Abstract

Pasraman, ashram, padukuhan, or gurukula is a traditional education system in Hinduism that has existed since ancient times. Hinduism recognizes that education is an important aspect of human life. In Bali, the history of pasraman has been known since ancient times. In various folktales, there are many touches of education and the existence of padukuhan or pasraman, where Balinese generations gained knowledge in ancient times. This research aims to evaluate Kecak Dance learning in non-formal education in Pasraman Widya Santhi Sebatu Village and to know the process of instilling character education values through Kecak Dance learning in Pasraman Widya Santhi Sebatu Village. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the learning of the Kecak Dance at Pasraman Widya Santhi is effective through interactive and participatory teaching methods. This learning process not only enhances students' dance skills but also provides a deep understanding of Balinese cultural values. Moreover, the activities successfully instill character education values such as discipline, responsibility, hard work, creativity, and pride in local culture. Community support, a conducive learning environment, and the integration of arts and cultural education are key factors in the program’s success. This study concludes that the learning of the Kecak Dance at Pasraman Widya Santhi serves as an effective model of non-formal education in shaping skilled, character-driven, and culturally aware youth. The structured and culture-based learning process enriches students' artistic skills while fostering awareness of the importance of preserving Bali's cultural heritage

Abstract

Gamelan Mandolin is a type of traditional Balinese music that is played by plucking. The Mandolin gamelan, which is thought to have originated from China, is still preserved by the people of Pupuan Village, Tabanan. One form of application of creativity and innovation in the world of music is in the development of the mandolin gamelan. Gamelan mandolin is a form of musical experiment that combines Balinese gamelan instruments with the mandolin, a musical instrument originating from China. In the creation process, the mandolin gamelan presents new challenges in terms of playing techniques, harmony and timbre which are different from gamelan in general. This article aims to examine the creativity of musicians in designing and processing gamelan mandolin instruments, as well as how these innovations have had an impact on the development of traditional and contemporary Balinese music. Using a composition and performance analysis approach, this research shows that the mandolin gamelan is not just a musical experiment, but also a means of enriching the Indonesian musical repertoire through mixing different cultural elements. Through creativity and innovation in the development of the mandolin gamelan, space is created for the evolution of traditional music that remains relevant amidst global musical developments.

Abstract

The background of this research stems from the importance of arts education as a foundation for developing children's emotional and social intelligence amid the challenges of globalization. Arts education not only serves as a vehicle for artistic expression but also as an effective medium for instilling values such as character, cooperation, empathy, and love for local and national culture. In the context of formal education, art is an important instrument for building children's adaptive, creative, and cultured personalities. This study aims to examine in depth the implementation of the Regional Art Lovers Community Program (Kopi Sianida) at SMP Negeri 1 Pupuan Tabanan and analyze its impact on students emotional and social development. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. Analysis is conducted comprehensively to identify patterns of the program's impact on students, including emotional, social, and cultural preservation aspects. The research findings indicate that the Kopi Sianida program significantly enhances students artistic skills, communication, cooperation, discipline, and emotional management. Art activities based on local wisdom, such as dance, music, and dharma gita, not only strengthen cultural identity but also shape the character of the younger generation to be virtuous and resilient in facing the dynamics of the times. This program serves as a relevant and applicable model for art education that can be implemented in other schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari oleh pentingnya pembelajaran seni musik, khususnya pembelajaran bernyanyi paduan suara. Lagu Mars dan Hymne menjadi materi yang esensial karena berfungsi sebagai media pembentukan karakter, dan kekompakan vokal. Meskipun demikian, urgensi penelitian ini terletak pada kondisi proses pembelajaran bernyanyi paduan suara di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Denpasar yang masih cenderung bersifat konvensional, kurang terstruktur, dan belum mampu menjamin pemerataan kualitas vokal peserta didik. Kondisi ini berpotensi menghambat pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran paduan suara sehingga diterapkan metode drill, yang menekankan latihan terarah, dan konsistensi latihan untuk meningkatkan kualitas suara kelompok. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan implementasi metode drill dalam pembelajaran bernyanyi paduan suara, (2) menguji efektivitas metode drill terhadap peningkatan keterampilan vokal peserta didik, dan (3) mengidentifikasi faktor pendukung serta penghambat dalam penerapannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods, dengan data kualitatif untuk menggambarkan proses pembelajaran dan data kuantitatif untuk mengukur peningkatan keterampilan bernyanyi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode drill efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan bernyanyi paduan suara. Rata-rata nilai peserta didik meningkat dari 71,46 pada pre-test menjadi 83,58 pada post-test, dengan hasil uji-t menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (p < 0,05) yang berarti terdapat peningkatan yang nyata pada kualitas bernyanyi paduan suara setelah penerapan drill. Selain itu, penerapan metode drill juga berdampak positif terhadap kekompakan kelompok berdasarkan pengorganisasian peserta didik melalui empat formasi vokal yakni sopran, alto, tenor, dan bass untuk memaksimalkan penyeragaman warna suara. Temuan ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi guru seni budaya dalam mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran paduan suara yang lebih efektif serta menjadi rujukan bagi penelitian lanjutan di bidang pendidikan seni musik.
