Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggali model mental mahasiswa dalam memahami berbagai jenis reaksi kimia berdasarkan perbedaan pengetahuan awal. Sampel terdiri dari 152 mahasiswa yang berasal dari semester 1,3, dan 5 Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia Universitas Mataram. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Sebanyak 10 item soal tes essay dikembangkan tentang topik reaksi pembentukan, reaksi penguraian, reaksi pembakaran, reaksi substitusi tunggal dan reaksi substitusi ganda untuk mengidentifikasi model mental mahasiswa dan 19 soal tes pilihan ganda untuk mengidentifikasi pengetahuan awal mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 74,3 % mahasiswa masih mengembangkan model mental inisial dalam menjelaskan fenomena reaksi pada level submikroskopik dan belum ada mahasiswa yang mengembangkan model mental saintifik. Mereka hanya menjelaskan proses terjadinya reaksi kimia pada level makroskopik dan simbolik. Selain itu dalam model mental mahasiswa, masih terdapat pra konsep yang dapat menyebabkan miskonsepsi. Peneliti menyarankan bahwa perlu diterapkan pembelajaran yang berbasis multi level representasi dan perlu dikembangkan media pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan model mental mahasiswa karena pengembangan model mental sangat penting dalam memahami konsep-konsep kimia.

Abstract

Pembelajaran kimia yang lengkap menuntut mahasiswa untuk memahami materi kimia dengan menghubungkan tiga level representasi, yaitu representasi makroskopik, simbolik, dan submikroskopik. Kemampuan menghubungkan ketiga level representasi tersebut disebut dengan model mental. Model mental terdiri atas model mental saintifik, sintetik, dan inisial. Dalam mengembangkan model mental, dibutuhkan kemampuan spasial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi model mental dan kemampuan spasial mahasiswa pendidikan kimia tahun pertama dan tahun ketiga Universitas Mataram dan menganalisis hubungan antara model mental dan kemampuan spasial mahasiswa. Ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji beda (uji t) dan uji regresi linear. Berdasarkan uji t, tidak ada perbedaan model mental antara mahasiswa tahun pertama dan tahun kedua dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,861>0,05. Selain itu, kemampuan spasial mereka juga tidak berbeda, yaitu dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,328>0,05. Terdapat hubungan antara model mental dan kemampuan spasial mahasiswa. Sebagian besar mahasiswa tahun pertama (81,25%) dan tahun ketiga (79,5) memiliki kemampuan spasial sangat rendah. Selain itu, model mental dari sebagain besar mahasiswa tahun pertama dan tahun ketiga juga masih pada level paling rendah, yaitu level inisial. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran di kelas belum mampu meningkatkan kemampuan spasial dan model mental mahasiswa.

Abstract

Modul praktikum kimia organik 1 untuk pegangan mahasiswa praktikan pendidikan kimia semester 3 telah berhasil dikembangkan. Pengembangan modul telah melalui serangkaian proses validasi ahli, penjaringan respon dosen dan mahasiswa menggunakan instrumen angket, serta pengujian terbatas pada proses pembuatan video praktikum sebagai bahan praktikum virtual mata kuliah kimia organik 1. Pengembangan dilakukan dalam 4 tahapan yakni: tahap define (pendefinisian), tahap design (perancangan), tahap develop (pengembangan), dan tahap disseminate (penyebaran). Modul yang telah dikembangkan dinyatakan valid oleh validator dari segi kelayakan dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 0,74 dan praktis dengan persentase sebesar 78,93%. Responden memberikan respon sangat positif terhadap modul praktikum kimia organik 1 sehingga modul dinyatakan layak untuk dijadikan sebagai panduan melaksanakan praktikum karena dapat meningkatkan ketrampilan sains mahasiswa.

Abstract

This study aims to find: (1) the development of students' scientific reasoning abilities; (2) mental models developed by students in understanding the concept of dissolving weak acids and weak bases; and (3) the relationship between scientific reasoning abilities and mental models. The research approach is a descriptive study. The research subjects were 38 first-year students of the Chemical Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, The University of Mataram. The research data collected were scientific reasoning ability data and student mental model data on the concept of dissolving weak acids and weak bases. Students' scientific reasoning ability was measured using the revised Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning (CTSR) instrument in 2000, developed by Lawson and translated into Indonesian. The translation test has a reliability coefficient, calculated by the KR-20 formula, of 0.74. Identification of mental models using written tests and interviews. The content validity of the mental model test instruments is 94.2%. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The identification of mental models is made by using a constant comparative technique. The results showed a delay in developing students' scientific reasoning abilities compared to the criteria set by Lawson. Most of the students developed initial mental models in understanding dissolving weak acids and bases. In addition, the higher the student's scientific reasoning ability, the mental model developed tends to approach the scientific mental model.

Abstract

This survey research aimed to understand the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of pupils on Lombok Island on the issue of global warming. The research sample of 267 students were randomly drawn from 6 state high schools in Lombok Island. Knowledge data were collected using tests, attitude and behavior data towards global warming were collected using a questionnaire. Data analysis used regression and correlation techniques. This study concluded: (1) there was a relationship between knowledge and the behavior of pupils on Lombok Island on the issue of global warming; (2) There was a relationship between attitude and behavior of pupils on Lombok Island on the issue of global warming; (3) there was a positive relationship between knowledge and attitudes with adolescent behavior on Lombok Island.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of problem-based learning in environmental chemistry course and its effect on the development of students’ character at Chemistry Education Programe, FKIP, Mataram University in the even semester of 2019/2020. This research was a pre-experimental research with pre-test post-test design, using a class consisting of 31 students. During class discussions, each group was very active in responding and defending opinions based on the references they had in the form of books, journals, and papers that they obtained from various sources. After being analyzed using the ANOVA test, an average score (mean) of students' characters after learning was 239.03 significantly higher than the mean before learning of 219.58. The character component includes attitudes, interests, values, and self-concepts significantly contribute to student character.

Abstract

Telah dirancang sebuah sistem deteksi pergerakan obyek pada lintasan linear air track untuk eksperimen mekanika gerak lurus. Dalam perancangan ini digunakan mikrokontroler Arduino Uno R3, dua pasang led imframerah dan fotodioda, sensor ultrasonik Ping sebagai sensor jarak, lintasan linear air track dengan panjang 240 cm, blower dan vehicle. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian alat yang dibuat dengan alat standar stopwatch, pada percobaan gerak lurus diperoleh persentase kesalahan pengukuran waktu maksimum sebesar 1,4%, dan persentase kesalahan perhitungan kecepatan maksimum sebesar 1,35%. Pada percobaan gerak lurus berubah beraturan diperoleh persentase kesalahan pengukuran waktu maksimum sebesar 1,46%, dan persentase kesalahan perhitungan kecepatan maksimum sebesar 2,46%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pengujian yang telah dilakukan dengan nilai persentase kesalahan yang diperoleh, menunjukkan bahwa perancangan alat deteksi pergerakan obyek yang telah dilakukan mulai dari perangkat masukan dan keluaran hingga pengimplementasian di dalam pengukuran waktu dan jarak pada percobaan GLB dan GLBB dapat bekerja dengan baik dan dapat digunakan untuk kegiatan eksperimen mekanika gerak lurus di laboratorium.  Keywords: Linear Air Track, Gerak Lurus, Arduino

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this community service activity was to increase the understanding and ability of the students of Master of Science Education University of Mataram to develop learning outcomes instruments based on higher-order thinking skills. This activity was carried out with several methods, namely lectures, questions and answers, brief exercises and focused discussions. The activity ended with an evaluation to get an overview of the process and results of the activity. Data collection was done through questionnaires, interviews, and discussions. Based on the results of data collection, it can be concluded that the activities ran well, the results were very beneficial for the participants, and will be followed up with exercises to develop HOTS-based learning outcomes tests suitable with the demands of the 2013 curriculum. The obstacles in developing HOTS-based learning outcome include inadequate abilities and heavy administrative and academic tasks. Keywords:Science Learning, Learning Outcome, HOTS

Abstract

The implementation of the learning process is always oriented towards the mastery of competence by students. One of the important competencies possessed by students is high order thinking skills (HOTS). Based on the results of observations in several high schools in the Narmada zoning, West Lombok district, it was obtained: (1) The ability of student’s critical thinking in chemistry on average was still low; (2) Students do not have the opportunity to develop the potential for critical thinking skills in learning due to the use of unsuitable learning models; (3) The ability of teachers to apply learning models that can improve students' critical thinking skills is still low; and (4) Teachers carry out learning individually so that it is difficult to evaluate the learning process as a result of continuous improvement of learning difficult to implement. The solution offered in this community service activity is in the form of teacher assistance in implementing zoning-based of lesson study for learning communities (LSLC) to improve students' critical thinking skills in chemistry. The targets of this community service activity are teachers of chemistry subjects from SMA Negeri 1 Narmada, SMA Negeri 2 Narmada, SMA Negeri 1 Lingsar, and SMA NW Narmada. This activity was carried out with a training approach, learning practice, and reflection. This activity was carried out in two stages: the first stage is socialization and workshop about LSLC, then in the second stage the lesson study (LS) practice. The results achieved from this activity are: (1) Students' critical thinking skills in chemistry subjects need to be continuously improved through various learning innovations, one of which is by implementing guided discovery learning; (2) Increased understanding of teachers regarding the principles, benefits, and scope of the lesson study and LSLC appropriately; and (3) The increased enthusiasm of teachers to implement lesson study-based learning improvements which consist of planning stages (plan), implementation of learning and observation (do), and reflection (see), and re-design.

Abstract

Community service activities have been carried out for master students of Science Education at the University of Mataram which aimed to provide understanding to students about the development of science teaching materials that can develop students' metacognition. Teaching materials that are able to develop metacognitive abilities are needed by students in the current era of globalization. With the ability of metacognition, it will raise students' awareness of what they really know and one's cognition-regulation functions to regulate their cognitive activities effectively. Knowledge-cognition contains declarative, procedural, and conditional knowledge, while metacognition skills include four skills, namely problem solving skills, decision-making skills, critical thinking skills, and creative thinking skills. Activity participants can understand the material presented which was shown by the ability to answer questions during the discussion. An understanding of proper metacognition was also measured by its ability to fill out a questionnaire that was distributed after the service was complete. A good understanding of metacognition is expected to be a guide in developing metacognition-based teaching materials so that students can develop metacognition abilities.
