Abstract

Background. This study aims to compare the body size and body weight of adult female Kejobong goats in the Ngudi Dadi Livestock Farmer Group with the Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia Nomor 301/Kpts/SR.120/5/2017 tentang Penetapan Rumpun Kambing Kejobong and obtaining a body weight guessing formula based on the body measurements of an adult female Kejobong goat. The research was conducted on February 1 - March 1, 2022, located in the Ngudi Dadi Livestock Farmer Group which is the center area for the development of Kejobong goats in Kejobong District, Purbalingga Regency. Materials and Methods. The research material used was 97 female Kejobong goats aged >12 months. The research method used is a survey with data retrieval techniques using purposive sampling. The data obtained is analyzed using descriptive analysis, linear regression analysis, correlation analysis, determination, accuracy test and t test. Results. The results showed that the adult female Kejobong goat had an average body length of 52.05 ± 7.11 cm, a chest circumference of 73.43 ± 6 cm, a shoulder height of 68.32 ± 4.86 cm and a body weight of 31.31 ± 7.45 kg. The correlation coefficient is 0.909 and the coefficient of determination is 82.6%. The regression equation obtained is Y = -57,378 + 0.238(X1) + 0.746(X2) + 0.314(X3) with Y: body weight, X1: body length, X2: chest circumference, X3: shoulder height. Body length contributed 19%, chest circumference 64% and shoulder height 17% in the regression equation. The accuracy test showed that the obtained formula had an average accuracy of 92.46%. Based on research, it can be concluded that the body size and body weight of adult female Kejobong goats in the Ngudi Dadi Livestock Farmer Group is lower than the standard body size and body weight of adult female Kejobong goats that have been established by the Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia Nomor 301/Kpts/SR.120/5/2017 tentang Penetapan Rumpun Kambing Kejobong. Conclusion. For the benefit of time efficiency, the presumption of body weight is only recommended using chest circumference only because it has the largest relative contribution (64%).

Abstract

Background. Sakub sheep is a local sheep in Brebes Regency, Central Java, that has the potential as a genetic resource because it has a jumbo body. To know the body weight, weighing must be done. However, in buying and selling transactions, body weight can be estimated using livestock body measurements. Livestock body morphometrics such as body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height can be used to estimate livestock body weight. The study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between body morphometric measures (body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height) and body weight in male sakub sheep. By studying this relationship, we can obtain useful information in optimizing ram production and can assist in determining appropriate management and nutrition strategies to increase ram body weight. Materials and Methods. Sheep were used in several age groups (12 months, 18 months, 24 months, and 36 months). The tools used in this study were hanging scales, measuring tapes, and stationery. Results. Based on the study's results, it can be seen that the relationship between body morphometrics (body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height) and body weight of male sakub sheep in various age groups has differences in the level of correlation. In the 12-month age group, the shoulder height variable had a very strong correlation (0.95) with body weight, while body length had a moderate correlation (0.55) and chest circumference had a low correlation (0.33). In the 18-month age group, the chest circumference variable had a very strong correlation (0.89) with body weight, while body length and shoulder height had strong correlations of 0.79 and 0.74, respectively. At 24 months of age, body length had a very strong correlation with body weight (0.99), while shoulder height had a moderate correlation (0.59) and chest circumference had a low correlation (0.29). In the 36-month age group, body length had a very strong correlation with body weight at 0.99, shoulder height had a strong correlation at 0.72, while the chest circumference variable had a low correlation (0.52). Conclusion. Based on the research and discussion that has been done, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between body morphometrics (body length, chest circumference, and shoulder height) to the body weight of male sakub sheep.

Abstract

Background. Local goats are widely cultivated in Indonesia, especially in Kejobong, Purbalingga. Local farmers usually determine the price of livestock from body weight. To make it easier, it can be done by measuring the chest circumference, which is quite accurate compared to the results of the scales. The purpose of the study was to estimate the body weight (BW) of Kejobong goats using chest circumference (LD) measurements. The purpose of this study was to estimate the body weight (BB) of Kejobong goats using chest circumference (LD). The materials used were 38 female Kejobong goats aged 3-12 months and 51 heads >12-30 months. Samples were taken using purposive random sampling. The variables observed were the BB and LD of female Kejobong goats. The calculation results show a correlation (r) in the age group 3-12 months of 0.984, in the age group >12-30 months the correlation is 0.691 and in all age groups of 0.942. The results of the correlation between LD and BB obtained a linear regression equation for female Kejobong goats aged 3-12 months Y= -21.433+0.6552x, in the age group >12-48 months Y= -21.916+0.735x and in all age groups Y= -28.802+0.812x. The linear regression equation can be used to estimate the body weight of female Kejobong goats at all ages.

Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian pada masyarakat (PPM) ini adalah untuk menjaga kelestarian Kambing Kejobong melalui pelatihan pembuatan milk replacer (MR). Metode yang dilakukan dalam berupa sosialisasi, pembuatan demplot, aplikasi program, dan evaluasi. Demplot kegiatan berupa pembuatan MR komersil merek Profat dan dipercobakan pada 4 ekor cempe. Data dibahas secara deskriptif. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan nilai rata-rata peserta sebesar 3,17, kemudian mengalami peningkatan pada nilai post-test menjadi 6,6. Hasil aplikasi MR pada cempe memberi pertambahan bobot badan harian (PBBH) yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan yang tidak diberi MR, yaitu 0,075 kg/hari > 0,066 kg/hari. Sebanyak 33% peternak sangat mau dan 37% mau untuk menerapkan MR untuk cempe, sedangkan 30% menyatakan ragu-ragu. Kesimpulan kegiatan bahwa PPM mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan, meningkatkan performa produksi cempe dan motivasi peternak dalam menerapkan MR pada cempe, sehingga dapat mendukung pelestarian Kambing Kejobong.

Abstract

Ransum berbasis indeks sinkronisasi protein-energi (SPE) merupakan pengembangan nutrisi ruminansia yang ditujukan pada optimalisasi sintesis protein mikroba (SPM). Optimalisasi SPM diupayakan dengan sinkronisasi ketersediaan ammonia dan energi melalui indeks antara 0-1. Semakin simultanya kedua senyawa tersebut diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kecernaan, produksi volatile fatty acid (VFA), dan estimasi energi yang dihasilkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghitung estimasi produksi energi dan produk samping pada ransum berbasis indeks SPE melalui stoikiometri pembentukan VFA. Materi penelitian adalah cairan rumen kambing jawa randu yang di ambil sesaat setelah ternak dipotong. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan (Indeks ransum 0,55; 0,6; 0,65; dan 0,7) dan 4 ulangan. Estimasi energi dan produk hasil samping fermentasi dihitung berdasarkan stoikiometri pembentukan VFA. Data dianalisis dengan analisis variansi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ransum berbasis indeks SPE tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap semua variablel (estimasi energi reaktan, total produksi energi, efisiensi produksi energi, methane, energi terbuang, hidrogen, karbon dioksida, dan air). Disisi lain, penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ransum berbasis indeks SPE menghasilkan estimasi efisiensi produksi energi yang rendah, karena estimasi produksi methane yang tinggi. Hal ini disebabkan karena tingginya proporsi serat ransum, pembentukan asetat, serta H2 dan CO2.

Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the productivity and nutrient digestibility of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) fodder given different levels of urine fertilizer in various planting media and harvest times. The study was carried out in June - September 2020 and used numbu variety of sorghum planted hydroponically at fodder phase. This study used a 2x4 factorial completely randomized design with 4 replications. The first factor was the harvest time at 5 days (H1) and 10 days (H2). The second factor was the planting media that included water medium as an internal control (M1), 12.5 mL/L of urine fertilizer (M2) and 25 mL/L of water medium (M3), and urea 20 mg/L of water medium (M4) as the external control. The urine fertilizer was derived from Ongole crossbreed urine fermented for 21 days. The density of sorghum seeds in the planting medium was 2.5 kg/m2. The observed variables included plant productivity and nutrient digestibility in vitro. Data analysis used ANOVA and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test to determine significance. The results showed that the addition of urine fertilizer and harvest time had a significant effect on plant height, length of fresh leaf production, dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein compared to those of the internal control. The H2M3 treatment provides a comparable productivity effect with H2M4. Meanwhile, harvest time affected dry matter and organic matter digestibility. It can be concluded that 25.0 mL/L of urine fertilizer in planting medium and harvest time in 10 days were able to increase productivity, dry matter digestibility, and organic matter digestibility of sorghum fodder.

Abstract

An experiment was conducted at Kalikesur Farm, Kedung Banteng, Banyumas to investigate the reproductive performance of Saanen dairy goats after PGF2α injection on different body weights. This experiment included twenty female Saanen goats at 2-3 years of age, 2-3 kidding periods, and varying body weights of 30 to 55 kg. All goats were intramuscularly injected by 2 ml PGF2α (LutalyseTM, Pharmacia and Upjohn Company, Pfizer Inc) in a double injection pattern, with 11-day interval to perform estrous synchronization. The variables on reproductive performance such as estrus onset, length of estrus, and intensity of estrus were measured and monitored twice a day at 6-10 am and 3-5 pm. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were conducted. Results demonstrated that body weight performed strong correlations with estrus intensity (r = 0.66) while the time for the first estrus (onset) has a negative moderate correlation with body weight (r = -0.47), a negative weak correlation was recorded between body weight and length of estrus (r = -0.17). Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the body weight of goats in the estrus synchronization program can be used to be an indicator of reproductive performance, especially in estrus intensity. This can help farmers to predict estrus behavior after PGF2α synchronization.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui paritas, tipe kelahiran dan bobot pra sapih cempe kambing Jawarandu dan Kejobong, serta hubungan paritas dan tipe kelahiran terhadap bobot pra sapih cempe kambing Jawarandu dan Kejobong. Penelitian dilaksanakan mulai tanggal 27 Mei sampai 16 Juni 2024 di Kelompok Tani Ternak Kecamatan Pengadegan, Kabupaten Purbalingga. Pengambilan sampel dan penentuan wilayah penelitian dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Sampel terdiri dari kambing Jawarandu 30 ekor dan kambing Kejobong 30 ekor dengan kriteria telah beranak dan memiliki cempe pra sapih berumur maksimal 90 hari. Variabel yang diukur yaitu paritas (1-4), tipe kelahiran (tunggal dan kembar), serta bobot pra sapih cempe kambing Jawarandu dan kambing Kejobong. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif, regresi linier berganda variabel Dummy, uji t dan uji chi square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase populasi pada paritas induk kambing Jawarandu diperoleh paritas kesatu 56,67%, kedua 36,67%, dan ketiga 6,67%, tipe kelahiran tunggal dan kembar masing-masing 50%, serta rataan dan simpang baku bobot pra sapih 9,94±3,26 kg/ekor. Kambing Kejobong memiliki persentase populasi pada paritas kesatu 20%, kedua 23,33%, ketiga 40%, dan keempat 16,66%, tipe kelahiran tunggal sebesar 46,67%, kembar 53,33%, serta rataan dan simpang baku bobot pra sapih 8,78±2,70 kg/ekor. Paritas dan tipe kelahiran tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap bobot pra sapih cempe kambing Jawarandu dengan korelasi rendah sebesar 0,40 dan koefisien determinasi sebesar 16%. Paritas dan tipe kelahiran tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap bobot pra sapih cempe kambing Kejobong dengan korelasi agak rendah sebesar 0,38 dan koefisien determinasi sebesar 14,53%. Paritas kambing Jawarandu dan Kejobong berbeda, sedangkan tipe kelahiran tidak berbeda. Bobot pra sapih cempe kambing Jawarandu dan kambing Kejobong menunjukkan ada perbedaan yang signifikan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa hubungan paritas dan tipe kelahiran terhadap bobot pra sapih cempe pada kambing Jawarandu dan kambing Kejobong positif dan relatif sama.
