training curricula for health workers in similar settings.
