Abstract

The democratization of information through digital platforms has radically changed the system of information production and dissemination. Information that was once the product of a small group of people turned into a product produced by the masses. Anyone can make and disseminate information. This condition is a positive indicator for democracy. However, this phenomenon creates space for the emergence of complex challenges. The democratization of information that is close to liberalization has an impact in the form of a mixture of facts and opinions, between truth and hoaxes. Without adequate critical thinking skills, one will only become the object of the democratization of information. In response to these conditions, this study aims to equip new students within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UPNVJ with critical thinking skills that include theoretical to practical aspects. The training method uses an interactive material delivery model, case studies, and group discussions. The results of the training showed a significant increase in understanding, application skills, and awareness of the importance of critical thinking in assessing information and solving social issues. This activity is expected to be the first step of intervention and mentoring for new students who are starting to enter the academic world and are open to the process of digitizing information.

Abstract

Penyuluhan Pencegahan Tindakan KDRT berbasis Kesetaraan Gender bagi Masyarakat di Kelurahan Pondok Labu, Jakarta Selatan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai pentingnya kesetaraan gender dalam mencegah kekerasan dalam rumah tangga (KDRT). Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahap: persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap persiapan, dilakukan koordinasi dengan pihak kelurahan serta penyusunan materi edukatif. Tahap pelaksanaan berupa penyuluhan dan diskusi dengan masyarakat yang difasilitasi oleh tim pengabdi bersama mitra lokal. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur pemahaman peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta terhadap isu KDRT dan kesetaraan gender, ditunjukkan oleh kenaikan skor rata-rata dari 76,3 menjadi 80,4. Selain itu, diskusi interaktif menunjukkan antusiasme peserta dan kebutuhan yang nyata atas informasi serta keterlibatan laki-laki dalam isu ini. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif dalam membangun kesadaran kolektif masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pencegahan KDRT berbasis kesetaraan gender serta menciptakan rumah tangga yang sehat dan adil.

Abstract

Bilateral cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Japan takes various forms. As an illustration, the two countries have demonstrated their long-term commitment to working together in multiple fields, which ultimately sparked the Saudi-Japan Vision 2030. In this context, collaboration in the energy security sector is essential, especially with Saudi Arabia, which wishes to switch from fossil to renewable energy. This study will review further the implementation of Saudi Arabia-Japan bilateral cooperation through Saudi-Japan Vision 2030 in energy security. Next, the research will explore the various projects, activities, and types of collaboration that have been undertaken between the two countries under the vision they share. The author has explained how it is implemented and elaborated on how this bilateral cooperation has been implemented in such a way through various activities to ensure energy security. If we discuss energy security, many processes must be considered; therefore, it is natural that the author has described several collaborations, projects, and training programs as a form of effort between two countries to develop their energy sector and achieve energy security.

Abstract

Protection of nationals abroad constitutes a fundamental consular function regulated under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations 1963 (VCCR 1963) and represents a key pillar of contemporary consular diplomacy. This article analyzes the implementation of consular functions by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Jeddah in providing consular protection to Indonesian nationals involved in a bomb joke incident at King Abdulaziz International Airport in 2017, based on Articles 5 and 36 of VCCR 1963. Employing a qualitative single-case study approach based on in-depth interviews and document analysis, the study reveals that KJRI Jeddah effectively implemented its consular duties through prompt emergency response by the Citizen Protection Task Force, legal assistance, provision of a retainer lawyer and interpreters, consular visitations, and repatriation facilitation. Overall, these actions were consistent with Articles 5 and 36 of VCCR 1963. However, the effectiveness of consular diplomacy faced structural limitations, including the rigid nature of Saudi Arabian criminal law, restricted initial consular access during early investigation in Riyadh, and the absence of a bilateral Mandatory Consular Notification (MCN) agreement between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

Abstract

Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG), administered by the newly established Badan Gizi Nasional (National Nutrition Agency), represents an unprecedented expansion of the Indonesian welfare state. Designed as a strategic intervention to eradicate structural malnutrition, reduce stunting, and capture the nation's demographic dividend ahead of the "Golden Indonesia 2045" vision, the program aims to feed over 63 million beneficiaries. However, this paper argues that the MBG program introduces severe systemic vulnerabilities when analyzed through the dual lenses of Non-Traditional Security (NTS) and neoclassical political economy. By critically examining the massive fiscal burden of the program—costing tens of trillions of Rupiah—this study highlights the macroeconomic risks and the intense political contestation over the constitutionally mandated 20% education budget. This fiscal friction culminated in the landmark July 2026 Constitutional Court (MK) ruling, which strictly ring-fenced educational funds from being cannibalized by the MBG. Furthermore, the paper investigates the micro-governance challenges of operating a highly decentralized procurement network, emphasizing the dual threats of localized rent-seeking and acute public health crises caused by inadequate food safety standards, as evidenced by recent National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) data. The article concludes that without strict fiscal discipline, dynamic poverty targeting, and the rigorous enforcement of sanitation regulations, the MBG risks undermining the very human and economic security it seeks to protect.
