Abstract

The research aims to analyze bibliometric data and provide a general overview of the literature in sports, especially the development of values through sport or value development through sport. This research discusses the concept of Value Through Sport, which underlines the role of sport in developing social, cultural, and spiritual values. Sport not only provides physical benefits but also shapes individual character and attitudes, such as cooperation, leadership, and discipline. Using bibliometric analysis, this research analyzes data from scientific publications related to the development of values through sport using the VOSviewer application. The research results show a decrease in the number of publications associated with Value Development Through Sport from 2019 to 2024, as well as the identification of 61 relevant key terms. In conclusion, the network visualization shows relationships between research topics that highlight the importance of sport in building values and character, as well as the potential for further research on topics that are still rarely researched. This study uses bibliometric analysis through software, namely Vosviewers for effective research results. The research procedure is presented with network visualization, overlay visualization, and density visualization. The stage of collecting articles through the Publish or Perish database consisting of Google Scholar and Taylor and Francis. The types of articles obtained are in the form of indexed article references in Scopus (Q1-Q4) and Sinta (S1-S4). The results of the search analysis found 288 articles over the last 10 years from 2014 to 2024 on leadership and development through sport, then the results showed a positive trend that was systematically arranged into future development topics that were relevant to the research study. Abstract

Sports and physical education have an essential role in improving morality in adolescents by implementing sports values, especially in overcoming juvenile delinquency and negative behaviour, one of which is bullying. This research seeks to investigate the comparison of sports values in students based on their environment. This study employs a numerical descriptive approach with a comparative survey design conducted in two schools, namely junior high schools and vocational high schools in Bandung Greater, with a total of 1,531 (869 students living in villages and 662 students living in cities) aged 14-17 years. The instrument in this study used the Youth Sport Values Questionnaire-2 (YSVQ-2), with data analysis using the Mann - Whitney U test. The Findings revealed a notable distinction in the Means Ranks value between villages and cities on Youth Sport Values (sig 0.011). The result show that urban areas have higher Youth Sport Values than rural areas. Several factors, including adequate sports facilities and a developing sports culture in the city, can influence this difference. These findings may indicate the importance of increasing access to sports facilities and emphasizing physical education in order to improve moral values and sportsmanship in students. Further research can examine more deeply the dynamics of the formation of sports values in various contexts using different research methods.

Abstract

The correlation between teenagers' sporting ideals and perceived social support from family, friends, and others is examined in this paper. From a stratified random sample, 1,454 teenagers aged 12–18 (50.1% male and 49.9% female) underwent quantitative research using a correlational survey methodology. While the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) evaluated degrees of social support, the Youth Sport Values Questionnaire-2 (YSVQ-2) measured sports values. Using Pearson correlation, data were examined. Sports values and social support had a noteworthy but modest positive connection (r = 0.268, p = 0.001). Among the sources of encouragement, the influence of physical education instructors and coaches was more noticeable than that of family or friends. These findings imply that encouraging good youth development depends on using value-based sports education, particularly via organized programs and motivating adult figures. This study adds to the increasing corpus of research on sports pedagogy and emphasizes how social environments shape teenage ideals using sports.

Abstract

Sports have great potential in shaping the character of teenagers, but in Indonesia, they still focus more on achievement than self-value development. As a result, moral and social values that should be instilled through sports have not been optimally utilized, especially in the face of the value crisis and the increase in juvenile delinquency. This study aims to compare the values that teenagers learn through sports and to see if these values are different for boys and girls. The method used was a quantitative approach with a comparative survey design, involving 1,564 adolescents aged 12–18 years in the Bandung area, consisting of 762 boys and 802 girls. Sampling was carried out using the convenience sampling technique. The instrument used was the Youth Sport Values Questionnaire-2 (YSVQ-2), which measures three dimensions of values: morality, competence, and status. The technical aspects of the research include the preparation of instruments, coordination with schools, direct data collection, and data supervision and checking. The results showed that the total sports score of adolescent boys was 54.5 and girls was 53.4, with a difference of 1.1 points. The significance test yielded a value of 0.10 < 0.05, showing a significant difference between men and women in interpreting sports values. This study aims to compare the values teenagers learn through sports and to see if these values differ for boys and girls.

Abstract

The value given to sports to be taken and applied, especially in the physical education process, to support the development of students' adolescent character, this study aims to integrate the universal values of sports into the seven spheres of physical education learning materials to encourage positive adolescent development. The research method used is quantitative, with a quasi-experimental design. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling techniques, with certain considerations from researchers, including students who do not participate in extracurricular sports, with 60 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire of 73 items designed to measure a universal scale of sports scores with validity tests obtained less stable scores = 0.254. Data analysis techniques describe statistical data, normality tests using Shapiro Wilk, homogeneity tests using Leene tests, and hypothesis testing using paired sample t-tests. The result of this study is that the universal values of sport can be well integrated into every physical education lesson in schools. Students can develop social and emotional skills fundamental to success by utilizing these principles in life inside and outside school. Incorporating these values can also help young people cope with the demands of competitiveness and focus on personal growth, not just winning or losing.
