Abstract

Agricultural and household waste management remains a major issue in rural areas, including Namasina Village, Kota Masohi District, Central Maluku Regency. A large amount of organic waste is disposed of without proper processing, causing environmental pollution, even though it has great potential to be converted into liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) that is eco-friendly and economically valuable. This study aims to increase community knowledge about organic waste management, promote sustainable agricultural innovation, and reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. The implementation method involves socialization activities and hands-on practice of making LOF using cow manure, brown sugar, EM4, and water, which are fermented for 7–14 days. The results show high enthusiasm among the community in participating in the training and understanding the benefits of LOF in improving soil fertility and reducing production costs. Furthermore, the activity continued with chili planting practices using the homemade organic fertilizer. This program demonstrates that the utilization of livestock and household waste can serve as an effective solution to support sustainable agriculture, increase environmental awareness, and empower the community toward self-sufficiency.

Abstract

Adolescence represents a transitional phase characterized by complex biological, psychological, and social changes, during which insufficient understanding of reproductive health can lead to risky behaviors such as premarital sexual activity, unintended pregnancy, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The purpose of the activity titled “Reproductive Health Knowledge Socialization among Adolescents at SMAN 37 Central Maluku in 2025” was to enhance adolescents’ knowledge and awareness regarding reproductive health. This community service program employed a cross-sectional design and involved 54 students from grades X to XII, selected purposively. Data were collected through online pre-tests and post-tests using Google Forms, and the results were analyzed with Microsoft Excel to evaluate changes in participants’ knowledge levels. The findings revealed a notable increase in the average knowledge score from 76% to 89.8%, with the most significant improvements observed in aspects related to reproductive hygiene and understanding of STI risks. The activity proved effective in improving adolescents’ reproductive health literacy and strengthening their awareness of responsible reproductive behavior. Therefore, face-to-face interactive socialization serves as a strategic approach to reinforce healthy understanding and behavior among adolescents in archipelagic regions. Moreover, it can be adopted as a model for developing sustainable health education programs in schools across Eastern Indonesia.

Abstract

Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by blood pumped by the heart against the walls of the arteries. Abnormalities in blood pressure can take the form of high blood pressure or hypertension and low blood pressure or hypotension. Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that is one of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and sufferers often do not show any symptoms. This community service activity aimed to examine the results of blood pressure measurements among inmates at the Class IIB Detention Center in Masohi City. This study used a descriptive observational design with a cross-sectional approach. There were 95 inmates who participated in this activity. Data analysis was conducted using quantitative descriptive methods to describe the blood pressure measurement results based on demographic data such as age, gender, education level, occupation, height, and weight. The results showed that most respondents were in the 20-30 age range (44.2%) and male (91.6%). The level of education shows that most respondents only completed high school (54.7%) and the majority worked as farmers (30.5%). Anthropometric characteristics in terms of height show that most respondents were between 140-160 cm (47.4%) and weighed between 51-60 kg (43.2%). The distribution of blood pressure shows that most respondents are in the pre-hypertension (40%), normal (29.5%), grade 1 hypertension (17.9%), and grade 2 hypertension (10.5%). Therefore, routine blood pressure checks need to be carried out so that inmates in detention centers can avoid hypertension, which can be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

Abstract

One of the key topics in education and disaster mitigation is the use of geophysical science to deal with natural disasters and to raise environmental awareness of high school students. We discussed how geophysician science can be incorporated into high school curricula to increase environmental Awareness and reduce natural disaster risk. We also highlighted the methods of geofysics that can be socialized to high school pupils to understand and manage natural phenomena, as well as to reduce the risk of natural catastrophe for society. By using this method, high school children are expected to learn about the Earth and how to cope with natural catastrophes

Abstract

The community service is carried out to provide knowledge to the young people of Negeri Hukurila, South Leitimur District, who are first-time voters. First-time voters, according to the Election Law, refer to individuals aged 17 and above or those who have been married. First-time voters are those who are eligible to vote for the first time in any type of election, including general elections, presidential elections, legislative elections, or other elections. They can be aged 17-18 or older and have met the voter requirements set by the laws of their country or jurisdiction of residence. The purpose of this community service is to increase the participation of first-time voters, especially the young people of Negeri Hukurila who have just graduated from high school or vocational school. Based on observations, it has been found that the youth in Negeri Hukurila have low political participation in elections, and they also have limited information about elections and a lack of political education. With reference to these issues, we conducted community service with the hope that after the socialization on increasing the participation of informed first-time voters, their knowledge about elections and politics would increase, thereby impacting the high level of participation of first-time voters in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMNeg) in Makariki possess regional economic potential. However, business managers face cash flow recording obstacles. They have not implemented standard bookkeeping. This community service aims to provide training and mentoring in financial document preparation using the Financial Accounting Standards for Micro, Small, and Medium Entities framework. The implementation method consists of preparation, execution, and evaluation stages. The execution stage includes initial testing, material presentation, interactive discussion, and final testing. Evaluation results indicate this program resolves participants' financial literacy problems. Participants' understanding regarding bookkeeping accounts and calculating profit and loss increased. Participants can compile drafts of income statements, financial positions, and supporting notes independently. In conclusion, intensive mentoring changes participants' mindsets from conventional management to a more structured one. Systematic bookkeeping helps participants separate personal and business assets. These records also serve as administrative requirements to access additional capital from banks or government assistance programs. This program supports the transparency and accountability of village fund management through BUMNeg.

Abstract

Negeri Haruru in Central Maluku Regency currently faces dual environmental challenges: unmanaged household organic waste and the frequent occurrence of surface water puddles during periods of high rainfall. This community service activity aims to educate and provide practical skills to junior high school students in Negeri Haruru regarding the implementation of 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) through the innovation of Biopore Infiltration Holes (LRB) using recycled plastic bottles as a cost-effective alternative to conventional liners. This innovation is designed to reduce plastic waste while simultaneously managing organic waste and improving soil water infiltration capacity independently at the household level. The implementation method involved participatory socialization, interactive discussions, and hands-on demonstrations of constructing biopore installations. The results indicated a significant increase in students' understanding of the role of soil fauna as decomposing agents and their technical ability to assemble used plastic bottles into functional biopore modules. The implementation of this innovation proved effective in maintaining the structural integrity of the infiltration holes and facilitating the biological decomposition of organic waste into compost. This program is expected to serve as a sustainable community-based environmental management model to minimize puddles and address waste problems in Negeri Haruru through a low-cost, appropriate technology approach.
