Abstract

ABSTRACTWe propose an approach to minimizethe yieldreduction  of sugarcane in an  agro-industry supply chain withthe synchronization between the availability of  cane in the field with the amount of  raw cane in the sugar plant requirement. Normally, the yield of sugarcane will instantly decreaseas the cane that has been cut down is not further processed immediately.Sugarcane harvest schedules at PG Subang based on the maturity level of sugarcane were measured by using T-Score. The results obtained from the T-Score for 5 days were  Pasung 1, Awilarangan plot 8, Sumur pompa plot 15,  Kosedan plots  6 and 10, Cireundeu plots no. 5, Citamiang plots no. 1, Kalijati plots no. 18, Wanasari western plots no. 15, and in North Cigarukgak plots no. 37. Each plot was filled in accordance with a predetermined quota. Acceleration of delivery of cane to the mill was carried out  by providing a collection of 5 polls availability, so that each collector could  be immediately sent to the plant  and based on this study, it was  known that the waiting time in Queue was  about 2 minutes, so that the cane could  be immediately sent to the factory and synchronization could be achieved as an excellent integration between the polls and plant distribution. Keywords: synchronization, supply chain, cane sugar, simulation

Abstract

Colour based indicator for smart packaging is important for customers to get real fresh product and minimize the risk dealing with expiry storage. Currently, there is no exact model to relate these gradual colour changes with what extend of quality rate. Thus in this paper, it proposed a model based on association rules mining to generate relationship of smart packaging colour indicator and the quality of pasteurized milk packaged on the plastic bottle. The objectives of this research were to identify association parameters and to develop an association model of discoloration of smart packaging indicator on natural dyes to the quality changes. For a complete solution, the association model was effective to predict the status of smart packaging by applying the apriory algorithm from a combination of items. This research showed applicability from the association parameters which were obtained from previous research. Furthermore, this research generated top 10 rules out of 77 significant association rules which effectively outlined the quality to discoloration relationship and had strong relationship. Hence, these rules directly were applicable for the implementation of natural dyes to construct a smart packaging indicator. Keywords: smart packaging, association rules mining, color change, quality change

Abstract

The development of fresh-cut vegetable agroindustry is a complicated case because it does not just involve production process, but it also involves various sustainability aspects. Therefore, it needs a data analysis method, namely Analytical Network Process Benefits Opportunities Costs Risks (ANP BOCR) by green productivity approach which applies environmentally friendly principle. The research aimed to determine priority strategy for increasing sustainability of fresh-cut vegetabe agroindustry. According to ANP BOCR method, there were four criteria which influence sustainability of fresh-cut vegetable, namely environment, technology, contract farming, and economy.  The economy was the most dominant criteria. For increasing the sustainability of fresh-cut vegetable agroindustry, the best strategy  was contract farming. It was appropriate with the three most influential subcriteria i.e. the increase of contract farmers’ skill by farmer group, the increase of contract farmers’ use, and the increase of company profit. The application of contract farming strategy is the movement of contract farming area to certain area located near the location of fresh-cut vegetable agroindustry and the accompaniment of contract farmer sustainably. The excellence of this research was the characteristic of strategic effect which means the application of strategy will give some impacts, namely decrease the carbon emission, the cost of transportation, and the defect of vegetable supply. By moving contract farming area to certain area located near the location of fresh-cut vegetable agroindustry, the accompaniment of contract farmer sustainably for increasing the contract farmers’ skill in applying Good Agriculture Practice and Good Handling Practice will run intensively. Keywords: ANP BOCR, fresh-cut vegetables, green productivity, sustainability

Abstract

Aggregate planning is one of the most important activities of operations management for a competitive supply chain. Aggregate planning balances supply and demand during the planning time horizon. Aggregate planning in a food industry with perishable goods characteristics is a common problem. Mostly, studies on aggregate planning are only concerned with single product and single-phase production processes. This paper proposes a two-stage aggregate planning model that can be applied in the food industry with perishable goods characteristics. The two stages of the production process consist of processing raw materials into intermediate products and processing intermediate products into final products by implementing postponement or intermediate product storage. Processing of raw materials into intermediate materials is expected to solve the problem of material deterioration rate. The aggregate planning model uses a mathematical model approach and is solved by using Goal Programming. Based on the results of model verification using hypothetical data, the aggregate planning model can be applied to the food industry which implements a two-stage production system. Abstract

Aceh needs to improve industrial growth to secure economic growth by producing innovative products with added value. Some institutions have already put efforts to encourage innovation and development in some SMEs, but they have not showed any progresses. Thus, the aim of this research was to understand what were the barriers that prevent rattan SMEs in Aceh to innovate and become competitive. Previous research looked into barriers to innovation from SMEs owner’s perspectives, however they did not capture barriers from government and university perspectives. A case study research was carried out in SMEs, operating in Aceh Besar Region. This research employed a qualitative study through an explorative interview. The interview data collection used a purposive sampling technique. The result showed that there were three major barriers that were perceived by SMEs owners, namely raw material, financial access, and management and marketing skills. From analytical process the result shows that most of barriers perceived by entrepreneurs interviewed rooted from lack of knowledge transfer and information between triple helix institution. However, from the triple helix analysis, the real problem was the lack of information and different cultures between universities and SMEs. The recommendation that should be best taken by stakeholders in the industry was to transform university to become entrepreneurial university. Keywords: barrier to innovation, competitiveness, rattan SMEs
