Abstract

The naming system of residential areas serves not only as a strategy to influence consumers but also as a reflection of the characteristics, behaviors, lifestyles, and social motivations of a region's community. This research aims to investigate the forms and patterns of language usage, analyze collocation relationships, and examine the information-symbolic functions of language use. Data were collected from 257 texts on housing signs in five districts of Malang City: Lowokwaru, Klojen, Blimbing, Sukun, and Kedung Kandang. The data source for housing signs was collected using documentation techniques (photography). Interviews were conducted with a number of developers and homebuyers. The data were analyzed using corpus linguistics (LancsBox software version 6.0) and the linguistic landscape framework proposed by Landry and Bourhis. The research results indicate that five languages are involved in the residential naming system, namely Indonesian, English, Arabic, Spanish, and Japanese. The use of Indonesian and English is extensive in the housing naming system, and both languages are involved in all patterns, including monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual. Some other languages, such as Javanese, Arabic, and Japanese, are also present but in a more varied manner. Corpus linguistic analysis also shows that the lexicons "perum" (housing) and "residence" form a strong collocation relationship. The information function indicates that location, housing model, and aesthetic image are dominant. This situation leads to the naming patterns of housing being dependent on these three aspects. The language use symbols demonstrate modernity and exclusivity, collaborating with the symbols of urban lifestyles in Malang City, which still maintain a Javanese and Islamic nuance.

This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The data in this research is the text in tweets from Twitter users in the Friendly Community. The data collection technique is carried out using documentation techniques. The data analysis technique is carried out using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of research on the subject-object position, women act as subjects and objects that are initially objectified, turn into active subjects. Meanwhile, the writer-reader position shows the writer's resilience and shows a discourse of resistance to body shaming.  The forms of body shaming that women often experience focus on 3 forms, namely abbreviations, the use of metaphorical figures of speech, and the use of satirical figures of speech. Six aspects of resilience strategies were identified, namely optimism, emotional regulation, self-efficacy, problem analysis, impulse control, and reaching out.. The absence of empathy strategies shows that women focus on self-protection, self-acceptance, and seeking support from those around them.

Abstract

Abstract

The existence of benbepon according to stories circulating for generations began with Chinese traders who came to eastern Indonesia, especially on Biak Island, Papua. History proves that before the 15th century, Papuans had already established relationships with foreign nations such as traders from China, Spain and Potrugal. On the way back to their hometowns, it was not uncommon for Biak people to meet Chinese traders who wanted to go to the same destination. But before passing through or stopping to settle on Biak Island, the Biak tribe community, has a request that must be fulfilled, namely they must leave something in the form of goods or objects as a condition that they are accepted by the Biak tribe community. Then foreign ceramic objects such as plates and jars were given by Chinese Chinese traders to the Biak tribal community. Biak people call these foreign ceramic objects “Benbepon”. The research method used is linguistic anthropology which aims to examine language with a cultural, social context in the naming of benbepon motifs in the ararem tradition of the Biak tribe. then the data is analyzed using Barthes' semiotic theory, namely denotative and connotative meanings to find out and describe the symbolic meaning and form of benbepon motifs and shapes. Based on the results and discussion of the History of Chinese Arrival. benbepon is classified by the Biak tribe based on age, motif, shape and sound. The results of the classification are ten types of benbepon, but in the Biak tribe's ararem tradition which is used until now only 8 types of benbepon such as the embossed dragon snake motif (Benkorben), koi/gold fish (Benkarip), roses (Paramasi/Resa-resa Paramasi), paradise occupying tifa, to the honai house (Benayemer). Then the benbepon motif has a symbolic meaning in the ararem tradition for the Biak tribe, which symbolizes prosperity, protection, luck, fertility, peace, and self-identity that must be preserved. Benbepon also has anthropological aspects in the ararem tradition, namely the acculturation process in the benbepon and the function of benbepon in Biak society.  Keywords: Benbepon,Ararem Tradition,Chinese Traders
