Abstract

A mental health issue that has been of concern to the public in recent years is bipolar mental disorder. The disorder has an impact on increasing mortality rates, especially death by suicide. One of the Indonesian movies that raised the theme of bipolar mental disorder is the movie Ku Kira Kau Rumah. This research aims to find out how the audience perceives the content of the message, especially regarding Bipolar mental disorder in the movie Ku Kira Kau Rumah. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the method of reception analysis by Stuart Hall based on three categories namely Dominant Hegemonic Position, Negotiate Position and Oppositional Position using primary data sources as the main source. The data collection techniques used were interviews with eight informants and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the Miles and Huberman model including data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing and the data validation technique is source triangulation. Based on the results of the research data analysis, it was concluded that two informants were in the dominant hegemonic position, meaning that the two informants approved the message conveyed. Then three informants are in a positive negotiated position, meaning that the informant tends to agree with the message conveyed in the film and the last three informants are in an oppositional position, which means that the informant who is in the positive position does not agree with the message conveyed in the film.

Abstract

Punthuk Setumbu is a natural beauty located in Karangrejo Village, Borobudur, Magelang Regency. The popularity of Punthuk Setumbu has surged following its use in the film Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2, establishing it as a frequently visited tourist destination. The significant potential of Punthuk Setumbu necessitates effective management to enhance its tourist appeal while preserving its natural integrity. This community service program seeks to elevate the knowledge and abilities of partners in the following area such as: concept and functionality of photobooths, creation and implementation of the photobooth. The solutions provided by this community service encompass the dissemination of the design assistance, and photobooth deployment. The activities will be conducted via training employing lectures and practical exercises for the partners. The program includes phases of socialization, workshops, and activity monitoring. These training garnered favorable evaluations, with all aspect are increase for photo booth training. The implementation of the activities will occur between October 2024 and January 2025. The evaluation results demonstrate an enhancement in participants' knowledge regarding photo booth and film-induced tourism. This training aims to enhance Punthuk Setumbu's appeal to tourists and elevate regions income

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis makna visual yang terkandung dalam sampul Majalah Tempo Edisi 14 Januari 2024, dengan fokus pada representasi politik di Indonesia. Sampul majalah ini menampilkan karikatur Presiden Joko Widodo dalam konteks pemilihan umum, yang memicu interpretasi tentang dinamika politik dinasti dan keterlibatan presiden dalam kampanye. Metode semiotika Peirce digunakan sebagai kerangka analisis untuk mengurai tanda-tanda visual pada sampul, yang terdiri dari representamen, objek, dan interpretan. Analisis ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana elemen-elemen visual tersebut menyampaikan pesan tentang isu-isu politik yang berkembang, termasuk politik dinasti, pengaruh kekuasaan, dan persepsi publik terhadap peristiwa politik terkini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sampul majalah Tempo tidak hanya mencerminkan peristiwa politik yang sedang berlangsung, tetapi juga berperan dalam membentuk opini publik dan memicu diskusi tentang isu-isu penting dalam masyarakat. Karikatur sebagai bentuk komunikasi visual, digunakan untuk menyampaikan kritik atau sindiran terhadap fenomena politik dengan cara yang menarik perhatian dan memprovokasi pemikiran kritis. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana media massa, khususnya majalah, dapat mempengaruhi persepsi politik dan dinamika kekuasaan di Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze of the expressions of femininity in food photography as carried out by Kompakers Jogja. Photography has historically been established inside male-dominated domains. Unlike the historical context where photography has consistently been associated with male-dominated, Kompakers Jogja presents a contrasting perspective that questions the established norms of male dominance. This research explore the diverse viewpoints of ten individuals using a combination of photovoice and photo-elicitation. Through the application of qualitative content analysis within the thematic framework of femininity in photography, categorized as Theatricality, Tactility, Softness, and Hybridity. The analysis reveals that community members infuse distinct feminine sensibilities in their photography, as corroborated through visual scrutiny and validated during photo-elicitation. Prevalent among these manifestations are theatricality and hybridity, exemplified by strategic prop placement and digital enhancements aimed at augmenting the aesthetic allure of the captured images. In addition, tactility becomes important, especially when carefully choosing angles to elicit gustatory wants. Although the works of the members exhibit some softness, they serve more as supporting element. In summary, the Kompakers Jogja depict motifs that subtly and intricately symbolize femininity in their photography. This research shows the distinct characteristics linked to the facets of femininity as expressions of women's self-identity.

Abstract

Kelantan Wayang Kulit is a traditional art form that embodies the cultural, aesthetic, and symbolic values of the local Malay community. As a form of shadow theatre, it merges narrative, music, and visual aspects, serving as a significant channel for expressing cultural and ethical values. This research seeks to examine the impact of culture and aesthetics on the design development of key characters in Kelantan Wayang Kulit like Seri Rama, Siti Dewi, Maharaja Wana, and Pak Dogol. Employing a qualitative method via visual analysis and semi-structured interviews, this research explores design features like shapes, lines, colors, and motifs that represent the social status, moral values, and cultural identity of the Kelantan community. The results indicate that the character designs are shaped by multiple external factors, including Thai culture and Hindu-Buddhist epics, yet they have been adapted according to local values through dialects, natural motifs, and Malay-Islamic aesthetic principles. Characters like Pak Dogol embody the people’s wisdom through straightforward visual representation. This research highlights that Kelantan Wayang Kulit is more than a cultural heritage; it is also a vibrant and significant medium of visual communication. These results are significant in initiatives to protect and value traditional art, as well as to motivate modern visual art inspired by cultural heritage.

Abstract

Film merupakan media komunikasi massa yang menghubungkan komunikator dengan komunikan melalui media. Pada dasarnya film diangkat dari realita yang dapat mewakili segala kejadian yang terjadi di lingkungan masyarakat. Terdapat banyak kasus yang melaporkan mengenai penyiksaan hewan terutama di media sosial, hal ini tergambarkan dalam film Guardian Of The Galaxy Vol 3 yang menceritakan tentang seekor hewan yang dijadikan objek percobaan guna kesenangan pribadi. Peneltian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menganalisis realita yang terdapat pada film Guardian Of The Galaxy Vol 3 menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis semiotika modek John Fiske dan berfokus terhadap tiga level, yaitu level realitas yang berisi aspek penampilan, aspek lingkungan dan aspek perilaku. Lalu level representasi yang berisi aspek kamera, aspek pencahayaan dan aspek suara atau musik. Selanjutnya pada level ideologi dengan menggambarkan penyiksaan hewan dan dapat disimpulkan sebagai ideologi sadisme.

Abstract

As a mass media with a mirror function, advertising can reflect social reality formed from the media’s construction. Gender issues shaped by advertisements that are aired repeatedly will enter into the mindset of the people. In 2020, AX Indonesia published an ad for its newest product, the AX Pocket Perfume version of ‘Dijemput Si Cantik,’ which shows a female online motorcycle taxi driver picking up male customers. In  contrast  to  the  representation  of  women  in  previous  advertisements,  which  always  showed  women doing household activities. This study aims to determine the depiction of gender equality in the ad for the AX Pocket Perfume version of ‘Dijemput Si Cantik.’ A qualitative approach is used with descriptive explanations. The analysis theory used is Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis. The data collection technique in this study was to use the documentation method, namely to collect data from books, e-books, journals, and information from official sites on the internet as well as audio and visual materials, advertisements for the AXE Pocket Perfume version of ‘Dijemput Si Cantik.’ The results indicate that the depiction of gender equality in the ad for the AXE Pocket Parfume version of ‘picked up by the beauty’ is incomplete. Abstract

The gradual evolution of media alters the manner in which humans engage with one another. The media now serves as a tool for constructing one's identity. Instagram is one of the media platforms utilized. Instagram, a social media platform, is no longer solely utilized for personal purposes, but now serves as a community tool for disseminating information to its audience. One community that made use of this amenity is the Kompakers Jogja. This study examines the process by which members of the Kompakers Jogja develop their identities on the social media platform Instagram. The analysis is based on Gauntlett's theory of identity formation. The research methodology employed is qualitative, specifically utilizing the phenomenological approach to investigate the production of social reality. Through the utilization of observation and interview methodologies. This study utilizes seven informants as sources. The findings of this study indicate that individuals are actively shaping their identities on the social media platform Instagram by posting photos accompanied by captions. Three types of identity constructs are formed: professional and expertise identity, connection identity, and character identity.

Abstract

TikTok already has the power to spread news apart from providing entertainment content. The emergence of TikTok is very massive and is used by many groups. TikTok brings a novelty with its content which is not only entertaining like lots of challenge videos and also often informative because many news channels have started to use TikTok as their media platform. One of them is the Bikini Bottom News TikTok account which actively reports the latest information on both socio-political issues and issues of international celebrities. The expertise of journalists and the credibility of TikTok, which started as an entertainment platform, come into question when we talk about news. This study analyzes the expertise and credibility of participatory online news in the visual community or citizens. Using case studies by conducting literature reviews and discussions with informants who have the same background, namely students regarding the bikini.bottom.news account, the authors obtain data that the TikTok platform, especially on the bikini.bottom.news account has two acceptances, which are considered to have met the skill requirements of a journalist to be trusted for the credibility of the news content and are considered not in accordance with the provisions of the expertise of a journalist and the content is considered not credible.

Abstract

Pengaruh kebiasaan dan adat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari ada pada dunia perfilman. Genre film horor sangat populer di Indonesia karena sering dikaitkan dengan mistisisme. Film KKN di Desa Penari, yang menjadi film terlaris 2022, memanfaatkan unsur adat sebagai pembangun suasana horor dengan menggunakan benda-benda tradisi, rumah, baju, dan alunan musik sinden. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis unsur tanda yang berkaitan dengan budaya atau adat dalam film KKN di Desa Penari. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan studi pustaka melibatkan pemahaman dan pembelajaran teori-teori yang terdapat dalam berbagai literatur terkait dengan penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui pencarian sumber dan rekonstruksi dari beragam referensi. Dengan menggunakan teori semiotika John Fiske yang mengungkapkan analisis terhadap tiga tingkatan, yaitu tingkat realitas yang menjelaskan penampilan pakaian, lingkungan, dan perilaku, tingkat representasi yang meliputi teknik pengambilan gambar, pencahayaan, dan musik, serta tingkat ideologi yang menggambarkan konflik dan alur cerita yang ada dalam film. Hasil penelitian film dilakukan analisis terhadap setiap adegan yang mengacu pada unsur budaya yang terkandung dalam film tersebut. peneliti dapat mempelajari bahwa film tersebut mengandung makna ideologi konservatifme yang berusaha mengembalikan dan mempertahankan tatanan kehidupan yang didasarkan pada nilai nilai tradisional yang telah terbukti mampu memberikan kesejahteraan bagi masyarakat.
